From the first moment I heard voiceover it sounded too sterile, too perfect, like you can clearly hear (or not hear) artificial purity in it. It "drowns" every other sound by being far more "noiseless" than anything else.

In my opinion (and I may be wrong) it would have much better sound if it's actually a bit metallic, or distant, or if it sounds like it's actually coming from some sound source inside cockpit and not just played in your headphone.

I hope you understand what I'm talking about.

EDIT:
To respond to some negative comments (Garths included ;)), this is not careless b-i-t-c-h-i-n-g about voiceover. As a matter of fact, I appreciate PGI have listened the community and introduced Carol's voice and I salute them for their hard work.
This is about finesse of the implemented. You implemented - we're giving feedback; you tweak - we give more feedback. All for the greater good.

I understand exactly what you mean, but i think it should be that way. Considering you are not actually hearing her with your ears, that her voice is coming directly into your brain....i think that it sounds about right. And so far, she is the *only* sound we hear internally in the game.

Everything else is external sound, which may explain why she sounds so crisp and clean.

I definitely agree. Nothing wrong with her voice or reading, it just needs some mechanical value.

Even if the lore implies it goes right into your brain, I'd still prefer some sort of audio tweak to make it less clean and crisp, something out of an intercom.

A neurohelmet cannot project something as complex as a voice into your mind, fyi.

That being said, I think her voice is justifiable as being that "clean" because it's likely being piped into your ears through a snug fitting headset.

I do agree though, that it would probably sound better if it were mixed a bit better with the other sounds. They aren't done with her yet, though, so I wouldn't worry.

Unless she's attractive and is using some tongue, I don't want her coming into my brain through my ears anyways.

I am disappoint.
I pictured a helmet with wetwire connections ala Ghost in the Shell or Johnny Mnemonic...not some fancy headphones.

Would much rather prefer them to just add the MW2 Mercs voice files if at all possible

EDIT: Clientside modding/replacing of said audio files would be fantastic

I haven't even played the patched version yet and I can infer from your context perfectly. I hope they add a bit of post processing to make it feel more integrated with the game world.

Last time I checked I was playing mechwarrior, not having my grandma nagging at me about everything I'm already doing. I heard a previous ******** betty's voice, and this one is just some lame old woman, How do I turn this crap off?

I'd point out that it's BB ver. 1, and some dialogue is still missing, so it's kind of unreasonable to assume this is the final voice. On that note, I do agree that the current voice is kind of in the uncanny valley atm, and could use a filter to make it sound a bit more synthetic. Right now it sounds like a real person trying to be a robot, rather than a computer trying to sound human.

Yeah - some reverb, some distortion and she´d be good to go. And a **** hotkey.

Setting the dialogue slider to 0 in options will probably silence her.
