I decided to log in and try some matches today after being away from the game for about month and my experience was horrible.

1. The ui
Buttons and options crammed in everywhere and a really disorienting experience even for me that has played the game a good amount of time during the closed beta.

2. Paying for colors?
Am I seriously not even going to be able to change a basic color without having to pay money for it? Feels like they are trying to rob me of money wherever I go in the menus. I'd be totally fine with paying for a cool mech skin, but just to switch color is taking it way too far.

3. Performance
The game has always run badly for me but this time it was much worse than last time I played. My system is a AMD FX-6100 (6-core), AMD 7950 and 16 GB RAM and my first game became totally unplayable as soon as I got in close to two enemy mechs. I turned everything down to low/medium, no AA and still couldn't get a 30fps+ stable framerate for my next match (both on forest colony). How can this game run so bad, when I can play Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2 on high without any problems?

4. Other annoyances
Heat vision was great before but now everything except for the mechs is just dark blue and I can't see anything. Why?

I was targeted by a Catapult that fired streaks and my screen kept going really dark as I took fire. Combine that with crazy shaking and framerate that went below 10 fps and there was really nothing I could do but die.

It's like you're trying your best to make this game even more unaproachable for people. I was hoping that there had been some improvements since i stopped playing, but frankly it just felt way worse ;). Sorry but I had to vent.

I just wish you hadn't.

If instead you had spent a few minutes reading the forums and patch notes, this thread wouldn't have happened, and the forums would have been that tiny bit better.

But even to change the color of a tiny stripe on my mech? I'm all for exclusive skins, cockpit items, hero mech variants and other stuff that actually feels substantial, but is a simple color change really something you should have to pay for. Just felt really weird and greedy.

Each color/pattern should cost MC. Changing colors costs C-bills. Once a color or pattern is bought you can apply it to any Mech you own.

Up the prices by 50% and make cool looking colors more rare by charging more for them. That is a system I will buy into. Otherwise I'm sticking with stock colors.

It doesn't - that's kinda the point of F2P. This is where it's safe for them to do so because...

It does feel petty but people will be swapping mechs in and out so really you can't expect people to change their paint on a single mech that often. They need to make sure to squeeze a couple of bucks out of you therefore on each mech.

I like paying for colors. More immersion. Takes alot of cbills to buy all that paint. Besides I make about 4 to 5 million cbills a night. I need to spend money on something.

Exactly. If we coughed up money via the Founder's program... we should get access to a reasonable amount of skins/colors... for FREE!

In Mechwarrior 4, for instance, I could pick multiple skins for my mechs, all for the entry price of 60 bucks or so to buy the game.

Anything aesthetic in a F2P game should cost money.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel. I don't begrudge them for picking the model they chose, but it just won't get me to spend any money.

F2P's model is that you spend constantly as if you were playing an MMO with a monthly subscription but instead of paying for the right to play the game you pay for perks inside the game.

1. UI is a subject to change. But yeah, it is... strange now.
2. Well, they are the boss. From one point of view, it is not expensive, from the other - it is still MC-only. IMO they should add some colors (look at GW2) for free, and the cooler ones for MC.
3. Very strange. Do you have all the drivers, directx, all this stuff updated? Because yeah, performance for me dropped a bit, but not too much since CBT. I have Core i7 2630QM (8 cores w/hyperthreading), 6GB RAM, Radeon HD 6770M.
Also, you may want to turn VSync off. It is glitchy in CryEngine 3 of this version. Oh, and also, delete the shaders cache folder. You probably have shaders from old game version, you need to clear them.
4. Well, it is either grained picture or this right now. And yeah, that sucks balls.

Yeah maybe I should have done that, but I was quite shocked at the state of the game. Can't believe they went into open beta with this.

Isn't that AFTER the game is developed?
