OP sounds as if PGI is putting a gun to head and "forced" to pay the prices for MC. Likely, that is not the case, so I equate this to just more whining when in reality, he doesn't have to spend a penny if he doesn't want to

I would pay more if:

there were actual items to buy.
if I didn't have to buy dollars with my money, then convert the dollars to disney dollars in my head, THEN look at how many disney dollars I'm getting for each regular dollar.
if there were things I'm interested in, like swapping hardpoints for other types, decals, stickers, I could make my own patterns...

Essentially, this isn't a micro-transaction game right now, so I won't buy any mech dollars.

This I don't have an issue with:
  • Hero Mechs or their Prices.
  • Buying Mech slots with MC.
  • MC = Premium Time = C-bill bonus.
  • Spending C-bills to change between upgrades.
  • Spending C-bills to change pain schemes.
  • MC for cockpit items.
So I'm not opposed to spending money and I will/would buy a hero mech if it appeals to me. But I'm old school and believe that once I buy something with real money its is mine so chances are I wont be using my money on MC sprays. C-Bills? I'll grind all day long to make money to swap paint but MC to change it? No thanks.

My suggestion is this:
  • When a player buys a color its permanently owned.
  • It takes C-bills to change colors.
  • Bought colors are only unlocked for that tier. For a player to have an all Pink mech they would have to buy Primary Pink, Secondary Pink, and Tertiary Pink. It would be three separate purchases but the player could have a pink mech anytime they wished if they have the c-bills to pay the painters.
  • Once a color is purchased/unlocked it is available for all mechs.
  • Once a decal is purchased/unlocked it is available for all mechs.
  • Once a scheme purchased/unlocked it is available for all mechs.
  • Colors are the cheapest while schemes and decals will be more expensive.

I'm the same in that all that costs cbills and MC I don't mind so much.

I don't like your camospec thing. Too complicated imo.

Just have it so you can make and buy a camospec for a variant, you get to keep that camo spec for that variant if you change it. None of this unlocking colors for all mechs thing.
This way gives the player the option to buy an unlimited amount of collectable, permanent, and modifiable(like you can go in and buy a different color for that instance of the spec) MC purchasable content for their mech variants.

At no point do they get really jipped off if they want to change scheme. I mean you really think many players are gonna spend MC on a camospec then want to overwrite that later? I want to avoid that. But allow them to collect different camospecs for their favourite variants, knowing that possibly cool new patterns will be released in the future and they can buy those too? People will be all over it. And there would be little reason to hold off waiting just in case they release something that much cooler.

Players know other camospecs are coming down the pipe.. so...

Since you did not understand my post I will try to explain it as good as I am able to.

Nobody makes me pay anything, I want to buy stuff from PGI. But from my experience and from reading the forums I see that the pricing is not received very well (e.g. why not have a look at the poll).
If you look at successful F2P games it is all about micro transactions.
But current prices of 20+$ for a single mech and the fact that you have to buy MC which get
cheaper if you buy for 100$ at a time is just the opposite of micro transactions.

As the poll indicates it is possible that PGI would actually gain more money if prices where lower.
To underline my theory (yes it is an unproven theory) I compared it to the law of diminishing returns.
Which in my oppinion is a very good comparison.

I wasted most of my basic founders package buying starter Mech's, Mechbay's and a Yen-Lo-Wang before realising just how absurd the cost of the MC was going to be in real dollars. My Yen-Lo-Wang didn't even come with a Mechbay, so tack another 400MC hidden cost onto that!

The exchange rate might be getting you revenue but you'll have to build a much more polished game before I'm willing to fork out anywhere near that kind of money. I put a little in to get going but to buy more currency I have to see that this game will actually stick around and that investors won't just pull the plug when they feel like it.

I'd be happy to pay higher costs for things like Camo and Paint if once I buy it I own it and can apply it across multiple Mech's. I'm in a unit so set schemes and insignia are going to be required en-masse. At these costs I'll probably just fit out one Mech with paid stuff and the rest will just ride off whats free.

The owners have obviously tried to skip the steps of making the game awesome and building a large player base prior to making things cost premium and for some reason though we wouldn't notice? I bought the founders legendary package because I love MW, and really want to see this become a growing LONG lasting game. The potential with a metagame and factions/clans all the mechs all the toys is ENORMOUS. However, PGI you started charging top title price even before you have the game out of "beta". FAIL! While you are getting startup coin from those of us who grew up MW fans, you should realize that things need to be cheap until the game is "Done" which with the many issues you have it should not be costing much at the moment. you still have competition out there, which there is no need to mention. Yes, MW has the coolest and best POTENTIAL of anything I know of in the works, but please, I ask you back off on the real $ costs until you have a premium quality product up, running, and popular. Keep working at it. Many of us are routing for you. And yes, I will pay more $ when the game is "done". Thanks for your efforts thus far.

I still think we (99% of players in closed beta) were right that it was a horrible decicion to go open beta at this stage of the game.
I mean what for did we (founders) throw 5.2 million bugs at PGI/IGP.
It was to make sure they can finish/polish the game. Now the economy
to me just feels greedy. Would be nice to know what those 5.2 million
were already spend on?

I mean there is no way their buissiness plan could have included crazy fans spending 5.2 million
in closed beta. So they should do well from a financial point of view.

Which is made even more ironic that you still ponied up $120 for Legendary Founders

Spent ~6000 MC from my Founders on Mechs, the first being an Atlas to strip. Probably a bad choice, but on OB day, I just couldn't do the 110 kph Jenner. Got a 'phract on release (4x) just for some fun dakka-dakka.

Past that, I've held off. I may pony up for a Stalker, but the other mechs just don't interest me. Nor does the next Hero mech. Nor does pretty much anything else they sell - including temporary skins.

What scares me is that I should have been $50.00 in to this game not including my founder's by now. There just aren't things to purchase that are worth the money put into it. I'd actually rather grind CBills than use the remaining MC. Probably because most things are not priced well for the game. Microtransactions are the way to go, undoubtedly. If it had been $5 for a mech, $3 for a color, so forth, they would have had another $70.

I'm not sure who is planning their financial model, but they need to get someone else doing that. Because whoever it is, is just terrible.

retitle this thread: MC Increasing Returns.

and just flip OPs little pricing guide

The more you buy the better the deal. This is an incentive to buy more. Now Im unsure how much incentive there is to buy at all with how little there is to get with MC but still, the pricing scheme on $>cbill seems fine to me, maybe a bit of a drop would be nice. I'd only buy the $100 package at this point which means I'm likely not to get any MC for quite awhile. Lucky I have 3 more months of premium!

I plan on buying 3000 MC per month or so as long as I am getting 8-10 hours a week of entertainment from it. Seems like a decent value that way. I have already spent almost half my founders MC and hope to start banking some for things I really want, like 'Mechs and cockpit clutter!

I think if they made things cheaper I would still be spending around $15 a month. Hell, I spend $15 a month on Eve and it seems like all I do is log-in once a week to make sure my character has something to learn...LOL

No option that you're saving MC for when more things are available (also nothing about spending it only on Mechbays in the mean time).

i dont think money should be required for anything at all, like the extra mech bay slots i paid for. I know its a beta, but i was pretty disheartened when i spent money on MC and can nolonger play since the nov 20 patch. Some prices are off, but the big picture i think they are headed in the right direction. But, The prices to buy mc and the mc cost of things makes me darn near laugh out of my chair.
