Just because you are a Jenner 7D pilot is no reason to say "Forget Canon" Vassago and yes Electronic Warfare equipment isn't easily placed on any mech

Yes, why don't we do that, and then we balance the items properly, and the mechs while we're at it? It's funny that no one has a problem with every mech ever taking gauss rifles, but ECM is the most sacred piece of raid gear EVER. We for sure can't let already bought mechs field it, and simply make fluff ECM users field it with extra features.

That'd make too much sense.

No wonder you have 4,000 posts, you have a monkey chained up and typing on these forums.... :-/ Why aren't jumpjets allowed for every variant HMMMM? I gotta slay Onyxia to get JJ for my atlas? It's just a piece of gear. Without citing "game balance" OR "it's canon" tell me why I can't put them on an Atlas.

Luckily your opinion counts for nothing otherwise I'd be even more worried. Surely you pilot a Jenner D or a Catapult A1, I stomped you earlier with my premade lance but I forget what you were in... It was cheesy and the rest of your lance was cheesy too so I hope you feel bad.

But it isn't any harder to fit then some of the other gear that can be loaded on to any other mech.

I dont' want it on the jenner for balance, not canon. If we went canon it could be on every mech and we would need to roll about it being fit right...

For balance being on a Jenner is bad. If only on the Raven for lights then it gives the raven a very unique role. In fact only having one mech of each wheight class carry it might make it more interesting in use. You see a Raven on Infrared, you shoot it first tog et rid of their ECM.

I was in a commando...It has two medium lasers and one large laser. My backup was two dragons and a cent. I don't remember what our pubbies were.

I agree. Right now, the Jenner is too good a deal to pass up. No point in a Raven or Commando.

while we let gauss rifles on ravens slide.

'Mechs are restricted by hardpoints, so no, not every 'mech can mount gauss rifles. Not to mention there have been complaints about gauss rifles on K2's and on Ravens.

Besides, if gauss rifle Ravens were ridiculously over-powered, we'd hear complaining about that non-stop... but a light 'mech that goes 80 KPH with a single Gauss is anything but over-powered.

While I'm glad ECM is powerful, I think it is probably too powerful. ECM should be desirable, but not required, and restricted to certain variants to encourage diversity.

It won't do that. It'll make those variants must-haves, and suddenly you won't see the others anymore.

If that's true it must have been your pubbies running the cheese builds because I just remember rolling over that game and killing at least one cheese A1, so sorry for the false accusation. Is it gallows humor saying "**** it why not ruin the game and put ECM everywhere and make jenners even more OP" or what then? I don't get why you would advocate making the game worse in such an obvious way...

Surely you realize that it's a bad idea to make the Jenner even better when it is already empirically superior to the Raven in every single way besides ballistic cheese builds that are arguably complete trash?

Iam curious whats the reason to allow using ecm on every mech but denied using of jumpjets on the same case?...or other question...why we have hardpoints then?...let them build in whatever fits from weight...then see whats happen

I can imagine well how that proceeds

Jenner is already the best Light Mech. If you're giving it the ability to slot an ECM, you might as well go ahead and delete the other Lights while you're at it. It's clear that this is their favorite and that's why it's getting this device. Balance? Who cares about that. Just give my favorite OP Mech everything.

If the Jenner D gets ECM it's just one more piece of evidence that the Devs of this game are just like EVE devs. They play and abuse the game so they are reluctant to fix something they themselves are abusing. It's easy to think LRMs are fine, SSRMs are fine, and Jenners are fine if you are piloting A1s (like Kyle Hayden has been) or if you are coring atlases in 3 seconds with your Jenner (like Garth Erlam is) or boating an LRM15+Artemis no repair DDC like the rest of the team is.

Your favourite mech is a Dragon Paul? Yeah right.... Because all the love is flowing one way, and that way is lock-on weapons that outperform skill-based weapons at all ranges. The BEST PLAYERS IN THE WORLD at this game (which isn't saying much since there is only a couple thousand of us) can barely out headshot a left trigger mech like the A1 or the DDC that anyones nephew could play to the tune of 900 damage after a 15 minute tutorial.

(His score was 2/X kills/assists when he CTD)

My favorite 'mech is a Dragon with 4 mpl and 1 uac5. I don't often get high damages with it. This is because it's not too challenging to step out in front of a medium or heavy 'mech and blow off its head or CT. At those short ranges and low speeds it is very hard to miss. Yes, lrms deal a lot of damage, but it's spread out. 'Mechs using lots of them are weak to 'mechs like my Dragon. It's quick enough to fend off lights and to evade LRM boats and spotters, and it has enough concentrated DPS to take them down in close range. Lag shield or not, you'll beat light 'mechs if you use a quick 'mech to fight in tight areas. I use no locking weapons on my Dragon, and Jenners will more often than not run away when fighting me (I don't usually chase them down. Fighting where they want to fight would be suicide.). It would make little difference to me if they had ECM.

As a side note, I think ravens will get a buff when MGs become useful.

actually by canon Guardian ECM can't be put on any of the pre 3039 light mech variants

Dude.
I take screenshots almost constantly. I got like 15 damage done in that game, and we laughed about our terrible performance for hours. You still 'rolled' dragons, a cent, and a commando.

I don't want this thing on jenners only. Are you insane? Where did you get that I want it on jenners only? I want it on every mech.

Maybe if the jenner wasn't godtier with 6 laser slots, jets, a tiny profile, bugged need for only 0.5 tons of jets for maximum lift, lagshielded... It's good you people even understand why certain things are so powerful. Very good.

Because the inclusion of, or lack of, said jets isn't a dealbreaker, while ECM and other electronics is. I won't want to run gimped mechs that don't get the full package, which means I'll have to rebuy special ECM versions, which I shouldn't need to do.

It should be a balanced piece of gear, that's open to all, like everything else in the game. You want your fluffy, terrible raven to be good, too. I understand. But making it the only platform for this isn't gonna do about, since it's still a gimped mech, with gimped guns, gimped engines, and up against the godking of lights. They need to address the balance properly, instead of adding +1, +2, +3, +4.

So we get mechs that are good now, then we ge mechs that are good and have ECM. Then we get ECM mech versions of our favored mechs. Then we get heromechs.

Thank you for sharing your actual opinion Vassago, I still disagree because ECM might give us a reason not to use Jenners and instead use Ravens (ECM is going to be god tier), but I appreciate the reasoning.

Until ECM = your 3xSSRM no longer fire because you can't get a lock.

I pilot a Raven-3L, its the only light I have in my mech bays.

My Raven-3L routinely nets me upwards of 500 damage in a match, and has a top speed of 148.6 kph with Speed Tweak.

The 3L is capable of beating most other lights 1v1, depending on if they're a better pilot than me or not.

I will admit, I would have liked if the ECM would have been restricted to the 3L, but I'm ok with the Jenner getting it as well.

This just means that the Jenners will need to free up that 1.5 tons to fit the ECM, by dropping weapons, armor, or speed which will make it easier for me to kill them

As for my build, what will I lose to fit ECM? 2 MPLAS get downgraded to MLAS or SPLAS, oh and I'll be able to have BAP equipped along with my 2 SSRMs.

So let the Jenners have their ECMs, it won't save them from my Raven.

I dont think ur get the whole picture...1,5T and 2 crit slots are not much compared whit the Benefits he gained...maybe its work better when the lagshield is gone..and netcoding works proper...but dont think so...let aside that the raven where then completley useless in this terms..and ignore either that every mech should been have an spezific role on the battlefield..But..when this is possible..so why not all the other things?...go on remove Engine restrictions and hardpoints...let everyone anthing build in when it fits by weight...dont agree?..well then we have the same opinion in this..I want to see Mechs and there Roles on the Battlefield...When i see an Raven then i want to know..there is probably an Ecm in it..thats it
