TAG doesn't function as well because you now need to hold it on the target all the time. If you lose the hit, you'll lose lock - prior to ECM your standard targeting system could hold the lock while you put the TAG beam back on target.
The LRMs typically will repickup the target if the TAG is reapplied I'm fairly certain. Also, they will hit the last spot of the mech, which if the team is trying to remain in one place will likely still be there. If the mech runs away to avoid the missles he'll be stepping out of the bubble to avoid the missles (cause he wont know if he's still tagged or not) which will allow normal lock. If the spotted mech is the ECM mech, he might move out and reveal his entire team.

NARC is completely nullified (Not that it was good before for the tonnage and all).
Only if the narcer remains in the enemies bubble. NARCs will likely have a significant boost in effectiveness with ECMs release.

SSRMs are in use by other 'mechs that will not be getting ECM, like Hunchbacks, and it pretty much requires that you run ECM as a light if you have SSRMs - and keep in mind that only three light variants will be getting ECM. The other variants that use SSRMs will be down a portion of their firepower when they engage you.
But none of those mechs rely exclusively on SSRMs for damage. ECMs are the counter to "boating" SSRMs.

Just having ECM doesn't make you invisible, but if you're sneaking around then the enemy not being able to share targeting data (through either not being able to target you or being inside ECM range) means that far fewer enemies will know where you are, and it will become much easier to maneuver behind enemy lines without being caught.
This is really a problem with terrible team chat and no internal voice chat integration more than anything else. WIth a group I'm usually more effective at just calling out grid positions and counts than trying to "r" every mech in sight while dodging missles/lasers.

I am willing to hear an argument to the effect that the Jenner should have this equipment, but this is not that argument, especially in light of the fact that many current Jenner-D builds can switch out AMS for ECM at essentially no cost. When the time comes to pay for Jump Jets, we will still be faster than Ravens and still have Jump Jet capability and better hardpoints. You can also opt to not have Jump Jets, and still maintain better speed and hardpoints than the Raven.
Eh, losing the AMS is significant, as you no longer provide an umbrella for your team and if you do get spotted or countered (let's face it, im going to be running in counter and hounding lights when this thing goes live) you're going to get crushed by LRM fire.
As for the raven, it still tickles the fancy of anyone who likes ballistics. Saw a damn good raven last night with an LBX-10 and a couple with ac/2s that were playing knockback troll. I hate the raven for the lack of jump jets, but then again my lance calls me the aerospace jock that got lost and stepped in a mech.

I never claimed it was the end of the world, or that the game would suddenly no longer be fun, but it does appear to be the end of the Raven.
You seem to be the only one who isn't. The entire forum has exploded into anti-ECM rage.

If you respond, I'd very much like an answer to this: Why would you ever take a Raven when you could have a Jenner with ECM instead?
See above, mainly, ballistics affectionados. If Ravens had jumps I might use them, as I run 3 ML + Tag, and in a raven I would likely swap out the tag for a narc beacon and give that whirl.
