The Space Pope finds this an admirable if misguided post.

It is true that many times people post rather negatively and sometimes impolitely, but by and large the community has done all in its power to support the game. Purchasing Founder Packs, Premium Subscriptions and MC despite many glaring faults with the game.

Though the Space Pope does not mean to suggest that things cannot be fixed or that the forums could not be nicer, but claiming that what is posted here is anywhere near as big of a problem as the actual code of the game is a gross over exaggeration.

You get 'likes' for acting like a richard.

It's been like this since I arrived.

Tons of off-topic troll/moron-crap gets posted in most people's threads.

Like posting "It's beta." and getting likes for that when it should be deleted for being off-topic - Since everyone already knows it's a ******g beta. If you don't know what it is to be called thick by implication then you really are pitifully thick. So that's a part of what we call rude and disruptive off-topic posting.

Honestly, to me it seems the lack of moderation for rude and offtopic posting in these forums, and then adding a system with likes for posts that then get attached to profiles (you can like you own posts! - please just remove it!), is respectively allowing and then encouraging all of this.

And I'm not without blame myself. Just be rude to me and I will probably show you why. But this is because it seems like the only recourse. It's not like I do anything but retaliate. I'd much rather see the offending material moderated - But I never have.

Lin the problem with the design choices is that the favorites of the era... seem to be missing. If I can't have a Warhammer, I could have a Hammerhands!!! Gimme a Zeus or a Victor, I'll take a Black Knight, these are Mechs I WANT to pilot!

Alright PGI, we have a solution: JokerVictor will take over all coding responsibilities. He doesn't suck at it.

:)

Yes, cause that's exactly what I said. How can you be so uncritical? This game is a disaster.

Rule #1.

"You are not Always right." Even though you may think so.

Rule #2

"You're not the only person the devs are trying to please."

I've become much less of a ragenerd since they introduced the Command Chair. A little regular information goes a long way.

Hello,

Thanks for the great post OP.

To the rest of the people exemplifying what the OP stated, the phrase "it's beta", DEAL WITH IT" comes to mind. Cry into your pillow because "X" isn't how you want it to be. Wake up a few hours later, put on your big boy/girl pants and resume life.

Thanks.

Thank you those of you for validating the OP's post beyond a shadow of a doubt, it's the unproductive posts like yours that clog this forum with asshattery and shame the rest of us for being associated with your stark display of ignorance, intolerance and plain lack of respect in general. My hat goes off to you for so bravely demonstrating your very light sense of wit.

I realize things here can get heated, and yes, opinions are strong for various reasons.

To say folks on a forum that maybe 10% of players even bother to read is what's responsible for the current state of the game is to do nothing but shift the blame from where it lies.

We actually do have a 'small' influence in the grand scheme compared to projected monetization estimates, and if you believe anything that suggests otherwise, then well, I'm sorry but I have to call you a fool.

I agree this community needs to chill a bit, but it's not like we don't have reasons for being upset, or see any real solutions for why with the haphazard way PGI does things. Even if you were to remove all the "I like it this way vs. that way" posts...the forum would still be chock full of valid complaints.

That's our fault? When many were testers who warned of these problems with no small amount of precognition...some predictions have already come true.

I've listened to Russ a few times, and yes, I like him, but he's good at not really addressing a point once his mind is made up. Why should we act any different? This was obvious in the first NGNG cast mentioning the whole 3rd person thing, and no, he made no practical sense then, and still doesn't on the subject.

It is our time/money after all, Blake forbid we actually get a say as to how it's spent.

Wow, what a productive post. It's positively brimming with tolerance, respect and stunning wit.

If only everybody acted like you did, and accused entire threads of all of the things you just did, I'm sure these forums would become a decent place, and world peace would surely follow. ;)

Okay, well, I was joking. Sorry if I offended you. ;) I don't know anything about coding, but I assume it is kind of difficult, which is why I am willing to wait for things. I started in Open Beta, and so far this game is patching at a very fast rate: every Tuesday. Not bad, in my opinion.

This game needs fixing, but when it comes down to it, there is no comparison, in my opinion, for online mech combat. And I understand that that is why people have complaints: they love the game and want it to succeed. However, there are literally at least 10 new flame posts going up every day, harping on the SAME topics. It's tiring.

So, yes, I should get off the forums... :D

the problem is.. ppl are selfish.

just take a look what we got the past weeks :

lrm fix + light lagshields = more lights
more lights = more streakcats
more streakcats = more whining about streaks
streak fix + light lagshield = more lights
between that all the crying about DHS / Gauss / UAC/ 8 player teams

instead of learning and training ppl making weird threads like : "nerf this & and that oh and btw this suxx also"

thats how you ruin a game and you dont even notice it at all.
as for me.. MW:O is dead right now.. i dont see a point why i should keep playing it.
the community is premade vs pugs and foudners vs nonfounders
tho i thought i wouldnt see it in a MW game.. since the most of us should be in their mid 20 or even 30+ and know how to act mature.

And here I thought the myriad of bugs, barely functioning network code, and poor design choices were ruining the game. I had no idea it was me.

And I agree 100% on those issues being problematic - just that the tone of some discussion about it is, possibly, putting people off the game.

I just don't want to see this go the route of the CAOD forums for EVE - a greater hive of scum and villainy you won't find (outside of 4Chan or something at least...)

I'm not saying "don't discuss bugs."

I'm just asking people to stop insulting each other, stop accusing PGI / IGP of being worse than ******, etc.

I have many complaints about things in this game and some I've even "been a ****" about. I guess I'm just seeing my own part in this, and I know I see the tone in many other's posts, and hoping there is something we can do to make it better.

Press PGI on issues. Discuss. Argue. Just... do it politely, constructively. Re-read your posts before clicking "Post." I dunno. Something.

There are trolls on every forum, I feel like the people who think this forum is hostile, have not spent enough time on the internet.

On second thought DON'T because if you think this is an immature and 'toxic' community then you are in for a rude awakening.

This community IS mature and respectful compared to many online forums. Not saying its respectful enough but....

Yes.
It was us all along.

We weren't grateful when they told us they'll add third person. We weren't happy that we were getting dubs that aren't dubs, but more like 1.4s.

It was us all along.

Never mind that they promised first person only, and a whole lot of other things, that they're no longer interested in sticking to.

I am SHOCKED that I'm sinking a multi-million dollar company by simply telling them I do no want their proposed features. SHOCKED. This is like that one time 4chains sank Bioware simply by not playing their game, and reposting endless reposts of forum posts.

Because those things are what sink games. Not the developers being incompetent, or promises being broken. Or having the dev team troll users on the forum.

It was us all along.

For one side to stop killing the other, one side has to first stop killing the other.

If you want to stop the insults on the forum, don't respond with more insults.

Two wrongs don't make a right ;)

I find the gaming company interesting compared to other mediums. Communities are brought on board before production, when open beta rolls up they release builds of the game every so often and then ask for feedback. They've asked for it and they've got it in all it's forms, really, they probably expected the forums to be this volatile because of the ever changing aspects to the game.

So yeah you give people the medium to complain and criticise and they will.

There is always going to be jarring between PGI's vision of the game and that of different elements of the community.

While overall I trust PGI there have been some decisions that cause you to raise an eyebrow.

As long as it is constructive criticism or complaints then it shouldn't be a problem haha.

The state of the forum makes a lot more since when you realize that there are people sitting in 4chan talking about the best ways to troll our community.

This is one of the more respectful forums I visit. The whole OP reads to me like this.

In a perfect world...

And we all sure know that's a pipe dream. Then again don't worry it will all be OK some day! lol
