I am not sure now. Me no likey.

This game is in beta and much needs to be fixed and added.
It should have to be said "Don't screw people over or abuse the system."

Taryys, Yer snoot is out of sorts?... You should have smelled the stinker at least 10 posts sooner!

I'll give you a pass as it's getting later in the day. :D

I like the trial mechs, it takes a total of 15 minutes tops to figure out how to manage heat which is a basic aspect of play in Mechwarrior. I love running in them and proving every naysayer wrong when I blast the poopoo out of my enemies in their specialized, earned with rl money mechs. I take pride in having actually earned my mechs by playing what I believe to be a really fun game. There is just something about blasting your enemy into a useless pile of junk and watching them deathtwitch as you stomp over their flailing robotic corpse.

For now. The developers are eventually going to fix that. In the meantime it's an incredibly self-centered thing to do and goes a long way toward hurting the game.

Not sure where you would get that idea from.

In Internet slang, a troll ( /ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response.

I fail to see how relating my own personal thoughts, experiences, and ideas about this game, in a "General Discussion" board fits any of those criteria.

Seems to me you're just using "troll" as...

...a buzzword.

Hmmm... :o

I gave the OP the benefit of doubt.. and the post was well within a reasonable new player annoyance/irritation post language. I have not judged yet. I am waiting cautiously for my OP responses.

Thanks for the pass!!

I am believing that you are being genuine and not trolling, for now.

Oh, without a doubt.
I'm not trying to advocate suiciding in any way.

It's just, as a new player, it just is the best possible thing to do for my own advancement whenever I'm not playing with a group.

Interestingly enough, there's nothing in the game itself that lends itself to forming groups...
I mean yeah there is the actual group system, but actual, effective organization requires the player to leave the game and do things outside of it.

That does not do well for the immersion.
If I'm not mistaken, this game thrives off of immersion.
That's why it's first person, full keyboard, big stompy robots fighting and not a third person shooter, right?

The best way to advance yourself is by learning how to play the game. That will turn you into a valuable asset to a team and you'll be happier for it.

You post above suggested your advocation for suiciding.
Suiciding is in no way the best possible thing to do.
Playing the game the way it is intended is best possible thing to do.

Yea, the grouping and social aspects of the game have a lot to be desired. No argument there.
This will be changed at some point.
This is beta and things are broken and a crap load of functionality is not implemented yet.
Pre and post game chat room things are coming eventually.
It is on their massive list of things to do.

Let's say, just for example, that I'm the best player ever, and that I know every single bit of this game inside and out, and have the reflexes of a god.

Obviously none of these things are true, but let's assume them.

Oh look, suicide grinding is still the best, fastest way to earn money. Who would have thought?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh, I see the point of confusion.
You have been mistaking my intention all along.
Allow me to clarify.

*ahem*

I will not actively play this game until active play becomes more rewarding than passive play, i.e. suicide grinding.
As a new player, I had a lot of hope for this game, but this has turned me off of it.

I'll come back once the game is good, but as it is now, the game has lost a new player.

It is irrelevant which method is faster.
Doing so is a violation of the ToS and can get you banned, and destroys the game for everyone else.
Do not be a selfish ***. Play the game. Do not destroy it.
You can get reported and banned.

Please see my thread here:

Stop Hazing and Start Raising...

I am thinking that how fast you gain money is not the goal of the game.
The goal of the game to kill the opposing stompy robots.

Don't blame me. :-) Russ Bullock, the CEO of PGI, was on NGNG making the case for third person. I think the podcast is up now -- tell me if I'm wrong. :-)

Saying it is the best way to earn money is stretching things very thin to the point of nonexistant. Saying its the fastest way to earn money is also a theory and not a fact. Winning matches actually earns you substantially more money. That said, earning money fast isn't the point of this game. Its only going to get you so far. People notice when you suicide, they won't want you on their team. Having your brand spankin' new paid for by suicide mech torn to pieces because you haven't mastered basic concepts isn't fun. Fun is the point in this game. Suiciding can't possibly be fun. In fact, it appears to be about as fun as crafting on a MMORPG. Which we all know... isn't fun.

The podcast has been up for over 2 weeks.
Your comment has no place in this thread.
3rd person is not being discussed.
Thread crapping... not cool! :D

Y'all's thoughts?

What are you talking about?

Piloting a constantly overheating, paper-armored walking coffin is HALF THE FUN :D .

The other half is all the MISSILES making your mech sing and dance.

I've found that successful f2p games are "normal" amounts of fun if you don't pay, and more so if you do.

QFT

Is there any one in the community who DID NOT have any prior BT, MW or other mecha-type exposure / experience before this think the trial mech grind was interesting or fun? I would not be surprised to find such persons to be a very miniscule number.

@OP Suiciding IS the most efficient way to earn C-Bills. However, please give a thought to the other 7 guys in your team who most likely are just trying to have a good game. Having to start a man down is not helping especially when you may have disconnects / Crashes To Desktop and other wonderful bugs further whittling the team down further.

Looking forward to seeing the new user flow when they get round to it.
