For those wondering if simply giving the name of an exploiter is worth the time, yes, yes it is.
Their system uses stats tracking, and when a player is reported they are put under expanded stats tracking. They will be caught, not insta banned, but dealt with.

Source? I don't mean to be a jerk, but I'm curious if this has been said by PGI and I just missed it. Did I miss a giant how-to-be-a-MWO-player FAQ somewhere?

so is this a confirmation that The UrbanMechs are coming?

Yes, it is. They'll be here eventually, if nothing of a higher priority intrudes.

Unless, of course, some huge event happened which required lots and lots of different new mech types showing up all at once. Even then, it would be ok to handle.

Unless, of course, those lots and lots of new mechs also had an entirely new set of weapons that had to be integrated and balanced against what all is already here.

But that's about as unlikely as the old Star League suddenly showing back up after all this time....

1) Simply report the user's name to support@mwomercs.com
2) If you can, but not needed, supply a screenshot.
3) In the subject of the email... include the phrase "suicide farming" or the appropriate action the player is performing.
4) Relax as that person has been put on a watch list.
5) People abusing this system will also be put on a watch list... but that's a different matter. :)

I actually run MSI every match now so i can screen grab/record where dodgy goings on are happening.. ..like last night when some dude decided to DC just before he got killed. ..or another dude who actually typed that he was going to nothing and just get the c-bills at end of match - all because he didnt like playing with people who didnt follow military tactics lol.

I would encourage people to please give some people the benefit-of-the-doubt when issuing reports. Reporting a teamkiller, a deliberate overheater, a griefer, or a spammer is great and to ne highly encouraged... but often there's no malicious intent behind someone who's Mech appears but the pilot gives no input at all, or if they get disconnected before the Match Timer gets to zero. That happened to me a few times recently, and I kept wondering to myself if anyone thought I was farming.

Yup, the black screen at startup issue is one example, or the random game crash where your mech will keep moving even after you have crashed...

It's really easy to tell who is doing it. I'm assuming PGI has taken the basic measures 'search for trial mechs with average life span < 1 minute || average dmg < 80 || kills of self > 20'

It's gotten to the point that we know some of the farmers and people say something before the game even starts.

How are those economy/NPE tweaks coming along, so that people feel welcome in the game and not encouraged to not-play?

Despite what mr. Bullock said, trials are not fine and they're not fun (because stock configs from TT don't work with 3x heat generation of MWO). No wonder people suicide their way to an actual mech instead of a paper-armored, low-ammo carrying, slow, mobile coffin-slash-oven that doesn't even get XP :) .

I do hope you're working hard on curing the cause, not merely symptoms here.

so instead of fixing the reason people can/do suicide grind, just ban everyone who is reported for doing so....
the sad thing is we all know you have no way to monitor player stats ingame other then what other players tell you... so it's all word of mouth.

time to find 30+ people to report randoms.

also, obligatory " trails aren't bad just L2P"

Be careful though, if you submit too many tickets, they'll kindly ask you to stop reporting players. It's a known issue, and it's been discussed on the forums.

http://www.howtospot...-award-goes-to/

Some excerpts if you don't want to read the whole thing.
This is the reason your tickets are marked as "solved" - because the report has been logged, investigated (fully) and we have moved on to the next tickets. I've noticed that you have an exorbitant amount of tickets (36, at this point in time), many of which are player reports and duplicate player reports - we are at the point now that I have to ask you to stop submitting tickets. We are aware of the situation, we have addressed it on the forums, and are taking actions against players as we speak. It takes time to investigate each report as we must go through logs and make a proper audit trail, contact the players, etc... and the more tickets we have to process, the longer it takes to build a report about each user.

This is pretty clear to me. Every time you send us another ticket, you are slowing us down. I will be solving all of your tickets after logging them in our system. If you continue to contact us on this matter, I will consider it harassment and be forced to suspend your account.

Please note that this is not my blog post, and I have no idea who's it is. Also, the emphasis was added by me.

MechWarriors,

As you're all well aware, there have been bots, hacking and attempts to defraud the ComStar Bills monetary systems through multiple channels. ComStar cannot, and will not let this happen and have ordered the Com Guards to eliminate any so called ‘mercenaries’ daring to do so. Their BattleMechs will be melted down and forged into UrbanMechs.

If you're aware of any plot against ComStar, do not hesitate to send any screenshots or proof you might have to our support team of ComGuards, as they are the first source of information for our army to track down the traitors.

Sharilar Mori is rolling in their grave, this is blakist talk.

You want to pull people away from it? Make playing more remunerative. Right now the current economy and gameplay makes this kind of activity more enjoyable, not to mention you don't stop and think about the social aspect of it all.

It's a strike, they're picketing you and with good reason. Never have I seen a mechwarrior game where half the weapons aren't even Viable. Pulse Lasers, the energy alternative to low damage high fire rate weapons, USELESS SUCH A SIMPLE FIX. And I wonder just how much Clan mechs will be over heating, true given its a year, but at the current numbers nothing is realistic.

I understand you feel you are doing your job, but calling it that doesn't make it right. Many have written some of the most indepth alternatives, suggestions, fixes only to be followed up with a barrage of rhetoric the likes I had only seen on the Diablo 3 forums. While on the other hand their choices and ethics are highly questionable, making the conversation even more bitter. It would seem that for us getting a 1 on 1 response upstairs or even a wavering compromise is out of the question.

Who is really Ahab? We may never know, but I can say that I was glad to have grabbed the orange.

This. Would. Be. Freaking. AWESOME!

Would pay for this feature. :)

Ok Ishmael,

The current economy could use some tweaking and in places a potential overhaul however lets not get into starting to let people think these people are Robin Hooding. They are not playing the game so any enjoyment they may derive comes from abusing a system and the only "social aspect" of it worth considering is the damaged enjoyment and long term effect they are having on hte people who actually try to play the game but get screwed over by the griefers and cheaters.

They are not "on strike" They are cheating. They are breaking the rules, they are not on a noble crusade, they are gaming the system to get ahead with out actually having to do something. If they are not self-indulgent entitled children they sure as hell act that way, they lose any potential legitimacy to a "statement" when in the act of their "protest" they do irreparable harm to the enjoyment of the game. As to the weapons most of them are balanced and viable a handful need some serious work but most can do with tweaks, there are some issues but it's not as bad as you are trying to make it out.

They are following the terms of service that we all agreed to. I won't mince words here, cheaters and griefers are scum and need to be culled from the communities they try to poison. This is a game, this is about a enjoyment, not enjoying the game doesn't give you license to break it. Voice your concerns in a reasonable way, but the cheating and griefing is inexcusable and a heavy hand is not only welcome it's encouraged by many of us just tired of the ********. Don't break the rules you explicitly agreed to and the enforcers won't come for you.

That said I think you are being unfair, while I to am not 100% satisfied with the way everything is being handled, PGI has upped their communication significantly of late. And while there are many thing I've seen that haven't been fixed yet and are sources of frustration i do not know what is happening inside the studio so for now I put my faith that the devs want the game to work as much or more than we do. It's ok to be critical, it's important actually, but at some point it crosses from constructive to destructive and it's happening all sides of most every issue.

Also say no to 3PV (see i do have complaints.)

You do realize this encourages us to have more horrible defrauders....

...if it means we get a good supply of Urbanmechs sooner.

I fully support turning inferior mercenary frauds into proper, honest Urbies for use by real Mechwarriors and expect to start seeing the 30-ton instruments of karmic justice available ASAP.

The easiest way is (if you have steam) to run it through steam.

- run steam as an administrator (this is important so MWO doesn't go wonky on you)
- go to games and select "add a non-steam game to your library"
- Select the MWO .exe and tell it to add it to your library.
- run it like you would any steam game
- BAM! you now have access to the steam overlay/chat and the steam hotkeys such as the F12 Screen shot

just make sure you run steam as an admin before luanching MWO because it can cause errors and fail to properly access the overlay,etc... if you don't. Also this in no way changes, interferes, or harms the MWO client and you can still run it separately if you'd like.

There really needs to be a way to do this in game. Perhaps a way to report a player, give a brief description of what we saw plus take an automagic screenshot or better yet a way to send a replay of the battle to support.

Trying to go out of the game, find the screenshot then open up my email program just to send a message isn't very intuitive. Automate the System. It's what Jerome Blake would do.

Can you melt my Founder Jenner into an Urbanmech?

I've not been hacking or doing anything of that nature as I love Comstar, and if htey were currently hiring, I'd join up in a second.

But I want a pony Urbanmech. Truly I do! Please mister Primus, for Christmas will you bring me an Urbanmech?
