We can't we see our own Elo rating? Soon I am going to play some more in this game
and it would be nice to see how I am improving (or not). Stop hiding info from us.
It is getting old and annoying.

What do you think?

That or just make it visible for all. There is no shame in such stats.

No. Information is bad for the players.

Gives them reason to express stupid viewpoints based on the assumption this stat had any meaning beyond it's function. Other than that I doubt a lot of people truely understand how Elo works and thus will flood the forums with posts about how it isn't working and must be bugged. Which they already do without having their score.

Just for example: One misconception still is that this stat would somehow measure individual skill while it does not. It is purely based on win or loss. So what it measures - and it does so quite indirectly - is the skill of a team.

This means for solo players: On average and the long run your Elo rating will stagnate if you're good because that helps turning the tide in close games half of time. Means you are not hindering the team if the rest of the team is good players aswell but if the rest of the team is bad they'll drag youu down to a loss. If you're bad your Elo will fall until you're good and keep it at in a stagnating state.

For Team Players that allways drop with the same people and just them: You will all have the same Elo rating.

This of course is based on what information we have about the system from official side.

Me thinks this Poll is just a bit slanted in it's options. Yes's are split, but the no vote combines two concepts, one of which is intended to drive people away from it.

I still want to know my ELO.

I honestly don't care about stat number, all I want is exciting matches. Therefore I'd prefer Elo to be working invisibly in the background to give me the best experience possible.

No, ELO is for matchmaking purposes, it is not a valid public statistic

it is NOT a leaderboard ranking, i repeat, it is NOT some kind of leaderboard ranking...

I had to think really hard about this question.

I voted No, keep it secret.

As a player, I'm really curious how I rank compared to everyone else, and I want to know so I can try to improve it.

I take off my player hat and think like a Dev, and I immediately go "I don't want my players flexing their ELO wangs at each other, this game is about making your own personal walking tank and blowing other people up with it. As soon as you start having rankings that affect things players will fixate on them, to the game's detriment."

So, yeah. I do think ELO needs more tweaking (hate fighting Assaults + Lights as a bunch of Meds + Heavies) but I don't think player awareness will add anything but rage and trolling.

It is split because there really is two options. Some games don't hide stats for the public (World of Tanks) so that is also one option.

You can vote no to the public stats but still vote yes for personal stats. Some people would very much like to see how they are doing while not letting others do the same.

If you can see it, you can game the system. MWO players never try to game match making systems do they?

Not new at all.

I really like the way WoT does it. That is not Elo though but the stats. When I think about it, maybe I am that jerk because I have indeed stat-argued when people was bullshitting about bad tanks in that game.

I still would like them to be public. Or at least personal if not public.

I cannot understand why people fear information on a personal basis.

Making elo public would directly lead to inflated elitism. Seen it time and again in nearly every MMO and MOG out there.

My god man, the forums are bad enough as is.

Additionally if you provide the elo ratings even privately to players it's only a matter of time before they figure out a way to 'game' the system. Intentionally lowering their ratings to troll those in lower tiers and whatnot.

If Elo is made visible it *will* be used like Gear Score in WoW or K:Dr / Score/min in BF3 and it *will* create an extremely toxic atmosphere on the forums, elitism will be rife.

No thanks.
