What other mechwarrior esque names could you use?

Was it the Mercenary Review and Bonding Commission on MW4 Mercs MRBC?

MRBC was MW4: Mercs, yeah, so I'm not sure if that existed at this point in the timeline. As for what else to call it, give me a few days, something might come to me. I'm stumped for now though.

I got 2 domain names... mwobattlelog.com and mwolog.com

I take suggestions also if you guys have something else to propose!

The site is almost ready to be shared, the big issue right now is finding somewhere to host it. I have a gaming/work system and 2 laptops. So I need to purchase another PC to host this baby or get some crappy shared virtualized hosting, but my experience with them is that they're fuxxing slow.

OR, does anybody have a webserver somewhere I could use while I get the missing parts to build a server??

Added auto-magic ajax filters :) Your preferences are saved "in session", so whatever you set it to will stick when you reload the page. If you log out/close browser/become inactive, you will need to set them back again.

I also added the Current Mech in session so you don't always have to select it when logging a battle.

Hi,

Found some temporary solution to my hosting problems.

Feel free to try the Battle Log at mwobattlelog.com or mwolog.com!

Note that this is a very early *alpha* version of what's to come. Expect bugs and very limited features. There not much you can do as of right now beside log and see your own stats. More features are planned.

I would really appreciate if you guys gave me some input in this thread.

Note: updated the initial post.

I recommend logging your data after every battle. There is a little feature that auto-calculates the battle time when you play multiple games. Basically it determines the battle time by comparing the new battle log creation vs. the previous one.

Also, you really have to log after every fight in order to input the Repair costs!

Good point. I'll probably skip the repair logging. My focus is on my personal skill curve.

I would hope no one was using all their same account info.

  • You can use a different password than your mwomercs account, buddy. I really hope you use different password for every site you register on.
  • The password is salted/hashed and even I cannot know what it is, that's like a very basic rule. All I could do is reset it to something else.
So no worries, nobody's gonna steal anyone's account :)

I could implement something like OpenId/Facebook authentication in the future. I've done that on plenty of sites.

I've added the ability to view other user's battle logs.

As an example, you can see my battle logs here:
http://mwobattlelog....User?user=Arnon

I'm not sure if I'm going to allow user to set a private profile. What do yo guys think? The more data visible on the site, the more people will use it. If everybody makes their profile private, then there won't be any activity visible to others on the site...

BUT, if every profile is public, some people will cheat and put crazy numbers in there.... Still toying with that idea. I'll adapt depending on input I get.

Updated the http://mwolog.com DNS to redirect to http://mwobattlelog.com. DNS should update soon.

You can use either to get into the site but mwobattlelog.com will be official, for now. I might change the whole name and get a new domain if I have a better suggestion.

Create your account, create at least 1 Mech in your hangar, then log battles.

Your stat page will be visible at http://mwobattlelog...._USER_NAME_HERE

Example:
http://mwobattlelog....User?user=Arnon

I could make it more obvious what's the shareable stat page link. Also, i've been thinking it would be nice to create JPEG's from your stats in real time in order to share forum signatures. I'll work on this over the weekend if I have some time!

Hey, if you're still in need of a host I can definitely help out for this project. My gaming domains website(s) is under development since I quit WoW, but seeing as you already have domain names they could simply be pointed to a sub-domain that includes unlimited bandwidth, unlimited storage, e-mails and more. Please PM me? or reply here if you're interested and we can go from there.. dsdgaming.com (Dirty South Designs Gaming)

Also, I am proficient in photoshop, and web design, and have been so for 16 years now. I can help with a custom logo and graphic enhancements if you so require, FoC of course, as that has always been my fee for non-profit gaming websites and, or organizations.

If your hosting needs are already filled, then I wish your project a lot of deserved success and accolades!

PGI needs to hire you. Especially considering the fact they can't fix their own damn website. It logs me out ever 30 minutes regardless of what I am doing. So annoying!

Would be so good to have this.

I wonder if EA would try start a legal battle if this was implemented knowing them,it's a carbon copy of Battlefield's battlelog.

Hey there. For now I *think* I will be fine with my current setup. (Hosting the site on a spare laptop..... really not the best, but will do for now, hahah!). I could use a hand with web design though. I will contact you in the future. I think a CSS overhaul could be useful + some custom graphics. I just used a couple icons and stuff from the web (plus my personnal "prog-art" haha).

I've never played BF3 and had no idea about EA's "battlelog". I'd be REALLY surprised if they felt it had anything to do with their thing. And I can always rename the site and change the domain name. Just buy a new domain for 10 bucks and we're done.

Checking EA's battlelog site rigth now... Looks pretty awesome!

Why can't you get all that data directly from PGI? I'm sure they keep records of that...or perhaps it's confidental? I really like what you've done here. Be great if they have damage numbers per player. Think WoW battlelog.

I wish I could, but there is no way to do this at the moment (as far as I know of).

We would need PGI to expose a public API/webservices in order to fetch the results and display them straight from the source.

Alternatively, they could dump log files to some folder. But then you would need to upload the log files to the website. That would still be extra steps!

With either solution, though, I could most likely extract way more data than currently (and much quickly). In the meantime, you can enter stuff manually and see some of your own tendencies/progression!

Try it out!
