I'd be totally down to use this on two conditions:
Privatised information / custom sharing options
Group collaboration / corp information (with same privacy options)

I know it may seem random, but perhaps a friends list or watch list.

Some privacy options could be
Public
Private (self-only)
Watch-List (people who are specifically watching you
Friends (and corp)

You know what, I think you're onto something.

I would agree with that with some conditions:
  • if you've set blocking privacy settings, you still contribute to general stats. Basically, If you've set your profile to Private, you would still contribute to general stats: ie., Average damage by an Atlas during the last day
  • Any user checking out the site would see that "Someone" posted your battle result. The point behind this is that it keeps your privacy yet it creates activity on the site (people see "Someone" instead of your real username).
I want people to get the "feel" of where the stats come from.

"Oh look, someone JUST posted a battle log doing crazy damage..." : You get to know that some other people are actively using the site, you can see their battle logs, yet you don't know WHO they are.

Would that be a good compromise?

Why this whole thing hasn't already been incorporated is beyond my understanding. Coolest idea I've seen for this game yet.

Yea, that would definitely work.
It makes perfect sense to have simple data displayed for everyone.
But definitely having Anonymous or Someone as an act of privacy would be excellent.

Upcomming feature

As soon as I get a couple free hours, I'll normalize Mech Models and Variants into the site. Right now, you just create your mechs using free text. By "normalizing" it, i'll be able to show stats per model/variant for all battle logs, to the user or global level (basically, you'll have to select Models and Variants using dropdown lists in your hangar, but no worries, I'll do a script to convert the existing Hangars into the normalized version).

So, we'll get to know what model/variant does the most damage/xp for ALL user or for a specific user. Example: this should allow comparing ...
YOUR Jenner JR7-D vs everyone else's JR7-D
Your JennerS (all variants) vs your JR7-D

Basically, it will be an A-B compare feature.
A: Filter Users (you, all), Mech Models, Mech Variants, Map, Time Lapse
B: Filter Users (you, all), Mech Models, Mech Variants, Map, Time Lapse

Below appears the same stats we have, except with a graph underneat to show the scale of A vs B.

Hard to explain precisely, but you get the idea.

Great! It will be very simple to implement public/private profile.
The share with group/clan/friend/watch-list granularity will have to wait though. I will need to think of a good way to do it. But public/private should work for now.

Hey there. For now I *think* I will be fine with my current setup. (Hosting the site on a spare laptop..... really not the best, but will do for now, hahah!). I could use a hand with web design though. I will contact you in the future. I think a CSS overhaul could be useful + some custom graphics. I just used a couple icons and stuff from the web (plus my personnal "prog-art" haha).

Understood, Arnon, please do contact me when needed and I can definitely lend you a hand - albeit web design, hosting, customized CSS layouts, icons and, or logos. Basically whatever you need, Arnon, aside from hard coding such as C++, .ASP or the likes. Please keep me in mind, regardless, as I would love to contribute to your project in any shape, form, or fashion that I am able to.

All I ask is that in your privacy policy and, or copyright nfo that you include my handle only... and state that said graphics, code and, or design are the property of yourself, or your website(s). If you throw my name in cool, if not cool.. I ask this basically so no one rips said gfx/code from your website without thinking about the results first. I saw a lot of my work ripped, especially in late 90's and early 2K. Definitely hit me up, regardless dude.

Thank you, in advance, for your time - and best of luck!

PGI really need to release an API key of some kind, would make things a lot easier, mainly because I forget to screen shot both the end of the match and the repair costs.

Plus with the API key it would record past battles.

Anyone having an issue with in game screen shots coming out completely black when using print screen at the end of a battle>pasting to paint? I am having to use Fraps to successfully grab my screen shots, atm. Even if I prtscrn and paste directly into photoshop I receive the same "black screen image" when pasted.

Yes, but I think the black screen is perfectly normal. I believe it's Windows not read your videocard's framebuffer when doing screenshots, or something like that. So even Windowed, the game shows as black. Maybe it's an nVidia/driver thing tho!

I think that FRAPS works great. Especially when you group/order the fraps screenshot folder by Date.

Hrmm, I am running nVidia beta drivers until the next WHQL release (black ops2 and assassin's creed 3 require beta drivers for best performance right now). Good point and I agree fraps does make it easy to screenshot write down repairs and keep on jiving!
