2 team chats
3 cracking trees when you run them over
4 painting you mech
5 enviromental damage

- Planetary Assault -

In keeping with canon and offering a truly unique game play mode I propose "Planetary Assault" The mode is simple, two teams drop to fight over orbital guns. Initially only a single lance from each team enters the match, however there are three orbital guns on the map, once a gun is captured the controlling team can drop another lance in a safe zone on the map. Seeing as how there are three guns eventually 12 players can potentially be on each side.

On the mechanics of the orbital guns in Planetary Assault

1. Orbital guns can be destroyed, allowing both teams to drop a lance with a short delay. (this could also be the guns generator to save the devs from having to animate and implement a giant cannon exploding)
2. Orbital guns can be controlled, allowing one team to drop a lance with a short delay, and the other team being denied a drop.
3. Orbital guns can be captured from the other team during their drop, causing the gun to fire on and destroy the dropship, with a random roll determining what mechs will be destroyed in the crash, and which ones will be severely damaged. Mechs with jump jets will receive a bonus against damage in a downed dropship.
4. If an orbital gun is captured while dropping an enemy lance, the capturing team will be able to drop their own lance as well (with a time delay of course.

What makes this game mode extremely dynamic is that;
1. Teams will need to drop with light and medium light killer mechs to initially capture orbital guns or go for a quick victory by eliminating the enemies initial lance.

2. The second lance to drop will be the most vulnerable to having their dropship shot down, thus the second lance has a prerogative to drop with jump jet equipped mechs (mediums and select heavies)

3. The third lance will be going in to do the heaviest brawling, so naturally they will be Assaults, as they will need to be able to destroy all enemy mechs and dropships.

Furthermore, this game mode would be great because there are multiple ways to achieve victory.

1. Capture enough guns to drop enough of your teammates and destroy all enemy forces.
2. Destroy guns and bring the match to an all out brawl.
3. Quickly destroy the enemy lance and deny them the opposing team the capability to drop.

On a last note, I envision this game mode would allow that drop ships could have external weapons (destructible of course) and that the dropships themselves were destructible while on ground. In addition, the dropships should have the capability of repairing and re-arming a single friendly mech at a time, however this mech would be severely crippled, or completely destroyed if the dropship is destroyed by enemy forces during repair.

Each side would need a commander to choose mech load outs per lance, and coordinate offensive and defensive strategies depending on the other teams tactics. During the entire match the commanders will have to balance offense and defense, in the initial phase of capturing/ destroying guns, and the second phase of defending/ destroying dropships.

The devs would have to really put some effort into the dropship mechanics, but if this game mode were ever implemented in the way I envision it "Planetary Assault" would be one of the most true to canon, as well as giving the Clan/Faction groups a serious game mode to duke it out.

Cheers,

Beef Hands

___Edit___
An amazing addition would be a non fighting commander who controls the drop ships weapon systems in lieu of having automated weapons (automated weapons could prove contentious in determining their accuracy) as well as commanding the mechs on the ground.

This game mode will not be entirely suitable for anyone who is not on C3 or TS3, It would be far and away the most team oriented mode available.

I think that an Assault mode could be great. The Attacker arrive via Dropships (respawn), the defender via a Mech hangar (respawn).
The main target for the attacker is to destroy the hangar, for the defenders to destroy the Dropship.

Naturaly, can be any side target. (Communication relays, AA batterys, ...etc.)

Combined arms

Have tanks\hover tanks, power armors\ultralight mechs and so on that's piloted by and AI on certain maps.

An actual BASE to assault, with cannon turrets, walls, gates, power generators etc.

I'd like to see an area where you can Sign up for "Faction War" Where you are added to a large que (24)of your faction vs (24) opposing faction, when the que is full on both sides it launchs, 3 seperate games of 8v8 and at the end of all 3 matches gives either more rewards or some bonus to your faction to the big winner, i.e. 2-1 or 3-0...

or ie. a merc corp could que up this way togeather. and play in seperate matchs, winning the battle which has an affect on the war.

Team Extermination:
A 8v8 game mode where the objective is strictly to eliminate the enemy team. The mode should have a 10 minute limit and consist a a scoring system in rounds. To win a round, you must either your team eliminate the opposing, or in the event where time runs out, which ever team has more members alive will receive the round point. First to 3 rounds wins.

Team swap. When a person dies from one team they respawn as the other team. I know that there are no losers its just for fun.

What about a clan style blood name match where 10 or 20 start and only one can survive and recieves a bonus reward... ie tech or mech that can only be gained by people that win. Making them identifyable as skilled or lucky players...? Only an idea

My other idea involves mercinary corps taking on others or houses for bigger rewards in a tornament style match. Simply put Each team puts in 3 or 4 teams that battle 8 v 8 and after the first encounter the surviving teams mechs duke it out in a second round. That way teams are rewarded for the skill of the entire company and overall skill means a numbers benifit in the second stage.... Just an idea but I think it could help mech companies get rated as far as skill levels

Here is an idea...

Objective orientated, assault and there should be 5 maps.

2 teams, playing a sort of tug-of-war on those 5 maps... both teams vote on their favourite maps (2 of them, which will be their home bases/maps) and the 3rd will be a random map (the one which the initial combat will start from).

There should be primary and secondary objectives. Obviously, if the primary is captured/destroyed, then the winning team pushes into the next (enemy) base. And if the team manages to snag a couple of secondary objectives, then they get a small buff on the next map. Here is a scenario:
-Primary:
---Destroy Mech repair bay (this should also affect gameplay later on, this will be explained)
-Secondary:
---Capture/destroy spaceport/airfield (which will give a buff on calling support, or neutralize their's)
---Capture/destroy Turret control tower (which makes it easier to accomplish the primary, or help your team out later, which I will explain)

Now the one team manages to accomplish this and moves into the enemy territory, now the objectives change again (randomly, depending on the maps). Now the team loses and gets pushed back to the map they had won on... but with a twist... If the turret control tower had been destoyed, then it won't reappear, leaving previous defeated team defenceless, or if your team decided to capture it... then the enemy team will have a nasty surprise, in trying to finish their primary objective. But a new secondary would take its place, like destroy/capture the communications relay tower, which will either buff, or disrupt, you or the enemy.

So team decisions will have to be made on the secondary objectives... but it will help in shortening the whole match in the long run. Where a match had taken 15 minutes to finished (including the secondaries), the next bout (if it were to end up like that), would be 5 minutes...

So in essence, a dynamic, objective orientated, tug-of-war, team based, campaign, whatever one would like to call it... hell if there were a multiplayer campaign mode featuring something like this... I would play it...

So what do you guys think?

I can go on and on around this topic... but I would like to know if this would fit with everyone, before I start a monologue :P

solaris match
all against each others? or same weight match?
ok now the ballancing:
the more heavyer the mech, the least is the price ("its not a big show so see a atlas wining a competition against lights"), so as the reverse the lightier the more weard, or just SQL players to sort the matches for only same weights.

defend base.
this could be by turn with 2 teams, one round one is defending, second round atacking
each team have a dropship, those esferic dropships from previouse games.
the map should be big and with 3 sectors, 1º sector: the drop ship, 2º sector: mid map with defending turrects and the 3rd sector atacking team spawn.
ok so the game will have 2 rounds, first all spawn with ligh/medium mechs to engage on the 2 sector, defending team have turrets to help, and atacking team will have armored cars to help. after atacking team win in that sector players can change or repare mechs on repare bays, players have 3 tickets to win this round, if all the 3 tickets are spent for each player or this round the team loses and switches, if they win, tickets are restored and 2 round procedes, ataquing the dropship, the defending drop ship is fortificated depending the level of the enemy team comparing to the defending team ("comparing time should use parameters like: score players betwen the players, power of the mechs, and the speed that the first round took to acomplish" if any of these are high the drop ship will be harder to defeat")
the dropship should have towers helping the controlls of the weapons aboard it and if destroyed the dropship will gain weapon cooldown.
ataquing team should have bombers to help "flying ships" those can be destroyed.
ok now the respawn, atacking players that respawn, should respawn on sector 2, defender players should respawn on a sector way back to the dropship sector, as like an sector 0.
the map should be big and the players should not spwan all at the same spot, at least 500m distance.
oh one more thing, if all the dropship weapons are disabled, as the dropship becomes very fragil it will try to escape
This could be kinda confusing my ingrish is the not the best ,if interested comment and ask for questions, the ideia can be changed to create more balance if needed.

btw, you guys must insert music ingame, try to see how much time it takes for the heavy fire to start in these beta matches to create an average time, the music should start with an warmup sound, like those army drumms "prepare for battle thing", and should start to blast wen heavy fire begins, 132 bpms are awsome and drop that bass! woob woob those machines and rev those engines baby! and you must ******* create battle guitar riffs. you have everything to create a good game here don't ruin it!.

I'm new to mechwarrior online but I own and have played repeatedly all previous version of mechwarrior. I logged on and immediately said "ok, pvp sure but where is....?": So, my first question - Is this game going to only be about pvp? Yes I enjoy mech wars with other people, but what about the rpg element of doing missions on planets, even co-op modes, buliding up your money/exp/mech plans. I enjoyed the clan stories, which to join and what certain gear they may have. Is this game going to only be about pvp? I feel that would be a bit of a betrayel to the genre... Alot of copies over the years trying to be mechwarrior, but OG mechwarrior was not a pvp only game.

I would suggest, the hardcore gameplay. Heat/armor/damage from the tabletop battletech. :D

how about JUGGERNAUT?

I see this a lot in TF2's Saxton Hale mode, one gets to be an atlas or other hulking Assault mech with advanced speed and weps, while the others are forced to be either light to medium mechs for balance... whoever kills/ does the most damage to the Lone Advanced Assault Mech gets the both bragging rights and maybe a bigger paycheck then the rest, backstabbing and teamkilling is allowed but doing so may **** off allies and end one's life quickly...

how about INVASION?

maybe a take on TF2's Mann VS Machine were a group of friends 3-4 take on an escalating weight-class of mechs who want to destroy an HPG...

just throwing it out there

PROTECT VIP PERSONALITY.

I have a idea for a new kind of mision, that don't needed big changes in the system.

The idea it's, that one of the players of one team, its a "high oficer" or personality in a visit to the front, and suffers and ambush.

The "atacker" team wins if this player is destroyed, and the "defensors" teams wins if the oficer player can arrive at the extraction point safely.

The oficer player must be in a Assault mech, or even in a heavy mech, but always in a mech "slow". An high oficer never will go in a raven or a jenner (and it will be very very very hard to destroy it before it can arrive to a point).

¿what do you think about it?

**: sorry if i make some mistake with my english

once the Clan invasion starts can we do an Invasion wave-type mode with the voice of Nicholai Malthus of Clan Jade Falcon leading the assault... I can actually do the voicework near perfectly. for those who don't know who I am referring to, it was the (canon?) Battletech cartoon series from the 90's (that I have tried everywhere to get on DVD but is practically NOWHERE except the ripped vhs files on sarna.net) in which he leads the clan invasion into the innersphere. http://www.sarna.net...Nicolai_Malthus

"I am Star Colonel Nicholai Malthus of Clan Jade Falcon, your planet is under clan control and you are now our subjects, power down your weapons or face complete and total annihilation"

"they dare challenge us? commander, send in the first Star to deal with these pests."

"ah, they wish a warrior's death, commander, send in the next force... crush them into dust"

"AUGH! COMMANDER! send in the rest of the reserve Trinary!"
commander-"sir, I do not think that is wise, we should wait for reinforcements and fortify our positions."
"SEND IN THE REST OF THE RESERVES OR I WILL LIQUIDATE YOU WHERE YOU STAND!"
commander-"very well, Star Colonel"

"INCOMPETENT FOOLS!, I SHALL DEAL WITH YOU MYSELF!"

"NOOOOOOOooo! I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE FREEBIRTH SLAAG, I SWEAR TO KERENSKY, I WILL MAKE YOU PAY... WITH YOUR LIVES!"
