Seriously, man, you've got to get over this 'light Mecha are OP thing. Commandos are incredibly easy to kill, I know, I'm grinding through them for XP. Even if you boost the armor to max they're super fragile. Ok, so you throw some ECM on one of them and your streakcat is useless, Too bad?

Adapt. Maybe instead of 6 streaks, you take a couple streaks out and throw some medium lasers back in? Or better yet, partner up with someone who can help you kill the Commando. Seriously, 12 - 16 points of armor on the CT stock is not too difficult. Neither is 10-12 points on the legs... Commandos are really easy to kill. Your porblem is ballistics are difficult to aim on some one circle strafing you and streaks don't lock at less than 180m with ECM active. Don't whine, adapt.

1) A1 only has missile hardpoints, no energy.
2) Even with normal SRMs, because of the lag, fast-moving mechs are ALWAYS somewhere other than where they appear to be on my screen. I literally CANNOT hit them with lasers, SRMs, AC, etc. Even if my comp shows a hit, it won't have done any damage to them.

If you have SRMcat, set the SRMs to chain fire, "spray" the area that the commando is moving through with SRMs.

It was a while ago. the QQ nerf the 130kph hunchback threads were far more prevalent than streak cat threads.

Oh you're right. Forgot about the 4P blur of speed and medium lasers.

Step 1: Find someone with lasers, preferably a light or medium.
Step 2: Stay near them.

Yea, I just chewed up a 6xSRM6 Cat in my Commando who tried that. They just couldn't hit.

I just use an AC/20 or massed PPCs on lights; it works great, especially if you wait to hit them when their back is turned. Just aim ahead of their movements, being sure to take their rate of turn and observed lag frame duration into consideration.

I dunno what to tell you. It works for me with my ctf-2x and I only mount two SRMs on him.

I'm a commando pilot and I found this to be absolutely hilarious.

I do that in my atlas a lot, lights freak out when they realize the atlas they were trying to kill can hit them.

That's the problem; the OBSERVED lag and the REAL lag are completely different. I can show a hit from 2 Gauss on a moving Jenner, and their paper doll will not show any damage.

Not always, of course; I get lucky, sometimes, but it's so prevalent that unless my PUG has people actually willing to help (usually, even if I scream and drag the thing over to them, they keep shooting at their own targets), I might as well shut down when I see one coming.

And it's not just me: I have the opposite experience when running the Commando. Run up, get lock, circle around while holding the button down. I can only imagine that if I didn't have the lag and my opponents did...

The Space Pope finds Commandos the easiest Mech to kill, damage or counter in the entire game.

Though naturally, ping or other factors might make a difference.

OK, so let me get this straight: The Jenner pilots complaining that there was actually a Heavy mech out there that could kill them, and that WASN'T whinging, but now that 2 more Light mechs can easily kill Heavy mechs without serious risk of getting killed in return, that IS whinging.

So, I wonder what class of mech you pilot...

So when the enemy ECM mech is standing next to him and you have to choose between not being able to fire yourself or open yourself up to being 2 shot... which one are you going to chose?

You don't get it. Streakcats might run with an ECM partner, but then that's a team you're fighting. If you are solo vs a pair of mechs and you can get away or stay out of the situation, that's the smart play.

By and large, Streakcats are going to get swarmed by ECM carrying mechs if they show up. It will be like they are holding up a "kill me now" sign to ECM Commandos, Ravens, and Cicadas. They will need every ECM mech on their team to counter the counters and get a lock. It's not going to happen.

Really? I find Hunchbacks the easiest to kill, followed by Centurions, then maybe Awesomes. Jenners and Cicadas head my list of hardest to kill, although ECM has put Commandos and Ravens right up there with them.

I piloted Commandos before they were good. Totally not being a hipster here. Totally not trying to derail this thread for being pointless, either.

1 Volley of LRM 20s, 1 Guass/AC20 hits, little over 2 SRM6 hits, 3ish solid Large Laser hits, 1 acknowledment that I exist from a Streakcat, any of those will end a Commando.

Generally speaking, when in one of my Commandos, I am afforded 1 mistake before I die, Ill survive being raked by a few lasers a few times, but any hard hit and I am gone, heck, Ive been killed by a Guass shot that missed my teammate and stray LRMs that broke their lock on someone else.
