I see this build fairly often, and I always wonder why you would do this on an IM and not a 3D. The ability to jump would seem to me to be a much bigger benefit than having to armor a second arm in order to make use of it.

Ilya lets you have both guns in the arms (letting you swing them where you want)

I run a similar one on my 3D - but it is a lot more awkward - the JJ do NOT completely counter the loss of arm-swing. ;)

Honestly, i'm doing it because it works for me, it probably doesn't make the most sense, but the IM is the only phract i have right now, i bought the IM on sale to grind c-bills, but i'll probably do the same thing with the 3D when i get to it (way down on the list right now). Shar has a good point too about grouping, i love having both on the arms and being able to blast away with both LB's from above.

I've had the greatest success with:

2 x UAC5
2 x LLaser
XL300

I'm with Shar above on the twin LB 10's and LLs performing better on the Ilya than the 3D. I'm a fan of the LB10X and used essentially the same build on both, but the AC hardpoints being split between the arm and torso made it a bit harder to aim.

It's nice having both ACs in the arms to let those pesky lights have it with both barrels.

Off-topic, but semi-related....I've had the most success using the twin LB10s and 4 ml build on the Firebrand. Having the ballistics up so much higher is a huge benefit in getting rounds down range instead of plowing fields!

2x LB and 2 ERLas currently what I found works best for me. Little underwhelming to begin with but once mechs start getting damaged its brutal. Have the Lasers in torso for sniping and guns in arms for most flexiblity and light mech swatting. Its a great go the distance mech as it gets meaner as game goes on.

Tried quite a few different builds 3 AC5 was quite nasty but never got used to weapons being at such different lines always waste a round or 2 into terrain.

Just put together my own spin on the triple AC build. I go with:

400 Armor
2 AC5s (arms) (3 tons ammo)
1 UAC5 (torso) (3 tons ammo)
1 Large Laser (LT)
2 Medium Lasers (RT and RA)

Extra 2 DHS (1 in engine, 1 in LT)
280 XL engine
Endosteel Structure

Smurfy: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...a71ed08777d5462

Result is a DPS monster that isn't TOO hurt by jams, but still packs a nice punch with the addition of a large laser. The large is nice for taking some potshots over a hill, too. Runs a little hot if you go nuts with the lasers, but you can cool down just fine while still keeping up some nice damage with the autocannons.

XL280/ 3 uac5/ ppc and mls for backup. Changed it slightly now... changed over one of the uac5 to an ac5 and added a little more ammo. Have gone back and forth with the mls on it, think it is off right now in favor of another ton of ammo.

The 3xUAC5/AC5 is too similar to (and in my opinion, inferior as well) the "c-bill" 4xAC5 Cat 4X.

I'm liking 2xGauss, 1xERPPC but I'm considering 3xAC10/3xLBX for a change.

I'm using 3x LB10X and watching a lot of components explode later in the match.

They're actually very different, for two main reasons.

1) IM 3x UAC 5 plays very differently vs. 4X 4x AC 5.
2) IM can go beyond 255 Engine size. Once you get to 280-300 engine with speed tweak, the IM really starts to shine IMO.
