Actually I did. Maybe if you went back and actually read what I said and thought with even Basic level strategic thinking you'd see why your great plan of un supported LRMs is a stupid idea in the first place. Here, I'll illuminate you.
A raven who's smart even with ECM isn't going to just waltz up. He's going to out flank (and definitely a cicada or commando will as well), because he's not going to want to be shot to pieces by you know. Guass, (assuming the gauss user has any Skill in leading targets) Lasers, or have an enemy light or fast heavy (dragon for example) wheel off, leg him and then put him down anyway.
You should have already been protecting your LRM carriers at least in some capacity in the first place.
ECM doesn't negate, lasers, ballistics, nor unguided rockets.
Seriously, if you're worried about some raven just waltzing up to your LRM boats, without a care in the world to nail you, your team has alot of other more immediate issues than ECM.

Best bet is counter ecm with your scout and kill theirs wholesale then let them move blind. Or get more direct fire weapons and back up against a wall and kill the raven. Bottom line you have to get rid of the ecm. If he is alloud to run around your team is not working. Trust me its worth the minute to dedicate a jenner with medium lasers to killing that raven and get back to buisiness.

If you are unable to play something else then LRM, until the ECM boom dies down, you should consider taking a break for a few days. Maybe you will think of some counter strategies in the time.
ECM has been anounced as a game changer, and it has been clearly stated how it would work, a week before it was implemented.

Now the game states, going in, it will be beneficial to your "TEAM" to provide both close range support and long range (TAG based) locking assistance to allow your Long range "TEAM" mate to perform to the best of their abilities. And apparently, the others just still run off and leave the poor buggers, apparently, helpless.
What has changed again?

This thread is making me crazy.
LRM boats now have a really effective counter. Think about how many people used to be pissed off that there was no way they could engage an LRM boat because they would just die every time before getting within 180m. I have two missile cats, I know what it's like to play one, it was hands-down the easiest way to get damage. I get better scores with less effort on my LRM boat than I did when I tried out the streak cat.
Is ECM overboard? Probably. What's the solution? Contribute to a good feedback thread and then wait for a balancing pass in a week or two. Maybe buy another type of mech in the meantime. Ask your teammates to watch your back, and stay with the group as much as possible (this also gives your targets way less time to get out of the way of your missiles). I've played plenty of matches where a light will try to sneak around and pick off our LRM carriers, but they just get demolished instantly instead because the team is paying attention.
This is a new game with new content...strategies are evolving and new gear has to be deployed on the public servers for a while before it can be really effectively balanced. If you want to be free of these sudden balance swings, take a break and come back in 6 months when way more gear has been added and has been tweaked in order to balance things out.

True, nobody is going to move right up and disrupt at point blank, but the great thing about ECM is that LOS doesn't mean anything. If the Raven can close to 150 meters and be hidden behind a building or small hill, the LRM boat is shut down. The drop commander is forced to counter it, try moving the LRM boat, or send people to hunt down the source and kill it. Any way you slice it an ECM scout is now one powerful piece of equipment.
I'm not saying that's bad, I like the cloak and dagger stuff, but it does make the game more complex. I can see why people used to playing Streakcats or LRM boats would be upset at their toys being taken away.

Last night I was in a battle that lasted almost the full time because people thought before moving. It was refreshing and stressfull.

Definately true of the 8-mans for sure. ECM has actually slowed the pace of the fighting a bit.

The omniscient sensors from all the other MW games were horrible, and I honestly think that the current LoS sensors are the single best design choice PGI has made in this whole game, bar none.

I thing the company shot itself in the foot. The one single advantage to the current broken system were long range shooters. I mean, with the FPS and Lag issues hard for a lot of people to learn anything and the missle boats did make it kinda fun for those folks, now that is gone. So the people having issues due to bad netcode and lag just lost any incentive to really play.
I for one have noticeds in the public matches teams of ecm vs teams of trials, now tell me how is this fair. At least put ecm on trial mech and for god sake fix the heat issues on trials.
So you want new people and money pgi, you better learn to be noob friendly or this boat will sink fast.
