The Orignal rules for the FASA board game Mechlab lets you put weapons, endo, FF Equipment were ever you want. So someone like me who likes the total freedom to customize my mech is a little disapointed. We don't hate the hardpoints but at the sametime I not going to buy a Hunchback because you can only put lasers on the arms and can only use one torso to mount a autocannon.
It leads to selective targeting because you know the right arm has AC/10, or LT has a AC 20. So you aim for those points you can gimp a mech.

This is a perfect example of how a real the mech lab should be set up.
Its not like I'm going to not play the game over this minor issue.
But I'm not going to spend 4,000,000 C-bills for some mech that has C----p hardpoints. I going to pick a mech that gives me what I want for a mech.
Its also a money sink it looks like were starting with 50,000,000 CCbills so lets say I want the Hunchback with a AC/20. I shell out 4,000,000 c-bills but I also like the LRM Hunchback I can't just swap out the weapons since there is no missle hardpoints looks like I have to spend 4,000,000 ccbill. for the LRM Hunch. looks like you have 6 slots for mechs now you have 4 because you have two versions of the Hunch in your mechbay.
But dont worry for 20,000,000 c-bills you can get 2 more mechbay slots You see were this is going these hardpoints create a large blackhole that your money is going to sink into. Thats how these free to play games work. Rather than shelling out a monthly fee you keep swipping the charge card until you have had enough, or don't have any money Sure your going ccbills in missions you might spend 40,000,000 c-bills run 6 games and get 10,000,000 back. Why so you have to spend US money to get CC-bills.
In the end its all econmics and how much US dollars we can suck out of you.
Thanks
