Someone awesome (who is probably an active member of these here forums) made a kick-*** MechWarrior video showcasing it's evolution, just thought some of you might like to see it.

If the author pops in: nice work and thanks!

*EDIT* Well I can't figure out how to embed it here, so for now just use the external mirror, or athlons link below lol

The amateur modding project is still looking the better game IMO.

Nostalgia - I has it.

Also I still get a kick how side by side comparisons between MW3 and MW4 makes MW4 look like a step backwards...

Not even close. Mechs move like stiff turkeys.

Haha it was quite jarring going from Mechwarrior 1 to Mechwarrior 2, at least as far as the sound is concerned. MW2 really outdid themselves on the music score and all.

Two things:

Firstly, MWO has conditioned me to get very excited when I hear that music.

Second, Mechwarrior 3 was pretty darn amazing. We all look at MW2 with our nostalgia goggles firmly planted on our face, but MW3 really felt like it was in the middle of the dirty, warring mess that is battletech. Graphics look better than MW4 too :)

MW2 was amazing for it's time. I will say that the souring point was that actual game play was lacking. The visuals and immersion were ahead of their time.

MW3 tried to carry it forward and was mostly succesful.

MW4 turned mechs into... er... weird textureless things. It's like they took the models from MW2 and upped the polygon count but forgot to add detailed textures.

Can see how awesome MWO can be.

Need better balance and more content = great game.

Must every thread on this forum become a complaint?

I used to think MW1 and 2 were realistic and immersive.

Clearly my imagination has suffered with the passing of years.

Mechwarrior 3 was near perfection. Best of the series so far. Great campaign, great mechs, great gameplay.

Watching this video really drives home how beautiful Mechwarrior Online can be... but they really need to tone down the armor glow effect. It's still too distracting.

Rose tinted glasses tend to do that. Taken in the context of its time though MW2 is still an amazing feat.

MW1 though... I thin MW1 is best left as a first step... it wasn't a good game.
