That's what they were doing before.

I can say with certainty that I have never been in a PUG match like that before.

Honestly, I'd have to add my hat on the side of MW:O being dull since ECM came in. I'll wait and see how it pans out when people have gotten their head around it, but for now I can't be bothered to play a game where mostly I'm being sniped by 'mechs the game engine doesn't even draw for me. It doesn't matter if it can be played around, it has to be fun to learn how to do it. For a lot of folks, including myself, it simply isn't. Not being able to use the already barely-functional onboard computer to help pick out the tiny grey blob against the blurry backdrop has utterly ruined any feeling of actually playing Mechwarrior at all. I strongly disliked it before, given the crazy impulse of AC/2's, but now that I cant target the snipers at all, I just don't care.

Sure, you could say I should counter snipe, but I don't find that a fun way to play: it's just not entertaining for me.I want to shoot things that actually look like battlemechs, and fight in a way where piloting actually matters. the PUGs I've been in since yesterday have destroyed any enthusiasm for the game beyond playing with my team. That's great and all, but the game is worthless if I can't enjoy it solo too.

One thing that would REALLY help the situation, is access to in-game macros. I don't want to have to type out a line of text while my scout is completely out of control (or stationary). I want to just hit an F-key that says (I have a lock on %target: fire the LRMs!). Then my scouting would be meaningful again. Right now, my Jenner is mothballed and I can't be bothered to pug enough to buy a Raven and try that.

I'm sure it'll work itself out; I'm not meaning to have some massive rant against ECMs. Yes, I think they're pretty ******** right now, but it'll get balanced. I just won't be playing much until it is, so I can empathise with others who feel likewise.

Which is a sign that ECM is a must have and that's very bad for the game at all...

Engines are a must have! Very bad for the game!!!!
It's a team sport. Like (American) football in order to be competitive you have to plan your deployment and ensure everyone on the field compliments each other. Someone should have LRMs. Someone should have an ECM. Someone should have guass. Someone should be in a light mech scouting. Someone should have a brawling atlas. etc...

this community makes me sick and very embarrassed to call myself a battletech player and fan. You guys are despicable and anyone who thinks ECM has been a good, BALANCED addition to the game is fooling themselves. Good addition, sure. Balanced? no.

Asuming you're replying to me:

No effect. Zooming doesn't change what the game draws, thermographic or otherwise. I can see where the bullets/lasers/LRMs come from, but there's nothing there. I'm not blind. At least with BAP+Sensor Boost I could lock on and fire at the centre of the target box to distract them. It was an irritating part of the game, but manageable. Now, it's not.

I don't know what to tell you but I can see across the map and more importantly see the mechs that are across the map.

I PUG and love the new ECM implimentation , dont bother me at all I love using gauss still to despite that fact it explodes but you know what I play smarter now and get 2 kills a game still as long as we dont get steam rolled. There are some very nice strategies that I have seen most of the time to wipe out my team but I applaud the tactics, its fun now and interesting, an atlas can pop up out of the blue or a whole team for that matter... always on your toes now

I like the extra stadegy involved with ECM, it does motivate the pugs to cooridinate more. and i feel you, i used to play much more Lone Wolf, and the ECM makes that hard now. But the extra dynamic brings some very unused mechs back onto the battlefield, makes the jenner less OP.

However, the battlefield feels like it might start to get stale soon unless a tad more balance isnt achieved. This could be fixed once the command module and better team communication is implemented. Until then, I recommend finding a group that uses C3, mumble or TS and try some matches that way, it kinda previews the kinda coordination that ECM requires, and can be alot of fun. with that said i think ECM is invaluable to a good team environment.
My opinion is just that: My opinion, so thats my two cents.

isn't the point of a sniper to kill you before you see them... just sayin not sure if they have a special zoom or maybe spotter, I will agree though that the game engine should draw better at farther distances it is annoying and hard to see.

I think the biggest reason why people complain is they don't like CHANGE or when something screws up their build, solution just roll with it have fun with different configs.

Stop playing on calculator, get a PC.
ECM isn't make mechs invisible, it just not allowed you to target them. If you have problems with slight - it's your PC/Prefs problem, but not a ECM.

They changed it so ravens, commandos, and cicadas actualy have a use. So if you think the game is more challenging now, perhaps it is because there is more veriety to the game? if you run a hunchback there should be no change unless you lrm or streak, besides everyone using tactics now insted of running into the middle to get blown up.

Everyone running to the center to get blown up is exactly what happens now.

and Cicadas were fairly deadly before, fast lil ***** with a ton of lasers they are. And completely removing the use of two whole weapon systems doesn't add cariety, it removes it.
