The usefulness of the coolant flush is pretty pitiful. A one time reduction of Mech heat by 35, whopdeedoo. I'm not a moron, so I can manage my heat just fine.

That example was with 10 heatsinks. Most mechs have many more. But buying something with real money that takes up one slot vs 2 for poor people? This really is disappointing and makes me worried about air strikes and artillery. Not cool pgi. Should have at least been permanent modules that cost more but are usable again next match. Say hello PPC Stalkers every match.

This game is now pay to win.

I await your rebuttal.

It is indeed, no rebuttals.

Yes, coolant flush as a consumable is coming. No, there isn't too much reason for freaking out over that since its true to the BT lore as a consumable and since PGI will undoubtedly make it expensive. Just chill everyone! (yes pun)

If its true to BT lore then it takes up tonnage and crit space and explodes if hit. They are implementing this as modules. Doesn't sound very lore like.

SRM boats are the real issue, their only limitation was really just how many times they could alpha back to back. So now, they get to alpha more. 6 PPC boats are still way up there on the list of 'oh god why' though.

Please explain to me why so many are ******* their pants over a module anyone can purchase that will at most reduce your heat by 35% once per match. 35% isn't even 1/2 the heat on one of my Alphas. This may turn a single engagement under the right circumstances, but it'll hardly unbalance the usual flow of battle.

I'm more curious to see what the artillery strikes are going to do...

Uh, in most cases being able to reduce your heat percentage by a total of 60% guarantees an additional three Alpha Strikes.

I don't know if my math is off, or if it's PGI's math that is off, but subtracting 15% followed by 20% is NOT the same as subtracting 35%:
100 - 15% = 85
85 - 20% = 68

100 - 35% = 65

68 != 65

This is serious crap.

wow.

I'm shocked.

I was about to tell you how the game isn't pay to win, like I do in all the pay to win posts.......

Then I clicked the link and realized your right......

:/ This game is starting to move in a direction I'm not liking.....not one bit....

Don't worry, I'm sure PGI has learned absolutely nothing from all the MW4 QQ'ing. This will be implemented in exactly the same way.

They've definitely learned how to monetize it.

The fact that they actually made the mc only version clearly better makes it pretty indefensible.

Maybe it is like some early April fools joke.

R&R removed, netcode tightened, neat mech animations, matchmaker (broken, but may be improved), reasonably priced camo, promise of state rewind soon. I was hopeful for a while. Progress was slow, but game looking good. At least those parts that worked.

Then we get an announcement of CoD bombardment and the accursed coolant flush return, and helpfully explained it'll be pretty much p2w on the very same day.

T-thanks. It's not like I wanted a nice, fun BT game anyway. I can only hope the inevitable, fully earned backlash here and on every social media imaginable will make you turn back from this madness, PGI.

CB versions require 2 module slots for 35%. MC version requires 1 slot for 35%. It's P2W.

Not to mention mechs like the stalker can't use two coolant modules without mastering, further coercing players to get premium for the already ridiculous 3 variant unlock system.

It's not about the function of this thing, it's about the availability. Whats next? AC/20 Uberammo that deals 100Splash-Damage in a radius of 4hex-fields?!

I agree. Open the door to Pay to Win and PGI will add more items that people must pay for to give them an advantage. Uber Ammo. Triple Energy Weapon Damage. Double Speed boost. Eventually it will devolve into something that is not even close to Mech Warrior and people will leave. They need to keep this a skill based game with MC primarily being used on cosmetic items.

It all depends on price.

If The Cbill based Coolant flush is 10,000 Cbills: The price is so low everyone has one! OH NOES! its pay to compete!

If the Cbill based coolant flush is 100,000 Cbills: The price is too high! I have to use MC! OH NOES! Its pay to win!

If you really need coolant flush; and can't keep your finger off the trigger: Think of it as the reintroduction of Repair and Rearm.

I love how much time they spent trying to keep the Hero Mechs from being P2W (they really do spend a lot of time doing this), and then suddenly do this.

It is mind boggling.

because, the hero mechs are a one shot purchase. Once you have it, you don't have to spend more MC. Consumables on the other hand, will require you to buy more and more. THAT'S why they took care to make the hero mechs balanced
