WOW! Talk about crying wolf. ECM is fine, just cause it takes away your super easy mode doesn't make it OP.
You want OP, a few mechs sitting back 800 meters making heavy mechs disintegrate in less then 30 seconds.
Before they can do anything about ECM they will have to fix LRM boats and streakcats. Then they can work on making ECM more TT like.
I have been saying much the same for a while now.
I feel ECM gives way to much for what is needed to use it.1.5 tons and 2 criticals and occationaly engage a pair of braincells to determine if disrupt or counter mode is needed at that time.
Compare that to NARC that requires 3 criticals 4 tons and needs to be aimed at a target that must also be hit and after all that NARC is still garbage because it does not transmit long enough to be all that helpful.
ECM does need to be toned down mainly on account of bringing an already steep learning curve for new users up to a 90 degree cliff.I know how ECM works and how to fight on an ECM heavy battlefield but I have also been in MWo since June 2012.
But before we go and even think of tweaking ECM we must address LRMs and particularly streaks.
Way back when it was determined that standard table top armor values made the time to kill way to short. As a result armor values were doubled. With this change a weapon like a gauss rifle that in the table top game striped a ton's worth of armor off with each hit now only hit half as hard.So now we have longer fights because most weapons dish out half the damage they do in a table top game.Except for SRMs/Streaks and LRMs. SRMs/Streaks deal 125% of table top damage values or...25% more effective damage output over non adjusted weapons.LRMs are even more potent with 70% damage output over non adjusted weapons.
In the case of streaks the online game performance is so far out of line with the table top performance that the streaks had become out of control before ECM.
So before ECM is altered LRMs and Streaks must also be altered.
