It would be okay if it's a one time use in a match. However if it has the ability to be spammed constantly then I disagree. That would be far too overkill.
It's also a matter of a payment system. For now a Yay or Nay vote is too soon.

And as far as competition goes... ever hear of modes that don't allow such things? Maybe a "Pure" Mode with no strikes of any kind?
Orzom had a good point. "Consumable" could mean once per match, not necessarily that you must repurchase every time.

And then the inevitable WTF?
It can't be as strong as we are glooming and dooming about. They run everything with internal testers before it hits the beta and this would be the first thing any proper test monkey would try..

50-150k is still pay to win territory..

Of course, assuming you'd even run out of MWO's consumable. We have no info on that yet, only our assumptions based on the name (Which may actually be consumed in-game, but returned afterward. We've no idea yet).
Youre right, I skipped over that you have to buy it every time, Im not happy with that either, and many others, as wolvesX-s poll thread shows.
However, in that post I was addressing it game-balance wise, and it seems to be fine in that aspect(other than some number issues like stalkers 2 modules vs atlases 4).

Heck, it's not like they are putting in 3rd person view or anything...

Agreed.
However, PGI doesn't have much of a track record with elegant implementation. So color me unimpressed thus far.

- The 3 second Jenner.
- Heat is fine.
- True DHS would mean endless alphas without heat management
- ...
I got nothing. It does not seem to be an issue - neither to PGI nor to a huge part of the community apparently.

Edit: This post got caught up in the Coolant Flush Thread Merger of Doom. It was originally a response to the question: "Why do we get coolant flush, but we can't test true Double Heat Sinks?"

1 Crit, 1 ton and kinda asplody... I got better use for my Tons and Crits thanks.

Well, I might be wrong, but I don't think they'll make it do that. I want BT Tech in the game, like Coolant Pods, for Mech Lab customization.
So, imo, no there wouldn't be anything wrong if a Coolant Pod was added as a customization option, like adding an extra sink, or extra ammo, along those lines. A piece of equipment you put on your Mech, while weighing in advantages/disadvantages of whatever it is and building it into a design. There would be something wrong with it if is was over modeled like ECM or SSRMs, or just adding a Coolant Flush that literally takes up no space on a Mech or doesn't explode when not used for 500,000 CB a pop, etc.

Yes, exactly. There have been quite a few prompt hotfixes that dealt with REAL game-breaking problems... and we haven't had those on a large scale for a while now. Obviously you and I have very different opinions on that. I'm guessing you have a problem with ECM and SplatCats. I don't... and I barely run ECM in half my drops. My almost-SplatCat doesn't leave the hangar often either. Maybe 5% of my drops.
