cash grab after cash grab... clearly PGI's currently jacked up MC prices are failing to bring in the money they need. so instead of revising the steep prices, they are just going to throw in more stuff to entice people to buy it to win the game....

coolant was a dumb idea all along, but now that theres going to be 2 versions of it with the MC being superior... its just plain ********

i'm really hoping this is some joke or mistake, i was just starting to feel easy about this game having a strong future... then this.... took that feeling away

Well you are unlikely to be fond of my 6medpulse Jenner with coolant flush.

How about a Hunchback with three Large laser with complementry medium lasers trio to go?

So many assumptions in this thread it's just silly. People assuming you can use it more than once per match. People assuming that you have to re-buy it after every match. People assuming the price will be gagillions of CB and 100MC. How about we wait and see how it's implemented first. Exactly.

Just read the command chair post. It is in fact a "one time use" thing. So, while I was defending these consumables in my post above, I have to agree now this seems very P2W.

Coolant I'm not so worried about. Airstrikes and artillery strikes, yet.

1X coolant flush, sure. I do not however enjoy their T1+T2=T3 concept.

Make the GOLD one auto refill after matches for a month or something, then it is just a CB bonus. Make the recharge for the CB varient cheap, like say 20K. Seriously, pay for convenience, not imbalance.

This one?

If so then yes I did. For all we know, the devs changed their minds once they thought they figured out a way they could implement it without breaking balance too badly.

Again: I'm going to wait and see rather than adopt the Chicken Little approach right here and now. If the implementation sucks then YES, I'm going to complain.

I'm with the wait and see crowd. If they're not too expensive for C-Bills and they don't shift the balance so far that it becomes required equipment then I'm ok with it. My concern with this is just like the 3rd person view thing. These are componants that they stated would not be in the game.

Just one more piece that makes me cringe and wish they hadn't used F2P for something I care so much about. Because the way they reverse earlier decisions just makes me feel like I was taken advantage of when I purchased a founders pack.

They aren't actually identical though.
The mc version only requires one module slot to achieve maximum benefit, while the cbill version takes two.

Lol, my thread regarding a potential period of time in which MWO could die out has been completely invalidated by this.

Well played.

You either pay with it with CB (grind-time) or MC ($$$). What's the big deal? Some people value their time over their money. And some people have more time than money. Sounds very fair to me.

while you are grinding the Cbills. you cant use the modules because you can't afford it.

people who have the MC wwill have th emodules every game. they will have a bigger advantage every single game. if they fork out the cash

Then we get an announcement of CoD bombardment and the accursed coolant flush return, and helpfully explained it'll be pretty much p2w on the very same day.

whoa... whoa... whoa... slow your roll. 35% max cooling for one use per match. that's enough to keep from shutting down once but not enough for another alpha in an energy boat. what's the problem with that?

although i was never a fan of hero mechs being mc only because they provided a gameplay option not available to free players, the community largely tolerated it because the hero mechs have been largely underwhelming

the flame is a decent dragon, which is the red headed stepchild of the heavies
the ilya is a decent cataphract, probably the best hero mech
the PB is a decent awesome, but awesomes are pretty mediocre
the other hero mechs aren't even the best variants of their chassis

and, true to pgi's claims, hero mechs were not a competitive advantage

mc coolant flush being outright better than cbill coolant flush is. unequivocally. eisenhorne mentioned in another thread that if the mc one took up 2 module slots that would be reasonable, and i agree, since it would be the same as the cbill one only the cbill one would let you use them piecemeal, but otherwise require the same sacrifice for the same cumulative benefit. the figures in the command chair post clearly illustrate otherwise

now, even though it's pretty underwhelming as a whole as far as cooling amount, and even though we don't know how much mc it'll cost vs how much the cbill versions cost, it doesn't matter. the mc one is clearly better.

time to let chicken little do his thing

I will not be purchasing any more MC as long as this model is in play.

Sadly, that. I'm not going anywhere yet. If they can convince me that the game isn't headed down that particular dark path, I may buy more MC. But for now, the 700 I've got in the bank just became very precious, because I'm not getting any more anytime soon.

I voted nay, based on what I just saw in the command chair post. One-time use is P2W (like gold ammo).
