OK. I'm going to talk about something that's not in the game yet, but I really hope will be. The Mauler is an assault mech that can mount dual AC/20s, not to mention various missile and energy weapons. Would this mech be overpowered? Would it always be a priority target? What do you think?

Nobody will use the 20s , and they'll be replaced with gauss. e.g. Balance

Assaults are generally always a good target especially for us light mechs they are slow and unmanueverable. As for their ability to dual AC/20s Pshhh Catapult K2s can do that at least it will only be in their torso so they will be limited to how high low they can fire and not being able to aim left or right with arms

The Mauler would just be an amazing 'mech.

The first that could mount Dual Gauss + ERPPC with enough weight for HS and ammo. One of my personal favorites. OP? Nah, just a great 'mech.

I disagree. If you mix in some long range weapons with them, it would be a very effective build. AC/20s are damage kings at close range.

Mauler from what I recall is a ******* huge and really easy to hit target without the armour of the Atlas. So it's hardly that special. A bit like an Awesome perhaps, except better armed since lolgauss. It also had missile bays for LRM-15s.

It's funny that the mauler is supposed to be a support mech. In mw4 the mauler was one of my favs, and I used dual lbx in it.

The heat system would like a word with you. Gauss has just a bit less damege, no Min. range and a massive reach.. oh and you can fire them as long as you have ammo. Why would I ever take a one trick poney over a jack of all trades, that is arguebly better then most of the other weapons in the game at their intened roles?

Too bad Mauler's ballistic hardpoints are in the torsos. I started drooling before I checked sarna.

Well. all other things being equal, my AC/20s would win at close range. And I wouldn't be a one trick pony. While you're trying to hit me with your gauss, my friends will be rocking you with lrms and streaks. With proper teamwork, dual 20s will rock.

Mauler would be a good option vs the Awesome. It's a ballistic oriented assault vs the Awesomes energy orientation. Both have a variety of missile hard points.

That's good you know, the torsos are much better protected than the arms.

by the time they implement the maulr im sure they will have a city map in wich case the AC 20's will be more effective then the gauss. The mauler will excel at these types of maps.

Meanwhile, he has no friends because... everyone hates people who use gauss, or something

ac20 will never be more effective then GR, if it still generates as much heat as it does right now.

heat wont be an issue with DHS once working correctly ..

If I turn a street corner in a city and come face to face with a mech with a gauss rifle im gonna blow the face off the thing with my dual AC20's before he had time to blink.
