it

Edit: So we're not playing one-word-at-a-time? Well in that case:

Get 4 AC2's, walk slower than an Atlas, overheat in two volleys, ???, profit.

Seeing that made me die on the inside.

OP - you need to say more than discuss to get a discussion.

I ALMOST picked the Cicada over the Raven, for an ECM chassis... almost.

I love my bugs. Even the 3C (Arbeh Plauge) with 3x MG, 1x AC2, 1x ML; sure I have been laughed at on the field, but when I get team support and can drag enemies all over the place, scattering them, the laughing stops. Sometimes. I have even been laughed at by a teammate (who was already dead, naturally) for having so many MG, even while I was tearing apart a Phracts open, unarmored bits--I went 3kills, 3assists that drop.

My 1x ER PPC, 1x ER LL, 1x ML 2B (2Bor!2B) is quite fun.
My 4x ML, 1x AC2 3M (CrashTestDmy) is also quite fun.

Do people hate this mech because it is so fun?

Cicada is the only respectable chassis for ECM because it's the only one that doesn't mount SSRMs.

As a biased Cicada master, it's the best mech in the game.

Uberfast + ECM = Fun Times.

i like the 3M for ECM and i like dual AC/2 on the 3C
I feel that the 2A and 2B are too similar to each other.

I had some fun with the Cicada in CB and was torn about not picking it.
I really ended up chosing the Raven since it is a dedicated EW chassis.
I really like the dedicated support role.

I am pretty sure I will get the Cicada at some point. Too much fun to be had there.

its the only mech i own... lol.. Im just amassing a small ammount of cbills because i like to play trials for S and G.
Anyways, IDK which one I own, but i have 1 ac10, and 60 rounds.
Thats enough for good times.
Tried it at first with the lbx10, but thats really just a waste of time, if i want to get in the thick of it, rather put 10 pts of damage on one spot.
THe spread of the lbx just doesnt seem to cut it though you would think it does.
Oh , never overheats,,, its impossible., The ten HS in the engine are excessive since i have a heat ratio of like 2.33 or something like that.

I love my Cicada. Favorite mech in game. Its like a engine with legs.

We need to get a Cicada Siren that makes the sound the insect does. In the mean time I cycle fire the machine guns.

My Cicada is the light calvary. Flank enemy already engaged in fight, Kill those in retreat (or least perpetuate the retreat), flash enemy base to force them to be on offense.

I run with 4 mgs and flamer which makes fighting alot more challenging and interesting, I look for the mech with a armor shell missing. Flamer to get attention.....its like the best aoe taunt in game. People see a mech getting flamed they get the urge to intervene. with luck you can make a nasty furball of mechs trying just to kill you.

Wish I had a smoke bomb then could really make a mess.

This would make a mess of the entirety of MWO, I believe. Graphically, at least, more smoke can't be beneficial.

I just bought my first Cicada. I started as a Jenner pilot, then when ECM came online I bought a Raven. I loaded two streak launchers in it and some lasers. Loved it. So, I bought a Cicada for ECM and BAP. I am currently running it with the biggest XL engine possible and 4 med lasers. Not a bad design. I do miss the streaks though.

Since I use ECM and escort the bigger 'Mechs, I downgraded to a 245 Engine, which I ripped out of my Raven and run an ER PPC and 3 Medium Lasers. Double Heat sinks fill out the rest of the free tonnage. I have enough speed to get behind the heavier 'Mechs once my escorts engage and start chewing up their back armor. I went ER PPC for the times I don't need to escort so I can snipe. PPC has a minimum range and I just wanted to practice using the ER PPC.

First Cicada here with the -3C variant. I can't figure out how to build it and be effective. I'm running an AC2 and AC5 right now, but I'm not doing much damage...

PS - Do machine guns actually do ANY damage?

Attacking a fully armored mech with 4 machine guns, your looking at about 3 minutes of shooting to kill it.

As silly as it is, the 3c with 4 machine guns is my favorite mech of all. When you look at a mech, lets say a fresh new one, you notice his parts are green and the outline to his parts are green. As its attacked the outline goes from green to yellow to red then destroyed, the the inside green starts to go to yellow to red then destroyed.

You got to look for parts of a mech who's outline is gone, that part is unarmored. Machine guns hurt those parts more, least it ought to cuz machine guns are sopose to be the best vs unarmored.

When you shoot machine guns at someone remember their armor flashes for taking damage even when its hardly no damage at all. You can use this to your advantage on mechs who retreat in combat. Like if a hunch back is fighting a atlas, he takes a hit decide he better not stick around so he turns tail. You run after him with machine guns all he knows is he is taking damage his mind is on retreat and your machine guns can add to a panic. And if he gives up the idea of retreat then you've done more damage to him then anyone else.

See even if machine guns do no damage at all they can become like an area effect attack you can sweep multiple enemys and add a new worry to all of them, all they know is they are taking hits and have something more to worry about. If you get thier whole back flashing that could be enough to convince them they are getting alpha striked.

If you got thier attention on you rather then your allies i'd say you've done a perfect job. If they don't care for you thats when you look to hit thier unarmored. In the case of my mech I take a flamer with the mgs start to flamer the mechs too.

Flamer on a mech draws the attention of buddies to want to rescue thier buddy. Its like an AOE taunt.

This mech is light cavalry. Should be flanking already engaged enemies, chasing down retreats, tripping up the artillery(they'll prob show up in future).

Good stuff! ;)

I actually bought the 2A and love it alot more. 2 ER Large Lasers, 4 smalls and loads of double heatsinks. I rarely over heat. Just had a 4 kill & 4 assist round! did 848 total damage. I am new so I don't know if that is good or bad, but my average damage I deal is around 150 a round before I built this one. I downsized the engine to a 245 (I think it had a 320 when bought) to make room for weapons and it's still plenty fast at 99 Kph.

ER Larges for the range hitting, Smalls for the commandos and such that pesker, and if I unload the smalls I never overheat, so that's my fall back when stuff gets heavy. best of all, average repair bill is only about 20k after a defeat! Thisll be my moneymaker
