I have had a couple dual AC20 kills on Atlases since Jagermechs came out. I also got killed very recently by dual AC20s to my eye while in an Atlas.

Atlases fall a bit too quickly as it is, I think. Making them even more vunerable would make them very underwhealming to pilot.

The Atlas used to have a hitbox the size of the whole head, it blew chunks hardcore. It is fine how it is now, it dies pretty easy already. The problem is fighting 5-6 of them on the other team when your whole team is light.

Go to the testing area. You can head shoot them pretty reliably when they are standing upright. It may be because they are hunched slightly down when shut down.
I died last night to a jager mech with dual AC20s to the head.

All mech heads should be that hard to get. The right eye head shot is best accomplished when you have significant close range highground on it. You will rarely get a head box hit having to aim up. This difficulty should be universal to all mechs.

I've head-shot a few Atlases, mostly from PB-range, since it really is a tiny target. Only gotten one that I know of at long range, entirely by accident.
I wish there was some way to know for sure when you get a head-shot kill. Yeah, sometimes if you're close you can see the smoking cockpit, but with no visual indicators and the paper-doll disappearing before showing the damage, it can be tough to tell for sure at any range. Sure would love a big "BOOM! HEADHSOT!" to flash across the screen.

Or shrink all mech head hitboxes down to an unhittable dot that is around the same size as a human person.
Not joking. I want my walking tank to be a tank. A gorgeous picture window on a tank is stupid.
Or give me curtains (MC!) for my picture window. I can pull them shut when bad things are about to happen.
If you kill me this way, I always WHINE SUPER LOUD. You'll know

I have crappy aim in general, and have only scored 1 confirmed cockpit-shot in about 700 games. I felt so bad for the guy, that I had to apologize, in chat, for having done it. Lucky-Insta-Kill deaths SHOULD be rare. Sorry to any Headshot snipers from CoD style games that think that it makes your EPeen bigger. Insta kill shots should be rare, and a surprise, to both the guy who got killed, and the guy that did the killing. My opinion is that all mechs should have the exact same size cockpit as the atlas.

Look mate, you don't build a 100 ton mech, make it the scariest thing in the inner sphere and give it the head of the elephant man. You just don't, you make it as small as possible, and take it on the chest like a man.

Yep, that's how my suspected Atlas headshot happened - I was on the side of a slope with him below me, and he rotated towards the right, lining up his left eye (from his viewpoint) directly with the AC20 round as it hit. Still don't know if that was a headshot or just enough damage to kill him, but it looked cool either way.
I've only gotten one confirmed headshot in a few months of play - plastered a Centurion's head with lasers and a Gauss Rifle, and he suddenly dropped... then the message came in over chat with him laughing from death by headshot. That was just dumb luck on my part.
I've also only died once for sure to a headshot. Don't EVER shut down in a Catapult with an AC 20 Hunchback in front of you. It was downright painful to watch him carefully line up that shot while completely helpless - BOOM!
