I started somewhere in '89 when I was 9. Saw the Battletech game box in the local supermarket and was sold on the spot having watched Macross as a kid.

Also, the first game in the mechwarrior series on my godmother's 286. :o

Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries when it came out in 1996, because Shell Programmer John Peck was a family friend. And I was definitely to young for it at the time, but grew into it. When the guy curses in the training mission was shocking to 10 year old me, cause that wasn't normal in video games yet; and managing heat was a little beyond me.

Not sure if there is a thread out there on this already or not but here we go. Just out of curiosity how long have you been playing either mechwarrior, battletech or both? Be honest I'm just curious about the current mercenary dynamics.

I'll start. My brothers got me into the TT game when I was 9 and I bought Mechwarrior for PC when it first hit the shelves. Been playing ever since that makes it about 27 years.

Cheers,

Does Mechassault count? cuz i played that back when i was like idk 11 or so, its funny cuz i really liked mechassault but never heard of mechwarrior then later when i was like 14 or 15 i found this list on gamespot for the top ten futuristic combat sims and thats how i found mechwarrior vengence and started my mechwarrior stuff from there, and eventually found out that mechwarrior and mechassault are the same universe in battletech lol

Im 26 but I've always been a mechwarrior played my first TableTop at 6 years old and I'm still here So yes I understood what I was doing the first time I played. Though I did start with cresent hawk and the first mechwarrior, I was advanced for my age. And I remember running around pretending to blast things with my toy RADAR-X at like 3 years old, Althought I knew it as a RIfleman and didn't find out about robotech til I was 8 or 9. Still have the toy too.

Since MW2. Pretty much every game and most expansions... loved all of them. Still spend a little time in MW4:Mercs every once in a while.

I played MW2 and MPBT:Solaris7 as soon as they came out, so it should be around 15 years around.

I started off with MW2 and have been hooked ever since. Ive done the table top thing (LOVED IT) and Ive read damn near every BattleTech/Mechwarrior novel that was written minus a few of the Dark Age books.

Started playing MW 1 on my old 286 PC. Moved up to 3 and 4 when they came available although I can't say which one it was but the last one I played (not 3 or 4) really let me down. It was garbage - so I guess you could say I have been playing since the beginning but will wide gaps. I can't wait for the chance to play this one.

As long as I can remember. My first experience was watching my dad and his friends play. My real experiences was the Mechwarrior: Dark Ages game though. Other than that I've played Mechcommanders 1 and 2. I haven't really had any oppurtunities to play anything Battletech related.

Phew, I did not realize it had been that long 12-15 years for me.
My brother started me out playing the table top game, and I have been hooked from then on.
The universe is so rich and stable, with a community that really backs it up.

i've played since MW3, read a few of the books but never got "wiki-proof" involved..
I know basically the mechs from MW3, MW4 (vengance, black knight, and mercs), and MW:LL.. pretty much everything else is "unseen" to me.

A mate of mine introduced me to the glory of TT back when I started university in 2003. Have always wished more people played in Ireland.

Started playing BattleTech with First Edition in 1986 ... Even have some old BattleDroid miniatures. I have played every digital version until MW4 and then ... Well, we had kids.:)

My twin boys will be breaking out the geo-hex with me tonight as we go further into our TT mech adventures. End of the school year means the beginning of BattleTech season...
