Whatever year the name switched from BattleDroids to BattleTech. Thats the year I started. I went to look at my original box and in my move to my new house I seem to have misplaced it. That had better get fixed soon :-)

Same here...I bought the Orginal box set and played....I remeber when City tech came out and my Godzilla mek was born.

First stepped into the hotseat when I was around 12 with MW2, been in love ever since! Only been about half a year since I finished the books, though.

Wow now there is a question....

Im gonna vote 12 -15 but my mind is a bit hazy these days. I remember the original Mech Warrior Mercenaries game, i think i may even still have the CD somewhere, and trying to connect over a us robotics 56k modem to play with my clan. I think that was the first time i used a modem just to play this. Connecting up over the old DOS interface and everything, i also remember getting the normal game free with an old voodoo graphics card.

So so long ago, but the mechwarrior franchise has fostered my love of hulking bad *** mechs to this day, im so pumped for this game!!!

I've been playing Battletech since it originally came out. I bought the very first printing when it was originally called Battledroids and then they changed the name of the game to Battletech. I can still remember when the heaviest mech was the Battlemaster and everything was set during the time of the fourth succession war. That's going back, just a bit :D I was a little kid then, but I still enjoyed the game enough. The older I got though, the more I enjoyed the game.

My cousin taught me to play the boardgame when I was 9...first game got thrown out because I rolled too many 12s and cored his mech on the first turn of shooting ;)

I think I was 9-12ish when Battletech really got big with the PODS, TV series and action figures. I had a Mauler. Oh man, when the missiles hit the right spot, BAM, the cockpit would pop off and eject the pilot. It was great.

I'm not as old as some of the other battletechers out there... being just under 30 myself... I started when i was eight or nine and my parents got us our first home computer, and guess what, a mechwarrior 2 game came, with it and i was hooked. (3d ATI Rage edition) Around the same time i got exposed to the battletech cartoon (OMG still have all 13 episodes somewhere.) and have been playing all forms from TT (megamek) to Mechcommander. I even made out my own Mercenary based Campaign online playing MM and having a roleplaying feel to it. Currently running a Mechwarrior 3rd-Ed RPG group under the name "Arnwalt's Annihilators"

That puts me in the 14 year catagory, but since i was so young when i started... can i get bumped to the 20+ bracket?

I've been playing since 2000 when I got into MechWarrior 4: Vengeance to play NBT-4. Picking up the boxed game was my first real step into the Battletech gaming world. NBT being a planetary league was obviously another factor in exposing me to and peaking my interest in Battletech in general. I learned how to play TT later in about 2007/2008 and picked up a hardcopy of Total Warfare.

Since MechForce 3.71 on the Amiga. Awesome game. MWTactics looks like it might scratch that itch nicely.

Wow... seems I'm not the only guy who continues to play Mechwarrior well into their twilight years. This is great!

I've been playing MW since I was WAY younger! I don't remember the exact age when I started, BUT, I was still a huge MW fan when I wasn't 5 feet tall..

First, I played MW3. I always loved how the free floating reticule that let you target the enemies' arms and legs really easy! The intro movie was also my favorite of them all! I played MW4 and Mercs next, I think. After that, I played MechAssault 2. I even dived into the online component a bit with my brother! I then proceeded to play MechAssault Phantom War. Maybe a few years after, I lost interest in MW. Then I found MechCommander 2 on eBay. When it arrived, I friggin' ate it up! MECH BASED RTS FTW! In the present day, I found MWLL first, then the Mekpak 3.1 version of MW4 Mercs. Then, 2 days ago, I received the BattleTech 25th Anniversary Box Set.

It's good to see that i'm not the only one who believes in MW's second coming! MECHWARRIOR FOREVER!

Great idea for a vote I must say.

I played Earth Seige before any of them, found it in my local Library, had to withdraw it a couple of times. I found it totally amazing, so I begin looking for more Mech action.

I still have a joystick from years ago, calibration is a bit off due to how it has been sitting in a cupboard. I bet a new joystick rig is released, pedals, throttle. Oh I hope so.

I started with Crescent Hawks Inception. I've copied that installation to every computer I've owned. 5 of the 6 save game slots are corrupted now, but I still play it occasionally.

I like Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries the best. Critical slot placement! Excessive weapon boating! No Arm-based Weapons!

I started when a class friend borrowed me Decision at Thunder Rift in 1993. After that I couldn't stop reading the books that I could lay my hands on. First game was MW2 and the rest that followed including mechacommander series. Now I can't wait for MWO. My latest mecha based game was Front Mission Evolved which I had finished in 4 hours and just had to replay.
