Just wanted a headcount on this idea:

-BAP should allow targeting of ECM-covered units while the BAP mech is within the ECM bubble, but with longer lock-on times.

-NARC should allow units outside of the ECM bubble to target the ECM-covered unit that was hit by a NARC, and should either last quite a bit longer or get more ammo/ton.

-TAG should allow lock-on for a short period (5s) after it has painted a target, as well as have the longer range.


So, a streakcat would carry a BAP so he could still target ECM mechs, but it will take longer to get lock. An LRM-boat would want a TAG so he could paint a target a few times while he is locking on, and the longer duration should let the missiles at least get close before it wears off. NARC would be a scout weapon; sneak up to an ECM-covered group, NARC the one you want, then your whole team can see that mech and that mech only, helping concentrate fire.

No whingers, please; I don't want to hear about how hard it was for your light mech to kill a heavy mech because it had more streaks.

I'd be ok with narc missiles exposing ecm covered units (even though it runs against the TT rules, it would make narc useful!) but BAP countering ECM would make ECM useless. If anything, ECM is the counter to BAP.

I think BAP should still give +200 radar range vs ECM protected targets. ECM would still hurt BAP by reducing detection range to 400 from 1000, but there would be a counter availiable when people spam ECM.

I think its fine as is. I never had problems with streakcats before, but all they have to do to get around ECM is replace 2 streaks with 2 srm 6's and they are just as effective as pre-ecm. TAG is already getting a huge buff next patch, and less mechs will run ECM once the novelty wears off(same as cataphracts, first day they came out each match had 6 of them between the two teams) and people stop mounting JUST target lock weapons and start fixing their builds. BAP could use a buff as well, but not negate ECM completely. I actually like this suggestion:

and at this point ur wrong it canot be that an sythem of 1,5T can domminate the battlefield (and it does..just try pug..only the side whit more ecm wins almost)

and by the way...at current state the Bap is wastet space..it needed an buff..so why not this?..

and really please dont argue about tactics or skill...the ecm requires lesser skill then an streak sythem (as example) you dont have to do anything exept be in range of ur buddys...and tactics?..lol if the enemy side got one more ecm mech as you do..then you will probably loose that match..so tellme who is tactic there?

Well, wait a minute: BAP is supposed to give you faster locks at longer range; ECM counters that.

BAP is also supposed to allow detection of powered down mechs under 200m. Isn't ECM sort of acting like it treats the covered mechs like they are powered down? So if BAP allowed that, ECM would counter 2/3 of BAP's functionality, while BAP would counter, what, 1/5 of ECM?

That's still not fair, IMO, but it would be a vast improvement over the current situation.

We need to see what other systems/effects are in the development pipeline before we try to assert or lobby for changes to recently introduced systems..

That's viable, but then you would have all of the whingers out here crying about heavy mechs being able to kill their lights too easily; as you can see, we're getting some of that with just the suggestion that 3 different systems should be able to partially offset 1 system!

They want ECM to dominate, obviously; nothing we say is likely to change the devs' minds about that. But, we can suggest reasonable fixes to make it not quite so all-encompassing. BAP working at range would allow the BAP mech to share information; I don't think they will like that. But if it only works to let the BAP mech target inside the bubble, then they can't share information out, right?
