Let NARC allow lock-on at short range with increased time, but it has to last longer (30s?) and maybe get more ammo (6/ton is really stingy; 300lb missiles with no warhead?).

This would be a compromise between the "LRN2PLAYNOOB" junta and the "ECM IS THE END OF THE WORLD" mob: It would require a direct hit from a dumb-fire weapon, then allow lock-on through ECM. This would allow the NARC'd enemy to recognize that the situation has changed and start evading instead of, presumably, sitting still in front of the streak-boat, shooting and laughing.

So... wouldn't this just mean that the Streak A1 pilots need to run 5x SSRM2 + 1x NARC to go back to business as usual before ECM?

I say:
  • Nerfbat the **** out of ECM
  • Kick the Raven down the stairs for being fugly and dumb
  • Sabotage the SSRMs in the COM-2D's launchers
  • Break the AS7-D-DC's fingers as a warning
Then spend the rest of the weekend watching "The Untouchables" and wondering what the hell happened to Kevin Costner's acting career...

I tried it a while back; as nearly as I could tell, it does absolutely nothing. And it does it for 15 seconds!

15 seconds would be way too short though

There is talk of either Gauss or PPC creating an EMP effect that would temporarily interfere with ECM, but it will probably be even shorter.

What do you mean, "back"? I still have it, it still works, and in PUGs, there's a decent chance that you have as much ECM as the enemy. I've swapped out 1 streak for an SRM6, so I have an alternative to suicide if I come up against a premade, but...

This "no skill" nonsense: If the mech was so overpowered, why weren't you running it? Doesn't that make you a "no skill" mech builder? How dare you tell me how to play the game?!

I actually tried it the last 2 days before ECM, almost fell asleep the game was so boring.

Find target, get lock, fire missiles... WIN!

Suicide against a pre-made.. that's impressive. If you can only win with the A1 streak cat against pugs I think it's quite clear why you want ECM gone or a very easy counter that mounts right on your A1. You simply can't deal with any sort of challenge.

Of all the things that ECM should do with a self limited electromagnetic field AND multiband frequency overload, limiting a NARC to broadcast a discretionable omnidirectional digital radio signal is RIGHT in what it should be able to do.

Do you even play this game? No premade is running without ECM now, usually multiple, and 1 or 2 is good for a PUG, which means that my streaks are going to do exactly squat.

PPC totally should disrupt ECM upon hit. Gauss not at all.

I hear there is some nice version of the Catapult called the K2 that doesn't mount any missiles and was once the target of OP complaints when mounting 2x Gauss Rifles. Have you considering trying that version?

Oh wait, that requires aiming without missile lock.

Last time I checked ECM does nothing to counter direct fire weapons. Clearly if you played this game you would know that right?

NARC has a high recast time and the damn thing fires like an unguided SRM, IOW's they don't stick well. NARC is useless as it stands now and adding 30 seconds to NARC will make it just as useless. NARC should work 100% inside an ECM bubble on all mechs but the mech that has ECM.
