Does anyone else want to have a toggle that allows us to see the damage we a doing as a number that floats up out of the enemy mech each time it is hit?

I personally would love this option.

I'd love a battle log window instead. Would be really nice to read after I was dead ^_^

All I need is some kind of damage/event log. Anything, really.

Floating damage numbers.No,absolutely not.It would look ridiculous to see damage numbers floating over an enemies head when I shot him,in my opinion.Far to MMORPG/consoley.I guess if it was optional to turn on/off i wouldn't have to deal with it.If they wanted to add a way to toggle between the current paperdoll damage readout and HTAL bars like.....pretty much every other mechwarrior game...ever,that'd be a decent addition.I personally am fine with the paper doll and think there are much more important things that PGI needs to get a handle on first.

O oh and critical hits can pop up with a big red CRITICAL! and we can give mech healing lasers too, and armor repair potions. And special hats that give +1 to dumb *** posts.

This is battle tech not world of mechcraft. Devs need to mercy lock this now.

Combat log no floating text.. Next your guys will be asking for hte commentator to say KILLING STREAK,

I'd like to see...something to tell what I did. Even if it's just a cosmetic crater on the enemy
's skin.

Floating damage numbers would not fit the idiom. Regarding crits, I'm pretty sure the voice over ai tells us when we score one. (Listen for it.)

With that said, I WOULD like some sort of option to go and check how much damage I'm doing with what and when, more than just the total number at the end of a match. There are many matches where my damage score is much lower than I would expect and I'd like to be able to identify the discrepancy so that I can adjust, both accounting for it play, as well as tweaking the mech if necessary.

However, I would much rather have PGI working on more immediate issues than this right now. As it stands, this is icing, and the cake is a bit fragile yet.

Game is woefully lacking in the stats department, but the OPs suggestion is just wildly immersion breaking.

Eh... I like knowing how much damage I'm dealing but that's somehow... RPGish. Not to mention how do you represent spread weapons like SRM's and LBX?

I'm fine with the damage graph.

EDIT: I would like it if I had the option to change it to bar graphs though like in prior games.

Maybe if it was a little number bar under your reticule, in the computerized yellow text that would roll up as you dealt damage, so you could see how much damage you had done per match at any given moment. Nothing obnoxious, just a little counter under the crosshairs.

No thanks. I was always under the impression this would be a simulation game, and I want it to stay a simulation game. Visual indicators (edit: actual damage visible on the armour, etc.) and a mech's sensor systems are enough.

would love to see criticals come up in chat (and keep the chat visible all the time with a toggle to turn it off if you don't want it)...also more info than just "component was destroyed"...made a module that allows you to see exactly what was destroyed on an enemy mech (ECM/BAP etc.)

Umm you deal the weapon's damage whenever you hit. Gauss Rifle does 15, AC5 does 5, ect.

The only weapons that aren't as clear are lasers (with bad aim) and missiles. But I don't think we need damage numbers to show up. That is why we have the mech damage displays. Remember this is a sim, some information you're supposed to be blind to.
