You get killed more because you might be running an AC20 cat that can deliver a 50pt alpha strike. If you want to be more successful, stick with the group and let the Atlas lead. Keep the Atlas between yourself and the enemy. DON'T SHOOT YOUR ATLAS IN THE BACK! Learn to aim so that you can fire from the lateral movement of your blocking Atlas moving out of the way or of the lateral movement of the enemy bringing them into view. Leading a brawler charge in a K2 is suicide.

Yes, because no one likes the K2 because it is not a real cat because it does not have ears!! :D

(Please note: this was intended as a joke, not to offend anyone!)

I once had a clear shot at an enemy Hunchback, and a Jenner pilot on my team popped in my way at the last second.

I laughed at the smoldering Jenner, while proceeding to fight the Hunchback. Another favorite is when the leading Atlas starts to back up into you...

Pro's:
The K2 can deal out quite a lot of damage (depending on build).
It's fast (84.4kph with all xp maxed and a 315 engine).
It has great torso twist.
It has tiny side torso's to hide big weapons and an XL engine in.

Cons:
It has a massive ct that is hard to miss.
It has a head hitbox almost as massive as the ct that is hard to miss if you're shooting the ct.

Conclusion:
It's a glass cannon.

everytime I get out my K2 catapult, no matter what I have on it, everyone always gangs up on me first, even if my whole team has my back, or if I have the most armor. I use the EXACT same tactics for my Huchback 4SP with 3 Large lasers, and I rarely ever get killed in it.

when I drive my hunchback, with 1 less large laser, I get more kills, better damage-per-round, and just dont get ganged up on, but when I drive my K2 (wich has more armor, is faster, and has 4 large lasers and DHS instead of 3 large lasers and DHS) I get stomped into the dirt, regardless if our team gets stomped or not

am I just doing something wrong? does the K2 have a bigger hit-box for the torso or something? or am I just really unlucky?

So you run a quad large laser K2 and wonder why you become a priority target?

The answer is simple.4 large lasers hurt a lot and if your mech is not taken out quickly it will kill friendlies.

It's also really easy to get a good shot in on a catapult from any angle. If I see a hunchback from the side, there's really no point in shooting as you'll mostly just damage one of its useless arms. A catapult? It doesn't matter angle I shoot you from, I can either hit your center torso or rear torso, and that's damage that matters. 1v1 this doesn't mean to much, but if I'm running looking for a flank there's no harm in firing off a couple of shots into a cat as I pass, since I know that damage I do is going to help my team out.

K2s are the worst Cat for 2 reasons:
-Cheese builds
-No jumpjets

Cheese builds make you a priority target. As has been said, if they see that you're an energy-based K2, they'll usually move on to something more intimidating.

Jumpjets make the other cats very difficult to put down if they're used well. They're also one of the only ways to stay alive once everyone sees your mech and simultaneously thinks "BOOM! HEADSHOT!". Without them, you're gimping yourself.

It is viewed as a very powerful variant there for people will target you first because you are deemed a threat.

See: GaussCat and AC20Cat hatred threads....

also a cat is easy to 1 shot so I'll take a quick shot at one and maybe get the enemy down a mech fast

Yep, K2's get picked off first. Have to play carefully and use your range potential. It also DOES have a really huge hitbox for the cockpit, and pretty much everything else will impact your CT, or cleanly blow off your arms.

I think they did a great job balancing it. Epic weapon-boating potential, but probably the easiest mech to headshot in the game. It also advertises your loadout from like 800m away.

It's still my fave mech...

Well you just switched from a medium to a heavy, instantly increasing your threat rating. Also, Catapult has a really large CT section (not to mention the gigantic head hatbox), so it will go down to focused fire fast. If you're rocking the 4LL build, try to stay at the back of your pack - you still do 100% of your damage up to 450 meters.

Gausscat = quickly targeted, slow (small engine), high alpha, & post-patch = "glass cat"
AC/20cat = extremely slow (smaller engine, and no XL), high alpha, low salvo, low range
AC/10cat = my build
It hurts.
And it does faster DPS than a gausscat.
At high range. (160% that of the AC/20)
With faster fire. (Than both of the other two)
And the same total damage per ton as a gausscat, and 10 damage per ton higher than an AC/20 cat.

You do the math.
Meanwhile, my 'cat and I will be shooting you from behind. You might want to hurry.
