Double Heatsinks - Do Any Of You Still Use Single Heatsinks On Your Mechs?

The ONLY mech that I would consider single heat sinks for is an Atlas with LOTS of heat, such as 3 PPC's. Otherwise it's pointless using SHS. This doesn't have to be the case, it might be worth considering making single heat sinks have a higher heat storage, so that whilst their cooling is poor, their ability to absorb heat and not overheat the mech is better. I know it's not in the TT, but it wouldn't change anything except making mechs be able to get hotter before overheating. I think then they would be of some use.

They need double strength heatsinks IMO. So we can mix/match SHS and DSHS. There have been cases for it in my personal experience.

To answer the OP... NOPE swap for 1.4 sinks as soon as I can. Though they are not Dubs they are better than singles.

DHS are pretty mandatory for every build, save Gausscat. Some people might believe that they don't need them, but if they actually upgraded, I'm pretty sure they would notice the difference. "I can manage my heat" is a fine excuse, and a good skill to have. It doesn't make the mech as efficient as it could be in the hands of a pilot who had upgraded.
Taking the commando example above, I'm pretty sure the same build with DHS in the hands of a capable pilot would lay waste to one without. Just because you can doesn't mean it's better.
Aw, heck. I'm sure there's someone out there with a '73 Ford Gremlin claiming that he can get "good mileage" out of the thing. Doesn't make it true.

No, mostly 10 DHS and the god-power of MWO, Ballistics. My two Awesomes just sit like rusting junk in an old barn.

Double heatsinks are great for 'mechs running endo steel structure, or ferrous-fibre armour. A .1 or .2 buff would be nice, but I'm still happy with where they are at.

Garth had this to say about DHS in the recent ask the dev thread.
He says full 2.0 DHS wont go in because it makes SHS obsolete(which is the point), and that nobody would use singles anymore. But now I want to ask, do any of you even use singles anymore? I know once I can afford it I slap doubles on my mechs. Engine heatsinks are already at 2.0, so I still just cant wrap my head around not making them all 2.0.
Even lore wise once DHS were out and common almost everybody switched over because singles suck.

single heat sinks?
i've never heard of those things good sir. Must be an antique you are talking about.

I have a very few builds that I use SHS on as to avoid using up all my slots. I use DHS the most, but not 100% of the time.

All my builds have doubles.

I think my gausscat is the only one without. I don't run any weapons other than the 2 gauss, so there would be no benefit at all to adding them. It is impossible to overheat that mech as is.

I haven't designed a mech yet that isn't better with doubles...assaults likely could do so...dual heatsinks let me do silly things like dual lrm 20 hunchies...

Every mech I play has doubles, with endo gave plenty of space to add some mlas to gauss builds so its good even there

The only mechs I use SHS on are the ones I'm just grinding out all the basics on so I can elite the variants I want to use.
Any mech I actually seriously want to use will get DHS, no question.
