Look it will keep you from running out there and getting your self killed. The videos had a timer counting down from 20 minutes. So take your time work as a team and you will live longer. From what I read once you punch out you can watch the game play out use it to learn the maps.
Doubtful that it'll have any effect on players' decisions other than annoying them afterward. Even if people have multiple mechs, most people will probably like one of their mechs more than the others anyway, so in that sense, they still have an incentive not to screw up too badly. Besides, a lot of deaths in games tend to either be unavoidable or be part of a gamble that made sense to take, so naturally, players penalized for either of those would be annoyed.

Do you mean like backing out of a battle and starting another one with another mech?
Couldnt you do this in World of tanks? if thats the kind of thing your talking about then I agree

You only got 1 starting tank in WoT? I swear it was 3, 1 for each country (before the French were introduced).

We seem to get at least 4 mechbay slots, from the images released. Hard to say what starting hardware/C-Bills we'll have, though. I suspect it may be viable to give everyone enough C-Bills at launch to either buy several light chassis or a single assault.

I think repair costs are a reasonable deterrent to suiciding. Without any information released yet about how points will be awarded for scouting/detection, it's premature to call for a death penalty for scouts because unit command is asleep at the wheel.

As for people getting bored having to wait for 15 minutes, whoopty-doo. Everything I'm seeing in this game so far seems to indicate the prime market they're driving for isn't people with the attention span of a fruit fly.

To be honest, I dont really care if I have to wait for a match to be done before backing out or if we only get one starting mech, I'm just wondering for the success of the game itself. WoT wouldn't have the popularity it does now if you had to wait out a 15m match after getting artied in the first 2 min.

As far as WoT goes, all the starting tanks were free so if you sold it you just lost your ammo and incidentals. You can always buy them back, but your crew would be back to 50% and you would have to rebuy any upgrades you added unless you saved them in the depot. It will be interesting to see what they do here.

Anyone wondering if you can do a DOTA-style "spectator" mode. Lets say your buddies are in a match and you want to wait for them, you can spectate their game from his point of view until its done. Perhaps have a "featured" page with some more important battles between corps or whatever. I'm sure this is too much to ask for this early on but it sounds cool as ****.

If we only get one starting 'Mech it should be...

The Chameleon!!!

Posted Image

It's the ultimate training 'Mech! Moderate tonnage, decent speed, gets newbie pilots familiar with the heat scale as well as jump jets with relatively cheap, basic weapons... This 'Mech should give new pilots a decent feel of the game in order to figure out which direction they want to go in their 'Mech career (lighter, heavier, faster, more firepower, etc...), and still let them survive long enough to get some C-Bills to get those 'Mechs that they want.

Why are you assuming that if you die in a match you can't start another game?

That isn't the assumption. The assumption is that we wont get a chance to start another game because we'll only have one mech.

I hope to start in a cheap one. At least until I get the hang of the new game. I'm guessing without AI to train againt, the first few matches will be hard lessons. So, cheap until I learn suits me.

I hope this game has a training room so we can go in and get the feel for the game before jumping right into it....This game looks like its going to handle much different tthen the other MW games, kinda like MW3, which i never did get the hang of...

MW3 didnt handle for **** with a Joystick, and mouse and keyboard is going to be an awkward setup....

I do hope the Mechlab video is right..we get to pick any mech in the list with our 50billion? or was taht million Cbills? lol.

1: It can be from any weight class, this has already been confirmed.

2: I -think- money will be involved to the point where you can probably get two starting 'Mechs in light/med, or an assault or heavy, which would most likely not die within the first 5 minutes.

No you got 3 starting tanks in Wot origionaly. With the addition of the French tanks you now get 4 starting tanks.

Im hoping for just gettimg my hands on some c-bills and purchasing what i want right off the bat. That way i can have some leftover money for customizing up what i buy. Dont mind waiting for the next match to start either. Scout the terrain, watch how others do things or just have time to go for a smoke.

OK. You have 1 mech, you start a match, you get destroyed in the first minute (overheat ammo explosion, thems the breaks). You exit the match, hit the repair button, and start another match. the whole time the rest of your lance/company is still fighting the in the first game.

I am still not seeing the part were 1 mech means you can't join a second game after the first.

Anyone who can't run a few drops to build up the cash for a 2nd mech needs to learn some meditation or something.
