Almost every thread I read someone in there states that they can't believe PGI did something without testing it first. Do these people not understand that we are the testers? Everyone playing right now is a beta tester. I have seen some people argue that it stopped being beta when they started charging for things. I have been playing since open beta started and I haven't been charged anything. If someone chooses to pay money for a beta game that was their decision, they where not charged anything.
I have also noticed on the forums how people think that by insulting PGI and the devs they can get things changed. If there is something about the game you don't like or think isn't working the way it should then by all means make a post about it, we are beta testers and it is our job to do so. The devs need to know how we feel about the game not how we feel about them. If they read a post that insults them they are not going to take it seriously. When you post, state what the problem is, state what if any ideas you have to fix it and do it with without insulting the devs or anyone else and they might actually listen to what you have to say.

LOL.

Beta.

LOL.

The game is eternally beta. It will ALWAYS be Beta. One could almost call it "Alpha" considering the slow roll-out of features, maps and mechs.

I got 20k MC with my founders pack that i spent money on, so it was launched then, i guess.

sorry, still beta. unless of course you can show me in the official Beta Rulebook that says that once they charge for something that it';s no longer beta. Or where it says that the state of software is dependent on whether it's for sale or not.

I must have an older version of the Official Beta Rulebook that only states: Its still a beta because they said so.

They are using it as a marketing tool so masses of customers/the industry will use it as a care bear pillow, an excuse as to why their terrible business practices and ability to deliver are the way they are.

"Oh It's only Beta, I'll give them some slack".

It's one of those games that will never truly leave Beta, even if they take the tag off tomorrow or 4 months from now. What would change? A year from now even? New features and items will be constantly flowing into this game, changing it and the faith is running thin.

They said the game would launch as a minimum viable product. Enjoy your minimum viable product. This is it. Launched. Open to the public. You are able to buy things for the game.

The facts are staring you right in the face about it not being Beta anymore. Sorry that your world view is threatened on a subconscious level where you have to dismiss said facts.

P.S Founders was essentially a kick starter. The gloves are off now that you can purchase MC and items through their system.

Stop being brainwashed drones. I know it's hard, but please try.

This is Beta and I like the game.

If PGI has hurt your feelings in someway, I would suggest doing something fun instead of spamming the forums.

Firstly I agree that this is still beta, however, it is an unusual beta because the emphasis is once again on generation of money and not fixing bugs as I would ordinarily expect during a beta.

I could go into a litany of the bugs found and reported, many of which were fixed in closed beta and now with various patches have resurfaced.

The priority seems to be on cosmetic changes and not on fixing the bugs.

That's why they needed an open beta, to see what would break when more people use the system.

Lets add some humor. When my wife was pregnant we spent money on lots of things for the yet to be delivered baby.

That's not a good comparison. You can't make sweeping changes to the baby, before or after "launch". B)

If anything, your own software for dealing with the baby goes into a beta revision...

Honestly is there ANY incentive for them to ever make this game NOT beta?
They lose their criticism shield, theyre already making money, etc

I agree, except that in open beta, we normally test specific areas of the game and submit bug reports and then there are normally constant patches going on to fix those bugs, but that doesn't seem to be happening.

It depends what the developers need. From reading these forums it seems the networking code that was fine for the closed beta broke when it was opened up to a larger audience - with that not working properly it's difficult to get a proper idea of how to fix things. Focused testing is more the kind of thing you will do in closed beta.

Man who make program sit on *** through closed and open beta, then. I get that the netcode takes "lots of work". The HUD vanishing, or visuals going yellow, or CTDs taking this long to fix... egads. Not sure if you were here for CBT, but these issues have floated around since about 2 months before release opening it up to the public as well.

Yes you can, but the features are limited to poking the baby so that it kicks your wife in the kidneys. At least MWO has more features and PGI gives me less grief than my wife did when she was pregnant.

to be fair, in roughly the same time period, MWO still has more features than baby 1.0 had when it was first "launched" as well

I personally feel that, if you actually look at the state if the game, it is still in an obvious "beta" state. As stated ad nauseum, we are missing most of the features and game modes, there are many unreleased 'mechs, and there are problems with the technical aspects of the game itself. The arguement that "it isn't beta because they took my money" doesn't hold water. If YOU were a game company, and someone wanted to spend money buying Chrismas lights and dashboard bobbleheads for the digital product you were creating, would you not sell it to them? The developers are working VERY hard on this game, and for members of the community to waste everyone's time complaining seems selfish and short-sighted. Volunteering to spend money on in-game items DOES NOT amount to being charged for a finished product.

Diablo 3 was a HUGE budget game, heavily tested and marketed; and yet when it was released, there were still widespread problems. That game we had to spend $60 on before we found out that it was lousy. I played this game, for free, for weeks before I decided to buy MCs. I did, and plan to continue buying them as needed, because I want to support PGI and encourage them to keep up the good work. At no time was I forced to buy, or even pressured to buy anything in order to play this game. Blaming others for your own decisions is pretty weak.
