So, with all this talk of a 3rd person prespective mode being added in as a match maker option I got to thinking, why not do the same thing for stock mechs? I know there a quite a few of us out there who have always enjoyed playing stock only games and I think it would also help all the newer players stuck in trial mechs who are completely out classed by the custom mechs.

Pretty please? ;)

Then you'll get pugglings crying about experienced players dropping into their trial only matches and wtf pwning them, they gotta create a boogieman every time to excuse their poor performance.

With the current state of balancing and trialmechs - and the way the devs are going with it, IMHO these matches would be best described as:

Agony vs misery

Still better than them facing experienced players in their pimped out master mechs. I'm experienced and I'd probably drop in trials occasionally if there was a trials only game mode.

trial mechs are nowhere near as bad as ppl seem to think, I regularly take 4 trial mechs into 4vpugs and /pugstomp quite effectively with em.

I would love a 'stock only' game type. I would not love a trial only game type (which I only mention because most posts after the first keep saying trial). The concern of higher heat and limited ammo is a fun challenge.

Well that would defeat the purpose of trials altogether :-p. Maybe if there was a discount on stock only mode mechs that you still had to purchase?

? When was the last time you dropped without a group in a trial mech? Did you really enjoy that? Was your performance so great that we stand in Awe? phhht

The OP is suggesting something quite reasonable. Trial mechs vs trial mechs. Experienced players will have an advantage, sure. But not in a 'Suped-up' ride. New pilots will learn a lot quicker in that field, then dealing with the current layout.

Pug games with new players is what will keep this project going forward. Disenchanting and ego tripped attitudes like above doesn't help at all.

I don't follow what you mean. Trials exist to give new players a way to earn money without needing to pay cash up front. The way I see it, in a stock-only game type, you can drop in any pure stock mech. Trial or not. New players who have yet to buy a mech would of course be limited to the trials for that week, but it wouldn't keep out other players who want to roam around in their stock mechs just because they aren't on the trial list for that particular week.

Well ok then, I just want PGI to make some money so they finish this game. Trials make you want to buy new mechs, if you had access to all mechs, even if stock, the urge to buy one to customize it would be lower.

Yea Dropping in a 'stock only' game type, would be fun. As long as it doesn't change my customization. It would be a nice game/group mode to drop into. Where player skill in handling the Table Top version would create a more balance game play.

Would absolutely love a stock mode, I would probably play it 90% of the time.

This sounds like a good idea. A way to ease in new players into MWO.

What I mostly played online in MechWarrior 3 was Stock Only matches. It was tons of fun. We had alot of clans playing only this mode. And, besides Ballistics only, our games would be full.

No sir. It's going to be counter vs counter and ultimate team work.

I'd love to see this, but given the system PGI has setup for how we pick and build mechs I doubt it will happen.

When you combine this with the dual gauss/ssrm/srm laser boating etc, its pretty clear we will be stuck with boat warrior for some time to come.

Hopefully at some future date PGI will be able to let us run stock mech battles.

Since anyone pro enough knows stock mechs is where the real mechwarriors come to play :P

Yea, the group I've played with for the last ten years or so has played exclusively stock since MW3 and it's a really fun challenge and much more beginner friendly.

They sure do, I hope that we will atleast be able to organize closed matches if we don't get a stock mode.
