Seriously... they already wasted time on all these little bandaid fixes (Phase 1 and 2) because of all the QQ'ing. Deal with it until ELO comes out which should be quite soon.

It's not like you don't have a solution (hint hint...GET VOICE COMMS!) to even the odds. If you refuse to do it and are stubborn about only wanting to solo knowing you'll be at a disadvantage... you don't have anyone to blame but yourself.

Simply match based on party size.
- Playing solo? then put a solo on the other side.
- 4 player group? Put a 4 player group on the other side.
- Have a group of 6? Put a 6 player group on the other side.

The one restriction would be a certain "wait time" such that if you couldn't find a 6 person group then the game would pull from the next highest that was immediately available (say a 5 or 4 + 2)

i really thought that the matchmaking would work like this...and i REALLY wonder why it doesn´t...
there are enough possibilities to counter a grp of 6 ...4+2, 3+3 if a bit coordinated would be effective enough...
i agree that a SOLO + the NORMAL que would most likely not leave enough people for the "normal" to be really enjoyable... for me personally, there are 3 situations: weither i play with full 8 with DHB, or if we can´t, full 4... and 3rd, with 2 of my RL friends, and very rearly we are 4... so the solo que would be a no go 95% of my time, and even 4 man only happens sometimes... we NEED the 3 man option, otherwise we have to do something, that all those soloists refuse to do...find "strange people" to drop with... so..you don´t want it, why should i?

I've been saying for months they simply needed to add color coding to the drop screen where they show people's names as they join the match. In a group? Your name is green.

Personally I would rather have a color like that mark friends like it does in other games but I do agree that marking groups makes sense. Coloring names like that wouldn't really say much though if 4 2 man groups look the same as an 8 man group. Just have a UI the groups grouped player's names together and we would be perfect in that area.

2 things would work better.

1. Battle Value 2.0 system
2. ELO

Combine the two and you have an excellent tool for balancing matches.

Simply awesome.

OP, idea is dumb. Currently groups with greater than 4 less than 8 are forced to split and not play together.

That's real easy to thwart too, dropping with the intention of lowing your score. Then, you pubstomp to HELL and back. Rinse and repeat.

Then let them... I don't think alot of people will actually waste their time to purposely lose many matches to lower their rating then stomp their way back up to exactly where they were... it's counter intuitive. But sure there will always be trolls looking to grief people.... you will never stop people like that. They'll always find a way to accomplish giving other people a bad experience.

However for the majority, ELO is the best way to manage it. There should be a range for trial mech only users, new players, and various other skill levels. Face the people of the same level...

If you made PUG only queues... there will still always be more experienced PUGS stomping on new player PUGs with trial mechs and then the complaining will keep going.

It tells me that the minute they do this, we'll see a thread complaining about people sync dropping 8 individuals into the pug-only queue to farm.

Because that's the only possible way they could have lost.

Deal with it for a month. Let ELO sort out the rest.

4 organized people with voicecom are enough to stomp 8 pugs.

And ELO will sort all the 4man farmers out, when they have to play against people who had made their score with real games.
And with the score they reach until them, they have to take a lot of defeats until playing against people of their skill. I say this judged of the comments about imbalanced 8vs8 drops, imbalanced 8vs8 ecm and the increase of 4mans in puggames a few days after the last patch.
The first days where great, but then the not so good 8 mans (mostly whiners about imbalanced tonnage and ecm) split up to have a real challenge again and flodded the pugcrew.
Do you remenber the "goodbye puggies" tread before patch? A lot of this names you can now find in puggames ....

Let them sort out all new players in this month and her friends and the other 7 people they will tell how bad this game is.
Best thing you can do, if you want make money with a free to play game .... (is there a stupid smiley?)

So what stops 12 or 16 or 20 people from the same team all picking solo and then hitting Launch at the same time? Odds are fairly good some of them will end up together. Then you have a group in your non group crowd.

I know that the ELO system will be the one to bring balance to the Force, but i don't believe we will see it anytime soon. They took this long to separate 8 players from PUGs, how much time it will take to implement a system that you need to do actual math and record keeping?

By then this game will have burnt a lot of new players...

works very good in WoT ...used to do it with a few people when noone had premium

really guys, if you want solo gaming with all force, why not play MW4 campaign mode...oh right, the AI comes in groups^^

Phase 3 + ELO system is already in final testing phases according to one of the command chair updates.... should be coming in the next few weeks hopefully.

The game is still in Beta... you will always be burning new players since its not even a complete game yet. As it gets better people will come in again.

Just have standard servers. Jez!

I want to meet my friends on a server and play with them or AGAINST them and maybe meet some new guys and make a few new friends. You can't do any of that right now. You won't be able to do that with their future system.

I don't know why PGI is so in love with their crappy match system. It sucks! It is ok to admit that you went down the wrong development path and make something better. It happens all the time in my line of work.

Its almost like there were dozens of us saying that splitting teams from pugs wasnt going to help the pugs any, BECAUSE TEAMS IN A TEAM GAME arent what's wrong with the poor pugs. It's their suckitude that is the problem, not teams.

I was soloing last night (in my ECM equipped mechs) just to see how bad it was. It turned out that i was scoring over 1000 damage just about every round, because the Pugs suck that bad. i'm sure those poor pugs were convinced that we were an 8man team sync dropping, but it was just me and whoever i got thrown on a team with. no voice coms, very little, if any, team coordination in chat, no super duper focus firing. they just sucked that bad.

stop demanding "fixes" to the wrong problem and start learning how to play the game.

lulz, "ELO will fix everything", we will be "developing" that for a year while they take it back and forth from one extreme to the next.

Personally I like the idea of a solo drop cue, what's wrong with that?

because splitting up a fairly small playerbase will only hurt the game worse than a few crybabynoobs on the forum.

Keep in mind that their internal testing took two weeks just to sign off on Paul's AC/PPC velocity changes. If "a period of testing will commence shortly," I wouldn't expect to see ELO for at least a month, IF they don't actually find anything that requires fixing.

I would really like the game to "mark" grouped people ingame. Some sort of small icon to indicate that this player dropped with 1-3 others visible by enemies and friendlies alike.

Something along the lines of: I dropped with one other guy so both of us have a "2" besides our triangle.

Would help to focus fire, run from or stick with grouped people.

OT: Color coding for group members (all from your group have green triangles) would be a great option to...

Why should the other side know that? I can see that for guys in same side of Drop... But not for the targets,, I always play expecting the other team to be two 4 mans even if not a sync drop(which is never a sure thing btw) If you play expecting that then your life is easier..

An obvious "I don't understand how games work but I know what I like" post. I understand your frustration but on think YOU have to understand is server resources. While theoretically possible to do what you are proposing, the resources required to run a server for every two people playing the game would be intense.

Of course, making an option to go non-premade matches only would be fine, by me. Because if you are too lazy to join a group and play the game the way it was meant to be played, I don't mind if you have your own separate practice matches.

If its a month then its a month. Many would rather have them spending the time to develop and test that vs stopping work/diverting resources to create a PUG only queue which only helps 1 group. It won't even stop PUGstomping. You delay a solution which will benefit everyone to divert to a solution which only helps one sub group... makes no sense to do that especially when theres a solution available that they're just too lazy to take.

PUGs always use the excuse that they're the life blood and that new players are the life of the game. Let's say we all accept that premise...

Will a ELO system help these new players more where they will only face people of their same level/loadouts (bad vs bad, trial mechs vs trial mechs, etc etc)?

OR

Will a PUG only system help them more... where they will still be stomped by more experienced PUGS with decked out mechs vs their own trial mechs?

These same PUGs accusing Premades of bashing on them will turn into exactly the same problem they were complaining against... they will become the Pugstompers.
