Personally I love this game, and play every spare minute I get. But this i completely understand;

http://m.pcgamer.com...e-year-nominees

And before all the 'but it's beta' calls so is DOTA 2, Hawken goes open beta today, and planetside has only just gone release.

Sad state of affairs.

i mean i think by now everyone on the forums have had adjusted their expectations now for this game. this is no big surprise.

They are getting better now. no more "i'm quitting" threads negative threads (though not sure if thats due to censoring), and the patch quality has improved, but it will take a long time to undo some of the things from previous patches

but yeah, hawken is on there. I think Planetside 2 will win in the MP shooter category though

No, not surprising at all. Unless, of course, you work for piranha.

Neither am I... PC Gamer is biased and subjective as heck ( Any review site that gives Duke Nukem Forever 80/100 I get immediately suspicious about. )

I'm not saying that if it weren't it would change anything,

Is anyone surpeised? i mean seriously? anyone who look at this game in a unbiased light can tell in the first 5 min of gameplay this is in a alpha state not even beta yet.

Nominating it for game of the year before even hitting beta would be a little pre mature dont you think?

Ok seen GW2 listed that makes the rest of the list a joke.
I played GW1 for 7+ years great game, got GW2 and have never seen a worse game ever, full and i mean FULL of bugs even to this day, a super grind, no skill needed and no content. So if GW2 was listed it just tells me the people putting that list together were either Bribed or have no bloody idea.

I fail to see how mwo not appearing on someones opinion peice of game of year would be a wake up call. If they would vote hawken as game of the year based on zero days released, it would make me wonder.

But from my point of view, its not going to ruin my game that some reporter/editor from one magazine has not included it on a list.

It's a wake up call cause most the list is crap or in closed beta. And I'm fairly sure it's a statement of their nominees, not an opinion piece.......

As someone who has read PC Gamer for over 15 years and still has a subscription, I kinda chuckle when people say they're "biased" or whatever when they publish something they don't like. I have seem them tear down "AAA" titles from the very publishers that advertise in their magazine (often advertising the game itself in the same issue).

Overall they tend to offer some of the best coverage of the industry, certainly better than any of the online gaming sites I've seen.

I always found their reviews to be pretty spot on to my POV.

just because it wasnt nominated for game of the year doesnt detract from my enjoyment of the game and it also doesnt have any bearing on PGI or where they think the game should go...

And yet, millions of people disagree with you.

No, really ... people actually like D3. Especially people who aren't hard-core gamers who played D2 for 10 years.

I played D3 for hundreds of hours with friends; it was fun, and I got plenty of entertainment out of it for my $60

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean other people don't.

Wasnt PGI affiliated with it. I know someone that is working on this was. so apparently giving it 80/100 means they at least like this cause it was bad

If the open beta that starts in about 15 hours time is any good, PGI won't need to lock many more threads...

They really, really, REALLY screwed up big this time - not releasing a major content patch (err, new game mode might have helped) this week. 12.12.12 has been a known date for a while for the other mech type game going OB. Yes, it's not Mechwarrior, but to be brutally honest... neither is this!

So, why don't you start a game company, make a Mechwarrior game, and show everyone how it's done, bra?

Straw Man. PGI actually IS a "game company." And right now they are failing.

PGI did the PS3, Xbox ports for the Duke and also the multiplayer.

Lulz all around, they're on me this time. Its interesting and superbly ironic that not less than three months ago PC Gamer was tauting all freakin awesome MWO was, and how it was easily going to be in the running for GOTY. And judging by how many people are putting their feet in their mouths about bias opinions, I'm the only one who read it.

Listen, you can't say "Hooray, PC Gamer is totally right, MWO does rock" then three months later go "PC Gamer you suck cause your wrong, MWO still rocks" simply because they re-assessed the facts.

And GW2 is on there because lets face it, there are very few true MMOs not already covered by two other categories (they also have to have been released this year). So by default its on there, now if it wins that category, maybe we can talk about bribery.
