I just started playing an LRM boat a couple of days ago, and I gotta say, I am having a blast. It's so easy too, stand on high up place, wait for red triangle to appear, make it rain on red triangle.

Can't believe I havn't been doing this the whole time.

Yes FIre support is a long honored tradition that people give little credit to. Just make sure you have Close range weapons for when the scouts come to put a stop to your barrages.

I tend to take a rearguard to the main attack force, that way any lights that slip through have to face the force of the whole team.

I've seen far too many LRM boats thinking they are fixed artillary pieces at 999 meters away to make that mistake. Mechs have legs, I use them.

Ya, didn't you know? It's the best role ever. You can just park right on top of a hill, drink your coffee, and fire missiles at enemies. No one ever snipes you, throws missiles of their own at you, flanks you, or bothers you at all. Your missiles never hit terrain either and you do # 1 damage every game. Without even spilling your coffee.

Put a TAG on your boat and you can shotgun LRM volleys into someones face at 300m.

Step one: on top of the hill doesn't always literally mean on top of the hill, the high ground can be a place with good line of sight or an angle with little cover for the target. It can also mean a place where you are well defended by friendlies.

Step two: I don't like coffee, I prefer beer.

Step three: Snipers almost always run for cover when there is a missile barrage headed their way, even if it is dumbfired.

Step four: Enemy missile are mostly neutralised by your own ECM cover.

Step five: Enemy flankers must also deal with your friendly mechs if you are positioned correctly.

Step six: Too many "coffees" can cause you to become drunk and spill your "coffee" regardless of the combat at hand, this is an unnavoidable fact of LRM boating.

Why bother? At 300m, just use Medium Lasers instead... Even at 450, you can just use a Large Laser instead...

If you happen to have your own tag and a 6year olds sense of tactical positioning then lrmboating is still easymode. You have higher and more accurate dps then any other weapon and you only need to hit the big red box to ct everybody. Lights also suddenly become a non issue and DDCs loaded up with ecm and streaks are like free kills strolling around in the open.

Some may think this is also a sarcastic post.....if you believe that then you really need to l2p, lrmboating(on a DDC to be fair :)) is still one of the easiest ways to dominate a game, if you happen to be in a group and have 2 then it is barely any different from pre patch lrmboating, which as most people with even a tiny amount of knowledge about game mechanics should know was complete faceroll to victory every single game.

I do not bring my own TAG.
I am piloting a DDC.
I do not play in a group, solo pug only.

Why would you devote 100 tons of mech to a single type of weapon and not get the 1ton laser that drastically improves said weapon in every single way just by leaving your mouse in the box you need to keep it in to maintain lock anyway......especially if you are going solo with no support to break enemy ecms/protect you.

I just do not understand some people :/

i agree that in the team premade option with a tag buddy or two/ ecm friendly lrm's are balanced. in pugs, an aws 8r has 4 missle hard points and 2 energy so using it as an lrm boat means tagging leaves you out in the open and the brawlers will out run and outgun you. sitting back is bad cause ecm is mobile cover you can waste a lot of ammo losing the forever and a day lockon's then you're flanked. i hated lrm boating before ecm, now as a pugger you just look stupid. srms for that poor chassis varient. hmm the things you do to fill in a mech tree. can't wait to ditch it and get back to easy LOS sniping! XD
