@Thomas
Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent info... it's clear that you put a lot of time and energy into this posting and you've given me a lot to think about. In fact, I believe I need to say thanks to some others who have commented and left meaningful responses too. So @others.. thanks! ;-)

Hehe, then I would like to extend a thanks to ya vulpes. Between you n catamount this section of the forums is actually quite helpful. Either that or i just see the purple eagle way too often.

On a total side note, got tired of waiting for the asus 670 top to get restocked, so i bought the MSI power edition that suddenly popped up at newegg. Anyone know if this amazing spur of the moment idea won't blow up in my face?

It won't, however I would have recommended the Powercolor PCS+ 7870 or HIS IceQ 7870 over the MSI power edition personally. The PCS+ has a higher factory OC and the IceQ has the lowest running tempratures of a 7870, and is able to overclock it's core speed higher than any other 7870 in what reviews I've read.

Edit: Somehow managed to confuse myself.
-The MSI power edition Twin Frozer IV is better in my opinion versus the Asus DCU2 TOP.

Err those two would be faster than the 670 power edition? Unless you're talking about the msi hawk 7870?

Oh sorry confused myself it seems.

And it will be fine. In fact you will probably be able to get a higher overclock, should youtry to do so.

Excellent post, Thomas! I learned a great deal from it; for example, I never knew why I hated my Saitek X52's center feel, until now. I'm left sincerely hoping that the spring-and-plate, and the pots, end up in the trashcan when they make the final version of the Artemis.

Lots of great tips! Yes, $20 or so can be a good investment in a better cooler; that will help with using a CPU to the max (eg games, video editing), but for those who just web surf, not really needed. I recommend looking at buying a new system about every 4 years.

However, I feel you are dead wrong about AMD CPUs haveing the best value for games. Intel chips run more efficently, cooler, generally run faster for the $, not to mention if AMD happens to edge above Intel for the same price, the few dollar difference will be made up by Intel's lower wattages.
But people should go by our opinions either way, they should do their own research:

Why did this get pinned? Ok, so there is twelve monitors. Are they hooked up to the same tower? If so, how? There aren't linked together to work as one monitor, so it's not like the system is running some awesome uber resolution. I just don't understand how this got pinned, yet Vulpesveritas' GPU guide hasn't been pinned(which is alot more useful in this forum than a simple picture of twelve monitors with absolutely no details of the setup)

Minimum spec for MWO is 4GB RAM, while recommended for MWO is at 8GB RAM. Time to stop recommending 4GB for new builds. ;)

Thank you.
I still have a one-sided bet with Garth (somewhat stupid me) saying I'll be able to get five people to recommend it to be pinned... >.> *cough cough*
Can those who think it should be pinned possibly maybe like request it in said thread so I can have it pinned then perhaps maybe?

Anyhow. Though I am wondering myself how this got pinned.

Ha even one of those monitors would be an improvement on my old school 17" CRT. Think its 15 years old at this stage!

8GB kits are so cheap these days, I've recommended them for a year or two, just because most people can easily squeeze the whopping extra $20 or so into their build. Someone had to be very strapped for cash, for me not to.

Yes, some people were recommending 4GB for new builds. Not sure if it was this thread or others I've seen, but posting it in the few hardware threads I had participated in recently.

I had never heard of PowerColor gpu's before this post. Thanks for taking the time to keep working on this. I might have to build my own rig, my old gaming laptop with the GTS 9700m isn't going to cut it. I will probably have some more questions as this process moves on.
