Sadly I don't think marketing plans fall under copyright protection.

That game is being created by a developer called Splash Damage and a publisher called WarChest neither of which have anything to do with PGI/IGP.

I doubt it will be anywhere near as successful as the founders program was for MWO - there's no prior install base to draw from.

For what? Battletech is far older that WoT. As for the F2P economy being set up similar... well like I said marketing and business plans as far as I know do not fall under copyright protection.

Poindexter, are you dense? The client for this game did not exist until the client for this game was made, which was... I dunno 9-11 months ago? The scrolling bay at the bottom, the chat on the right, the mech displayed in the middle surrounded by UI elements... It's IDENTICAL to world of tanks.

So what if they're copying Piranha's 3 Founder choice plan? It isn't MechWarrior. Lol at your "Pgi could sue these guys" line. Copying a business model or some font text/colors isn't something anyone cares about.

I really hate seeing the word "sue", as I live in a country where you can be sued for sitting at home, minding your own business. These people were inspired by MWO, as MWO was inspired by other games.

I know this was in jest, but lets remember that progress begets progress, and it's better to share in our success than stifle knowledge for sake of pride

The games share similar economies, business models, and UI layouts. This could be because of copying and it could be because it just plain works. I'm thinking it's a little bit of both. Either way a lawsuit would just waste money from both companies and likely bankrupt them.
