First, Sarcasm is anger's ugly cousin.
Second, ECM has significantly changed the battlefield. I for one dont find it better or worse, just different. Now we are running chassis that were often overlooked. I LOL now when I hear that commandos are OP... A couple patches ago, no one with enough C bills was running a commando because it has no jump jets, less weapons/armor and roughly same speed as a Jenner. All the forum whiners get to take a break from crying about LRM boats and start whining about DDC's and Ravens.
If you cant adapt your play style to the current battlefield then take a break for 2 weeks and the next patch will change the landscape again. The "tweaks" we are getting regularly refresh the best tactics and strategies for this game. Its keeping the content a bit more fresh for me. After many months of playing the Forest/caustic/frozen over and over the changes made by ECM have altered what mechs you face and where you face them on the map and how to win.
Glass half full.

Would that I could `Like` a post, the one quoted below in particular, more than once. Multiple times even. Spot-on. And it applies to so much more than just ECM.
Whatever it is, it`s fine. The problem is so very often in the complainant`s unwillingness to adapt. No battleplan survives contact with the enemy (or ECM, or Streak, or LRM, or Light `mechs). Adapt or die. Rely on your teammates, and be a teammate to be relied on.
Besides, there`ll be something new to whine about adapt to in the next patch.

Here we go! Someone who understands!
I'm right there with you about knee-jerk reactions and hatred of the flavor of the month. However, there's more to the situation than just telling people to "stop whining and adapt." I
do adapt. I have real-world tactical training (on armored vehicles, even!) and overseas deployment experience. Not to mention a ton of PvP experience on a variety of online games. No plan survives contact with the enemy, and if you don't pay attention and look around you from time to time, you're going to get flanked an slaughtered.
But with the combination of lag shields and ECM, I can't adapt - because there's no effective counter. I wholeheartedly agree that the problem with light mechs' ECM isn't primarily a problem with ECM. But even when fighting at long ranges, ECM gives a huge advantage over anyone without it - for a whole 1.5 tons of combat weight. So, I don't want ECM to be crippled. But I don't think that my play should feel crippled and punished because I don't have access on my team to a 1.5 ton system.
Finally, if Sarcasm is anger's ugly cousin, Condescension is its wicked stepmother.
