I managed to stay alive for 3 more minutes and take out an awesome before I ran out of SSRM ammo and was finally destroyed.
Yes I was shot at a couple times in those three minutes ,but it mostly missed. Note this was after the recent netcode fix, so no lag shield (never could rely on that anyways), just dumb luck.

*edit*: Seriously? You can't have a word that ends in " 's " followed by the word 'hit'? xD

Being in an AWS-8T quad PPC and landing a headshot alpha on K2 gausskitty at 500m. Got called an aimbotter.
Being in my 9M triple PPC and out-PPC'ing a 4xER PPC stalker.
Being in a Spider with an ER LLaser on top of a building on Frozen Night and killing 4 AC20 cats because they couldn't hit me, and proceeded to call me a lagshield light even though I simply stood still.

Enemy had one ECM cicada, I was facing off against, he was deep red CT.
He comes up on my flank
I counter turn and reverse to get a clean shot when he overshoots
...
CRUNCH
...
I see a dead cicada pinwheel across the bottom of my screen
He ran into me and died from the collision damage.
The other 1v1 duel ended in our favor as well, victory 8-6.

At the very least, you've found a legit use for the MG... skill camouflage I know this could work on me... if I hear the pings of a MG, I could very well switch targets without looking closely. I've laughed at MG Hunchies in the past... never again!
My first kill came after about 2 days of play as well. I'll never forget it. I jumped up out of my chair and yelled to the wife "I got a kill! WOOHOO!" I think sometimes folks forget that this is a challenging game for folks who come in late and are forced to deal with skilled opposition
My first kill, IIRC, was an Atlas while piloting a HBK-4H w/ Gauss. I cored them out, and I remember it well; It was back on Wednesday. I was actually in a great mood when lunch was over and I went back to class.
Tonight, however, I managed to kill two phracts and a couple of others in the same match.
The first Phract was as I came up the hill in Forest Colony, and looked down--Oh, Hi there, Phract! Bye-ee with MPLs.
The other was due to LRM-spam. I think there was a legged spider in the mix-up, too, that I popped with MPLs as well.
My KDR is abyssmally low, sitting at 0.53 or so, but then again, I've only played 172 games so far.

In my D-DC with dual LBX-10s in a single grouping, getting harassed by a raven and its annoying me. I call out over TS "Somebody get this damn raven off me, I'm in front of the arch" knowing one of my phract allies is behind me and willing to engage.
My teammate responds in kind "Rocket you got a cicada to your left". Without thinking I automatically turn to put the target in my firing lane and let go with both barrels of my two LBX-10s. The cicada takes the hit right to his face with such force that he jerks backwards violently and slams into the ground sending his legs over his head as he skids to a stop on his back.
2.
This was more of an assist but I was supporting a flank on an enemy stalker around the edge of the crater in caustic. I popped up to give the stalker some dual uAC/5s and then prepare to sneak around behind him while my teammates starting laying into him. From behind a rock formation I suddenly see a weapon hard point roll down the hill in front of me. I look up the hill to see black smoke from where the target should be and then a kill confirmation on my screen that the stalker is dead.

Out team annihilated the other team until there was one lowly spider left fleeing everyone.
I had just killed a heavy mech in my Commando 2D and i was over a thousand meters away from my team mates slowly surrounding the surviving spider.
I managed to run all the way at 130 odd kph, straight in between all my team mates, locked onto the spider and then fired three streaks directly into the spiders face as he turned around.
M-M-M-MONSTER KILL!!!

I had 2 small lasers, TAG LRM 5 and LRM 15.
I was worried because I had dmg to my RT and my XL was exposed.
Enter the Spider at the base heavy dmg with a TAG on his arm
Thus the 2 small laser Raven beat the TAG Spider.

well, apparently, while I was moving to my new position, my team had decided to fall back, and the opposing team had moved significantly forward - by the time I came around to my *flanking* position, instead of coming up on the enemy's side, I came up entirely behind them
lo and behold, the first thing I lay eyes on is an Atlas, standing totally still, with his back to my Cataphract 1x with erppc, guass rifle and 4 med lasers. Well, I've been here before - i'm in the back end of the enemy line - I'm going to die. When they all turn around and finally figure out I'm here, I'm going to take focus fire from 6 mechs. But, I figure I've got once in a lifetime shot at ganking an atlas, and quite frankly, I honestly feel at some level like he should be punished - just punished, for being so utterly unaware of his surroundings, and totally unguarded by the rest of his team.
So I dump an alpha into his back center - not enough to kill him, but enough to internal - I swear he doesn't move. maybe it's lag, or maybe it just took that long to register that he was being hit from behind instead of in front, but whatever it was, I have time to sink a 2nd alpha into him - sadly, even that wasn't enough to kill him (I'm guessing the lasers and maybe the gauss was off by a smidge and wandered into his back lt torso or some such) - finally ,he starts to turn, but I hold onto his back long enough to pop another volley of lasers and put him down.
Then I run for it
oddly, apparently, none of his teammates knew I was there either until he died, and they started to turn, and I had time to get out - I went down later when I got cut off and surrounded 3 to 1, but took out another before I went down

The most satisfying assist I got was when my team split, half-tunnel, half-river, I went on point for the tunnel dudes and got behind, what I think was, a Cataphract (full health) that was distracted by the river group. I checked my radar and saw my heavier teammates weren't out of the tunnel yet. It would've been unnecessary to spoil the surprise, so I waited for my buddies to get a shot. Their guns let loose, and so did mine. We squikked that 'phract in what felt like an instant. It felt so nice.
