Not a fan. There are supposed to be consequences for putting the fanciest equipment on your mech. Now upgrades go from being a "tactical decision" to a "power up."

unfortunate side effect, yes.

Ideally R&R would have stayed in, missile costs and FF repair costs would have been less.

AND TRIAL MECHS GET ALLLLLLL OF THEM LOCKED OUT IF ONE IS IN A MATCH..

That my friends, is how you grief farmers.

Lame ECM commandos are lame...Im glad youll be getting less because your "fun" contribution to the game, for me, is zero.

Once netcode and collisions are in, they can jack up the C-bills that lights make.

For now though, im glad they have a break.

I won't be getting less, it isn't based strictly off damage. In fact I'll probably be making MORE money in my Commando than I was previously. Since I almost never got a kill but regularly had 5-6 assists in any single game.

Also, welcome to people loading up LRM boats with Artemis, and spamming the crap out of em, because why the hell not, it's free?

Why don't they treat repair/rearm like the cadet bonus, and disable it for the first 25 matches with owned mechs....

It means people will pilot what they want to pilot... and not feel like they have to abandon their favorite mech because it costs more C-Bills to play it than it earns.

People already do it already anyway...

Also people still play LRM boats? I didn't notice since I am too busy running ECM.

LOL...you will never see LRM boats come back......In fact, we just played a heavy LRM team and even though lots of Flights were launched, we still decimated them 7/2.....

LRMS are done until ECM changes.

More like, no more being punished for playing GOOD. You were being punished for spreading damage before. Hell, one of my casual friends would rather die fast and get focused down his CT so he doesn't have to pay more for repairs. With this, those who stay in the fight longer and deal more damage will get rewarded only. Economy shouldn't even be balancing ANYTHING out as well. If something doesn't seem right then fix the stats, not decrease the amount of time a person can deploy it (that isnt balancing). This is a good change for a competitive game! This isn't a mmorpg.

Repair and rearm mechanics need to differ for House members vs. Mercenaries. Soldiers aren't expected to pay for their ammo and gear. Dirty mercs are.

Actually the Dirty Houses that pay my contract, pay for my ammo and gear.......................

Thank you PGI for giving me a C-Bill bonus of 7.8 million after I have played over 26 matches already, which technically you really didn't have to do since I am not really considered a new player, but since there is only complaining I'll be the first to say "Thank you"

Ummm... don't sell XL Engines?

I hoard my engines unless I have extras. I did have 4 260 engines at one point...

Removing Repair and Rearm is a bad idea.

I am kinda worried that the devs have scrapped repairs all together. Repair cost are what kept stupid people from running in and dying. Now that its gone I anticipate a lot of dumber players and suicide tactics.

Not to mention, there's no reason not to run with the the most expensive stuff all the time.

Awful, AWFUL design decision. I'm terrified of what they think CW should be.

yet another stupid decision ffs, the whole point of repair and rearm is you have to make choices about what you are going to field. Tweak it yes, remove it, no

i sold my xl engine because of repair bills. some other d-bag said to me "ummmm... dont sell xl engines?"

i even down graded some mechs form FF armor because of repair bills. there is no bloody reason to run endo steal now or any other cheap crud. now, he who does not have ff armor or xl engine will suffer.

This is a sign of watering down tactics being used.

Removing repair and rearm.

One of the few things you've managed to work out all the bugs and it's getting yanked because of people whining they aren't making enough.

Is this a temporary thing?

Now there's no reason not to load out all your rigs with the best tech possible.

Terrible.

MechAssault Online here we come!

the only positive thing that came out of it is that I can now run my SRM Retardapult with artemis.

And the gauss rifle no longer fires slugs made of gold. :)

This is a silly change, imo. Remove repair/rearm, but adjust the rewards so that the average reward equates to the expected net reward with the previous repair/rearm system. What's the point of that? They should have just addressed the griefing by adjusting rewards (as they did) and made adjustments accordingly to repair/rearm and then left them in place.

No point in making cheap, effective builds any longer. Boo.

Also sort of shooting yourself in the foot PGI. No reason for me to use MC to buy mechs (was considering it) or covet premium time if I just make fake monies and have no maintenance costs to slow the growth of my pile.

I have 30+ million and maintain it because I play several hours almost every day... that should be a reward not a gimee.

Give the new players a leg up... ******* fantastic, more power to them, get them in their own mech post haste, but to build that bank roll and stable of mechs and customize them all that should be the reward for extended play and effort put in.

In the F2P model everything needs to cost something: Time or money... and money should be a viable option to keep the game afloat which means not just giving everyone most things quickly so there is incentive to spend.

But you're proving my point.

You have 30 million and a full garage. That's great! So uhh, my brother has trialmechs. He can't buy anything. I can't buy anything, either. I have everything already.

There's also no new people to play against, because they can't make the money needed to get competitive gear, as they were not here since day #1, and you have no real reason to take your fancy toys out for playing against others on your own level, as that would pay you much, much less money than feeding on the n00bs in their trialmechs.

Repair costs are also what kept people from sacrificing their mech for the good of the team.

Edit: Just one example. Yesterday my team went through the tunnel on frozen and I stayed back and defended the ridge in my Assault mech. It took them a while to notice that there is only one mech defenting - they owned me but had no chance to secure their base.
