Did I say I wanted TDM anywhere in this thread? I want variety. I want players to be able to play a game mode that they like and want to play.
What the hell do you want? To be a d ouche? If so, you are doing a great job.
I don't understand what you are talking about, With base cap you can and do get to play TDM! And you get to whine when those who want to be sneaky f*cking Ninja cap you cause they Didn't want to be killed by you. SO now one side doesn't get teh chance to be sneaky F*cking ninja any more so 1/2 of the players (give er take) Now don't get their style of game at all? and I'M Being the D'ouche? Way to miss the point sir. In assault you could play one of two ways, now its just mindless pumbling.

Are you really so stupid that you can't see that this suggestion would help improve the games you like to play (non-dm)?
You would have less of the mindless idiots in your games.
Apparently yes he is cause he doesn't understand that your way the community would be split and he'd get to play with his ninjas.

Yeah, it was called every other shooter before the Battlefield series got popular and every other MechWarrior game before now.
In addition to some of the other problems mentioned, in MW games "Deathmatch" throws play balance out the window and makes mechs with speed instead of firepower not viable in battles unless you want to grief by running out the clock... MWO is actually the first MW video game to give scout mechs an actual purpose. Myself, I love that they have fixed this long standing balance issue with scouts, now if they would just add in tonnage limits so people are forced to play mediums more instead of assaults, the game will be the closest it's ever been to resembling it's own original lore. (Heavies and Assaults are supposed to be rare in MW, only officers, royalty, and ace veterans are supposed to be flying the real heavy hitters)
Oh, you didn't say you were talking about other games before.
I completely agree with all of your points.
If you reread my post, you will see that I never said anything about replacing assault mode, which seems to be what you are inferring. I want TDM added in addition, so your concerns would only pertain to TDM games and those playing that game mode would probably be aware of what they are getting into.

Right cause a base has never been captured by stealth in all of history... Trojan horse was a stand up fight to the death right?

Your post makes no sense in this discussion.
- A base cap mode is by definition not a tdm mode.
- whole point of the suggestion was to cut down on whining by giving players variety to better fit the playstyle they want.
- again, VARIETY, players would get to pick the mode that fits the playstyle they want. No where did I suggest "don't get their style of game at all" or whatever you were trying to say there.

FUnny I spent half of my military carrier learning how to defend a position! The other was learning how to shoot someones eyes out at 500m. SO yes in a combat game sometimes you are just going to have to learn how to defend your stuff or you will lose it. Also if you defend your base you will have a stand up fight with the team that is trying to Ninja cap you! I swear some folks just don't understand what is means to actually fight strategically.

LOL... Protecting your base doesn't mean stand in it. It means finding out where the enemy is and stopping them. Instead I see a lot of people just running to "whar da fioght shoulda took place" and then apparently getting a dumb look on their face when "Your Base is Being Captured" is announced by BB.

One of the most odd things with this discussion, is not that long ago, you could still download MW4 and play deathmatches... you never know you maybe still can. I can see how newer players that didn't play the older games might long for a simple deathmatch mode- but especially with the limited amount of mechs and maps right now in MWO, it would not be very fun for very long- MW4 had hundreds of mechs to choose from, of which you would see only about 4 of them used in DM.

If you actively defend your base(not stand in it looking dumb) then the game will always turn into TDM for a good portion of it.

Who said anything about upcoming changes?
All I'm saying is a lot of the forum whining is because there is only one game mode, and a lot of players don't like it or are too stupid to play it properly.
And it could be lessened if they added TDM.
Why is this so difficult for people to comprehend?

However it is played as such when team a find team B and obliterates them. The Battletech Universe does not have team death matches out side of Clan Trails. There is almost always an Objective to be fought over even if the objective is a case of beer. I have played TDM on the Assault scenario many more times than I have Base rushed or had to defend/free my base. I run to your base and you come and stop me from taking it TDM cause as long as I am on your base I can take it. Sorry you don't see how keeping status quo we still have both options now we just get to go out and meet each other like the red coats did.

- Two teams (or maybe 4 teams of 4) fight over center base with moderately large "capture" zone
- These teams start on opposite sides near the edge of the capture zone
- The goal is to eliminate all opposing enemies from this zone
- The "capture" zone is to be large enough to allow movement to fight, but not too large to allow someone to run off and hide
- If no one of the opposite team is occupying the zone, then after a short count down, they lose.

I agree that is generally true, but there are players that don't want to bother with the defend portion at all.
All I am suggesting is giving these players the mode they want, so the rest of us can play the other modes with more willing to use strategy/competent players.

Number of mechs alive on each team - The team with the most teammates alive were the winner
In case of even strength of teammates alive, then the percentage of base cap was then used.
In the event of another tie (which didn't happen), then it would end in a draw.
So the deciding factors had priorities. Step 1, check who's left alive. If it's equal, THEN step 2, and so forth. This way, if team A had 1 mech left, while team B had 3 left, but team A had capped 50% of team B's base, team B would still win when time expired.
This is the system that should be put in place, along with slowing down the cap rate overall (I feel it's too quick. OR, base the speed based on the number of enemy mechs still alive to a point, this way speed capping would be extremely hard).

TDM? Sure if that is your thing.
Conquest? Yes please.
KotH? Yes!
Attack/Defend? Why not?
Base Cap? Yes.
There is still development going on and there is room for all of these modes in MW:O.
Hopefully we will see them all.
