What is the point of playing if dying means nothing. This is what made me quit MMO games (Evert quest, WoW, etc).

Now I can expect to see complete stupidity on the battlefield since there are no consequences to dying.

I am NOT looking forward to this patch.

If you want ~CONSEQUENCES~ you should hit your computer with a hammer each time you blow up.

What....

There's a consequence in dying - not winning. You'll still earn less if you lose.

Or understand the R&R removal may be a temporary thing while they collect data on Conquest mode. You are making assumptions that these changes are set in stone. Since you got into Beta either before or at the same time as me, you should know otherwise.

Stick: doing stupid things costs you money
Carrot: doing smart things gets you money

They don't really need to have both.

Also, let's be fair, R&R discouraged playing XL engines, Ferro armor, Assault mechs, and missile mechs more than it discouraged being stupid.

Have you heard anything about it being temporary?

I've been around to know that sometimes temporary becomes a permanent change.

I didn't see anything about it being a temp change in the dev notes.

You're taking the removal of R&R as permanent. It's not. Just like the 1.8 damage on LRMs, lag-shielded Jenners running amok, etc.

It's a beta. And honestly, the patch hasn't even hit yet. R&R costs are figured into the winnings; let's just see how that balances out before cursing the system.

the rearm cost of some builds were over 100k a fight. this change mean very little to how easy the game actualy is.

the sky isnt falling your roof is just falling apart,

It's rewarding the people that do all the damage and take all the damage more than the nubs that run away from the fight so they don't have a repair bill.

How will DHB make a profit if they have to fight?

This dumbing down is nothing compared to what the ECM did. Unlike that, which did nothing but break things, this actually fixed things.

OP had no comment about ECM when it rolled out, but thinks this economy fix is "dumbing down" the game....

I am going to enjoy saying this so much it shouldn't be possible.

LEARN 2 PLAY DUDE.

DONT LIKE IT LEAVE!

ITS JUST A BETA I MEAN GOD.

MUWHAHAHAHAH

by the by, the penalty for dieing is that you make it more likely your team lose.

Losing means you played badly and didn't help your 'faction' when CW comes out.

edit: i really shouldn't take such a saddistic pleasure in doing this to the whinging founders who did this new players constantly when they explained the new player experience but you know what they say.

Pay back is a b!tch and so are you!

double edit:

Don't forget the sky is falling.

Why should we learn to play if there is no reason to excel? It is just Beta and I hope the Devs find what they are looking for before the next patch. And my favorite retort... WHy should I leave when I am already Right!!! :P :D

Do you have evidence that he specifically is a "Whining Founder"? Or is this more of your usual baseless vitriol? I swear, you and Vassagogel are competing mighty hard for title of "King Troll". Heaven forbid someone disagree with you. What happened in your poor sad existence made you so... Hateful? Oh btw I still support the devs. Don't care what the reward system is, I'll make money either way, as long as I get to blow up mechs...IN A MECH!

Go play something like X3 if you want a game with a harsh economy, with gameplay that actually rewards you for interacting with the economy.

The economy for MWO made no sense as the only way to win it was to not play, either by skipping repairs and rearms as much as possible or not fighting to avoid damage and expending ammo.

My sentence was this:

Or understand the R&R removal may be a temporary thing while they collect data on Conquest mode.

Pay attention to the bold word. Things change all the time, especially when it comes to economics. We've seen hard times when it was difficult to make money BEFORE R&R, and when it went the other way and money was handed out on a silver platter.

PGI was taking data the entire time. Then using it accordingly to balance out the economy.
