PPC is serious business now! Use three of them in my new Swayback. :)

Does it still overheat like crazy?
It's a bit wierd to imagile PPC going at the speed of Gauss... :)

How's the ECM effect?

Heat is unchanged, so if you think they "overheat like crazy" before, then you will think the same now. It only got a speed buff to help you hit moving targets better, that's all. I would hardly call it a huge change. There is no ecm effect with the ppc's.

Still not as effective as a weapon that actually hits what I point it at. (lasers)

I believe something was mentioned about the overheat and the emp effect (bookmark here here). Here is a copy paste if you

This is a list of what is being tuned in the immediate future. There are no set dates for this. This is just a FYI as to what is coming down the pipe.
In Current Development:
PPCs are being investigated.
  • Heat balance?
What we are planning:

Special effect when you are hit by a PPC that is similar to EMP.
  • MG's will be getting a damage boost.
  • Flamers will be getting the heat generation on enemy scaled in a way that makes more sense. You're not going to overheat a Mech but you should be raising their temps to the point that if they fire anything they will shut down/overheat.

I have been using two PPC's on the arms of my 1x cataphrach and they hit very hard. These are not ERPPCS, but I have some lasers and a XL 340 to get me back into PPC range. It really hits fast and hard. I make most my shots and I am pretty impressed. A heat and EMP effect will be welcome.

ERPPCs are still way too hot and regular PPCs are hampered by the min range. There are far too many superior weapon choices for me to ever carry PPCs on any mech right now.

I'm gonna slap two of them in my AWE-8Q later and test them out. See if more reliable hits on target help make PPCs a viable alternative to LLAS.

Yesterday, I played like 30-40 games straight with Awesome 9M with XL380 (82.7kph with speed tweak), with 3x PPC. Heat eff 1.3. Worked absolutely fine, but the projectile speed increase certainly helps.

Today, I've been playing - amongst other builds, 4x PPC Stalker. It's certainly easier to hit, less luck involved. There's much less time for your opponents to "Goofy turn and dodge".

I only shoot alphas, since it's the burst pinpoint damage what I am after. Chain firing isn't a good idea in my opinion.

Extra projectile speed is a nice buff to the weapon. Even for a guy like me that has used them a lot in various builds and had practice hitting at distance. Still a heat intensive weapon, but if you were like me and good at being patient and picking your shots, it is a very viable long range killer now.

The speed buff to PPCs has really changed the battlefield. People used to ignore anything carrying the PPC and you felt impotent but now you are the energy sniper of the battlefield. I would love it even more if they added the EMP effect. I had no idea the 2000 m/s buff alone would have such a dramatic effect!

Excellent! So glad to hear this. One of my favorite builds was my CTF-1X with an AC/10 and PPC. I got pretty good at sniping from middle distance with both weapons. I look forward to the faster speed on both, but the PPC especially.

Heh, I remember meeting you in game!

How many DHS can you cram into a AWE-9M with a 380? With 1.3 eff, is firing sustainable, or are you still having to take pauses?

I watched a guy make a bunch of 1k+ shots with dual PPCs. They're definitely better now.

I... I couldn't take it. I had to make one of my own, the pull of PPC silliness was too strong. AWE-9M, XL350, 22DHS, 3xPPCs. FINAL DESTINATION -

I think I'm in love.
