In my opinion four PPC Stalkers are no longer viable. Here is what my PPC Stalker now has morphed into. STK-3F = 3 PPC, 300 STD, Endo, 20 DHS + 1 LPL + 2 Mlas.

2 pretty good builds are:

More independent walking around:
2x SRM6/Artemis (2 tons ammo) + 4 Large Lasers + 300 STD engine, max armor, 19 DHS (needs Endosteel)

OR

Fire support for a team:
4 Large Lasers, 300 STD engine, max armor, 24 DHS (without endosteel)

Edit:
Not viable is so far from true. The SRM build above rocks mechs heavily. The problem may be, that we are waiting for PGI to roll back the U/AC5 buff (ridiculous!), but it's gonna happen sooner or later.

I've had a lot of great success with this build:
STK-3F, STD300, 2PPCs, 4MPLs, AMS, and 21 DBL Heat Sinks.

AMS was added as a space filler. PPCs are both mounted onto the right arm, and the MPLs are mounted to the RT/LT and left arm. I have them set up to chain fire, but if a light ever comes around the corner I fire all four at once. Most assaults I'll pummel with my PPCs from a distance, with everything else I'll advance to medium range to harass them with the PPCs, and once they get close I take out their softened up bits with the MPLs.

I'd spread them out only so you don't lose both PPCs if/when you lose an arm/torso.

I've actually done this all quite deliberately, if I had the PPCs spread out over my body then I'd have to expose more of my torso when firing from cover in order to fire both PPCs, this way I only need to expose my upper tight torso. Also, if I were to lose my right arm then I lose no close-medium range effectiveness and retain all four MPLs. If I lost my left arm then I'd still retain 100% long range effectiveness and simply have to keep a greater distance from enemies. If I lose an arm then I just change my playstyle and remain just as effective at the range I chose.

stalker lrm boat

heres my lrm boat. got a lot of succes with it. hitting 1200dmg more than once

STK-5S

XL 280 (12 dhs, one in engine and one in the arm)
1x tag (kinda speaks for itself)
3x medium lasers (to scare lights away or deliver a final blow)
4x lrm15 + artimis (13 tons of ammo which gives you 2340 lrms)

pros: you can fire the entire match with these amounts of lrms (getting above 800 dmg or more isnt that hard with this thing)
you got a decent backup weapon with 3 medium lasers
with tag you can spot for yourself instaid of always counting on lights

cons: XL engine and lightly armored if you look at other stalkers (still enough for a lrm boat as you shouldnt be on the front line)
high heat (easily manageable but you have to choose between your mediums or lrms)
expensive at 20,023,373 C-bills

mechlab link: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...9939c577710f34a

note that you wont have to have the 5S, the 3F can mount the same but with reduced mech cost. i did the 5S because i already bought it before this build but with the 5S you can swap in 2tons of ammo for 2 ams

Go ahead and name it if you like,
I'm calling mine the Alphastalker because of its 92point alphastrike that can be fired point blank...oh and my name... lol
So terrible naming aside. I give you the most powerful mech I've ever piloted.

Stalker 5M
No FF
No ES
DHS
STD 310 Engine
19 DHS
1ML(core laser) & 4 SL or for slightly better heat 5 SL
5 SRM6
5 tons of ammo
AMS 1 ton of ammo.
.5 tons of extra armor.
here's my somewhat different version also if you want them to hate you even more replace the MLs with flamers :) http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f217c027d2f484e

STK-3F Std280 2xPPC 4xML 4xSSRM2 +BAP/AMS

All around useful, does great with Adv. Zoom. Can fire the PPC's 14 times before overheating on Normal/Cold maps with 2x Basic efficiency.

STK-3F Std300 2xERLL 4xML 4xSSRM2 +BAP

Variant of the Above. Bigger engine, cooler and with more long range capabilities. Lacks AMS and the Snapshooting prowess of PPC's. Reliable even on Terra Therma compared to most non ballistic mechbuilds.

close to mid range 3F

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...9ddf1e96b4621f6

using this on midranges with 4x lasers and when advancing and coming into close range 2x SRM6 stands for the extra firepower. lasers set to weapon group 1 and 2 (left and right) srms on wpn grp 3. its an easy to play stalker, good frontal armor and it tear the enemy apart ;)

updated to XL 300 engine and 4x SRM6, 48 dmg with the SMRs is like an ironfist punch in your face on shortrange!

Pew Pew Lasers - aka dont stand in front of me i'll core you

Standard 300 Engine
4 Large Lasers
24 DHS
No Endo
No FF
Max Armor

This thing can get off 3 alphas before overheating. I put 90 armor in my CT for anybody that thinks its a good idea to stand in front of me and try to go toe to toe. Usually i can rip off their best weapon in 2 alphas, and they turn and run.

My 3F is rolling with 4 ERLLas and 4 SSRM2's STD 300 engine AMS 18DHS Beagle max armor and endo steel.
Tried 3LLas but found i almost never had a need for the 2 extra LLas due to the heat penalties, and currently having better hitreg with streaks over normal SRM's.

I'm running this build on my 5M right now and love it
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...ccfa670da2ccc85
I stay in the back and use my PPCs and when somebody gets too close, I switch to mass SRMs. Just be careful with ghost heat.
And when that is not enough, I can always alpha with SRMs and PPCs (and overheat...). I've also tried normal PPCs, but I really like the extra range of the ERs.
You can do almost the same build on a 3F as well. (or any other Stalker except Misery really)
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...78b613deea8f125
The ammo is plenty though. I barely use more than 400 per match. But there is nothing else to do with that weight, except a slightly better engine or BAP.

This is my current 3F
STK-3F
With 22DHS I can afford to alpha the 4x SRM6 and take the heat penalty, the 4 x MLaz on chain fire to keep up a constant burn on the target, exploit any hole the SRMs opened up.

The biggest problem with this build is the lack of range and have to either carefully sneak around the map, wait in ambush or hide in plain sight among the death ball.

Runs way too hot, also XL engine for the loss and 6-tube/15launcher combos for the loss and huge ammo, really huge, asks for explosions, basically making any armor penetration anywhere the end of your mech (XL+ammo!). Terrible.

Big Stalker fan here.
I currently own 3 variants and am really proud with my designs, especially the 5M and 5S.

5S is kinda tricky jack of all trades, able to perform well at any range.
It holds my current damage record of 1391.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...64e0b1990aa9d6f

5M is just insanely durable support, able to chug lrms every half of a second or do 20+25 doubles.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3e0449581cac4bb

3F is the mid to close range fighter.
The trick to using this setup is to combine 2PPCs and 2LL into some nasty alphas.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...84198503883d13d

PS :Edited, cause I'm too tired to do things right on the first try.
