The BEST LRM boat!!!
Chassis Name: Stalker
Model Name: STK-5M
1.LRM boat + self-defense = Artemis LRM 15 x4 (9 ammo) + 4 Med Lasers + AMS + full armor
http://clip2net.com/...m69792/38762109
It's my choise )

2. Ultimate LRM boat = Artemis LRM 15 x5 (10 ammo) + full armor
a great choice for team play (need ECM cover and back protection)

Aren't the two LRM15 in LT launching one missile at a time? I would keep the two slots for SSRM (close range defense). 3 LRM launchers are usually sufficient, and a TAG in center torso to counter ECM if necessary.

Only the NARC launcher slot in the left torso would be firing one LRM at a time; the other torso mounts have six tubes. It could also be done with three LRM 20s, which would use one less slot and one less ton from Artemis FCS...

This is probably the best template for stalkers.... 2 Long range missile weapons, 2-4 short range missile weapons, and either 2 large laser or 4 medium laser. I've tried a lot of different loadouts so far, and every time I keep coming back to a set up just like this.

I've had some fun with a Stalker this last day since the patch.

I tried to put on 4 SRM6 but then you need to get much closer than you are made for (Stalker is NOT a brawler!!! It turns to slow and too little for the fast-paced brawl).

My more reliable build is... surprise!!! Close to the stock variant! 2 Large Lasers as main weapons, 4 med lasers as backup and 2 LRM10 for long range. Can deal good damage over a long range and runs on a STD 300 and the rest is filled with DBL Heat sinks. Takes forever to die and reliable at all ranges.

Anyhow... I have tried a build with 4 LRM15 aswell. It works great because for some reason, noone brings ECM to the battle anymore! I dont care that I dont have enough barrels to fire them all in one burst... the 3 bursts that launch are devastating enough. Just earned a respectable 195,747 C-bills in one game including premium bonus.

My favorite toy right now is my Stalker 5S named Cerberus.
It has the following loadout :

Endo steel + 14 double heat sinks
6 medium lasers (pew pew)
2 LRM20 in arms (froosh froosh)
2 SSRM2 in torsos (shu shu)
2 AMS (drrrrrrr)
@55.2 kph with standard engine and 0.91 heat efficiency (which means 1.1 without firing LRMs).

When the ennemy is far i froosh froosh. When it gets closer i pew pew and shu shu.
The only problem is ECM and light mechs in general.
Fortunately my pew pew chainfired lazors never let me down ( except with lagshield D: )

STK-5M

STD 255 Engine
17 DHS
5x ML
5x SRM6 + Artemis

Slow but powerful. Great for dealing with other assaults and heavies.
I throw out SRMS at will without overheating. After 2-3 missile salvos my target will have core or torsos exposed, and I go in for a pinpoint kill with the Medium Lasers.

Streakapults, eat your hearts out.

--------------------

STK-5M

Heat Sinks: 25
STD Engine 310 (59 KPH)
C.A.S.E. x1
Ferro-Fibrous Armor (mostly rearranged to the front)

Stream SRM 2 x5 (400 Ammo)
Medium Laser x5
Anti-Missile x1 (1000 Ammo)

--------------------

It works surprisingly well. Assault 'Mechs get their front torsos ripped open after two or three alpha strikes, and the quintuple Streak SRM 2's can be spammed without overheating to finish them off. Having the biggest engine it can hold gives it some handy chasing and evasion speed, and having a healthy supply of Ferro-Fibrous means it can take a beating.

5 MLs

STK-5M
5x SRM6s + Artemis
2 LLs
255 std
16 DHS
(or 3LLs, 18DHS instead of Artemis)
It's different from other builts here, but suits me well.

I gonna built:
5x SRM6+Artemis
3-4 LLs
300XL
16DHS (or 5x SRM4 and 18DHS)
but not sure if the idea is good.

Don't say I'm a noob! I know it -_-
Just looking for nice LL + SRM built.

My JOAT Stalker STK-5M build:

Basic equipment:
  • XL 300 Engine
  • 18 DHS
  • AMS + 1 ton ammo
  • Full Armor (Standard)
  • Structure Standard
Weapons:
  • 2 x LRM15 + 3 tons
  • 2 x Large Laser
  • 2 x Streak2 + 2 tons
  • 2 x Medium Laser
  • 1 x TAG

It combines good long and medium range capabilities and can be rather nasty in close range. Not hittng very hard in any of the range segments but covers all of it.
No big heat issues, enough ammo for the average engagements.
The XL engine can bring you into problems with the current side torso layout/hitbox, I might have to switch it for a standard engine and sacrifice some armor or ammo.

So far with the STK-5S I've tried the following builds, all with 464 or higher standard armor, standard structure. Note: one thing apparent to long-time TT players and now mech designers in MWO with this mech is that any space-taking upgrades are sometimes not the optimal choice due to the space needs of so many weapons systems. Standard components across the board can sometimes be best in the Stalker. Also obvious in the desings below is my preference for beams supported by SRMs.

Builds with the original 255XL:
Best results came from 4 LLAS and 2 SRM6 with 18 DHS (with CASE). While 3/5 movement limits maneuverability/survivability, I achieved some of my highest consistent match damage numbers with this design, repeatedly passing 1000 dmg and rarely dropping below 500, stepping over quite a few burning hulks each match. Heat of course was still an issue, and to manage it I kept the lasers separated on 2 triggers.

Builds with 300 Standard:
While a big reduction in available payload (down from 49.5 to 37), the extra speed is worth it as increased maneuvering capability has allowed me to pass that threshold where this thing has astonishing survivability. My reasoning for using the 300 standard is a combination of having the highest engine internal heat sink payload that this mech allows plus not using XL in order to ensure full torso space. This allows loadouts with up to 24 DHS while still keeping 2 LLAS in each arm, or 22 or 20 DHS with 3 or 6 free spaces in each LT/RT for SRMs or more beams.

One build with short range but similar damage results to the slow XL build mentioned above is 6 MPLAS and 2 SRM6 with 22 DHS (with CASE). Another similar has been 2 LLAS, 4 MLAS, and 4 SSRM2 again with 22 DHS (unfortunately no CASE, ammo in arms). Variations with 4 SRM4 were also tried.

I'll still be trying another build or two with the 5S while earning enough Cbills to move on to another STK to continue 1st tier training.

I have used various builds, but at the moment

STK-3F aka Valohippi
STD eng 255
ESteel
Maxed armour...at least almost :D

Weapons:
4*ML
2*LL
3*SRM6

I'm juggling weapons quite a bit, but in all cases i have been having fun (although lagging light mechs are quite hard to handle)

My current build is a 5-M with:

Stock engine
DHS
Endo
Artemis
2 X LRM 20
1 X LRM 15
2 X SRM 6
3X Small laser

It's better at long range ( I enjoy missle support), but can deal respectable damage if an enemy closes with it, and heat is not a large problem, even with only the engine DHS.

isn't there a variant of this mech that can equip the ECM? I thought I had read in another Forum thread that there was. It also sounds like the 5M & S's are the most play3ed

Stalker 3f
Name: Gekishin-S3F
RA /RA- 2x ML, 1x srm4
RT/LT - 1x srm6, 1LL

Standard 300
AMS
19 DHS

you can chain fire the LL and fire all your srms for an extended period of time, very nice. if you get hot then fire your SL in groups of two + all your srms to continue the damage till you can fire your LL.

Edit.
