PvE?...Just say NO!

PvE would have to be done to introduce the clans, otherwise how would players be able to fight the clans? Who would get the chassis or be picked to be in a clan first? And just having clan tech pop up when they show up is very anti climatic. Why even have a date system if it doesn't mean anything?
PvP is okay but it gets boring and this game could be so much more.

I love PVE and for one hope they get around to it. PVP may pay the bills, but I would love some PVE.

It would also allow newbies to get a grasp of the game before they jump into the PvP matches and get their butts handed to them, I can see a LOT of new players permanently Rage Quitting this game if there is no PvE "Instant Match" option, as it takes quite a bit of time & patience getting use to MechWarrior game Mechanics.
It will allow us all to be much more confident and ready for the PvP matches, which can only be a good thing.

I guess what I am saying is this - If you have to sit and wait to get into a match or just wanna do something by yourself people will get bored and they will go do something else. If they wanna make money and keep game going I think they will have to cater to both sides.

Personally, I enjoy Multiplayer, PvP, and all of that. But I despise it when a game is focused on that. CoD for example. They pay little to no attention to the story mode, zombies, etc, that it just got horribly boring. Most games these days focus on that. I don't see why we can't have both.
I really enjoy cooperating with my friends, as well as just blasting the living f**k out of them. But other times I like to get myself my favourite mech, get dropped into an arena, and run around trying to survive an onslaught of AI controlled mechs.
Not to mention that my internet connection is bad, the same with a few others that go online. I can't play anything but turn based or slow-ish strategy games online with other people, like Sins of a Solar Empire. I'm SERIOUSLY excited to play this game, but if it's focused on PvP, then there isn't **** I can do, and I'm wasting my money.
I don't see why a game should focus on one or the other. Why don't they just take their time and build both sides right? It wouldn't even need an actual campaign/storyline if they made the PvE/PvP right and gave it enough customization and some real strategy.
For example, In Mech Warrior 4: Vengence, a sniping Vulture with long range missiles, or an Uziel with PPC weapons could sit on top of a mountain or large hill and pick apart the enemy mechs before they could get within firing range. A forward, up front Thor or something could get some short range missiles, chainguns and etc and tear up the front line. If you got a good team together you could really tear up the targets with minimal shots taken.
Then again, that's Multiplayer. In PvE, in MW4:Vengence, you could always personally outfit your AI teammates, or just go it alone, as well as changing up the enemy team and setting it to infinite waves, then going nuts. It's really fun overall because you can set up anything you want, or just go for random enemies/allies and hope for the best.

You know what has been aggravating military personnel recently? Requiring online connections to play single player campaigns.
I'm trying to help a buddy figure out what games he should bring on his laptop for a 10 month deployment on an aircraft carrier, and suddenly I realized, I'm in the same boat (literally), so I too, need to find something to do with 10 months of sea time.
As far as I know, MWO is going to be online only. I can understand the work required putting in a campaign, writing AI scripts, etc, but what about just simple LAN games? Something where 3-4 players can connect via a router and play against eachother?
Just food for thought, because recently game companies don't seem to think about military people and the fact they are usually unable to connect to any kind of internet for 6 months - 1.5 years at a time. Being without multiplayer sucks enough, but lately, not even being able to play single player campaigns and/or any kind of LAN settings pretty much make all those games 100% useless.
Steam and its offline game mode option is great, that is, until the offline mode derps and you can no longer use it until you get an internet connection back. Sucks being 90 days without a port call and not being able to play any of your games.
This is the only valid point in the whole thread. PGI, could you hook up the military guys with some deployment server software for LANS? If the info is stored server side, it could sync up their progress on port calls and such. If you put up a donation box to 'get 'er done' many vets would be glad to help these guys out and pick up some MWO recruits in the process! Aresye, perhaps shoot a letter to stars and strips or the USO to get the ball rolling on that end to see if some sort of program for this is feasible. I know it is desired, but what is the exact length of the red tape on both ends? Will it meet in the middle? PGI, some word please. I'd buy another Tag for this!
But screw PVE!!!

It's not up for debate, if you "win" this thread by arguing until everyone else stops posting, devs won't change anything.
If you want a mechwarrior game, support this or the tactics version. Telling the devs you want a PvE experience is a good thing, just remember arguing amongst yourselves does nothing but make noise no dev will read.

In Navyfield you have some very lame Missions even some Hard ones, but the Mission's give you only little gain in Credits.
BUT you have the Battleground were you can play with other players Trainings without Credit and Repair Costs (and gains)
And you got some Sitting Duck Missions which are PvE.
In this Missions you learned some very good Aspects of the Game, and as former Instructor of a Clan there i have to say, it's a big difference if the players had been in the Training Missions or not. Because you can instruct and train them with little time to handle some specific Situations.
I think something like implementing an old SDLF Training Facility Ground with Holo targets and a Combat arrea would be great and a big improvement for Green players to get trained by older players.
And most important, a Player went trough training WON'T ANNOY US when he is fighting in OUR Team.
Ps.:
And maybe some Missions for Snotnose Pilots would be nice. Something like You are a Lance and there are two Lances of old Pirate (AI) Mechs. You gain only 50% of Credits for shooting them and the Maps are rotated. With this you would have a good Chance if you do good Teamwork to kill the "Pirates" and you learn to work as a Lance Team. And you can learn the Maps.

I would also like the idea of an AI backup for players that lost connection. (making them technically PVE) It could play for them for a small while (2 minutes max) before shutting down the 'mech or causing it to self-destruct.
It would avoid abuse and help your teammates in that unforeseen event.

I also do not play a lot of FPS's.
A PVE game could be put together with 5 missions per mech role/division so as to introduce the player to the world and the different roles, as well as how to pilot the mech. There would not even need to be different maps. They could just reuse the existing maps, mostly the smaller maps. They only really need one voice actor who would be your commander, and then AI for the limited amount of lance mates and bad guys.
It would be great if they could have a story line for each house and the mercs just to get into the world more, so that would be one voice actor for each, and some cut scenes.
I really enjoy PVE and I know I will get eaten up in PVP, but I am looking forward to the challenge. I would really like to be immersed in the story and world too. I do understand that the focus of this game is PVP, and I have no problem with that, but PVE needs to be done at some point.
