warning POSITIVE rant

Dear devs ...

Ah after so many of your failures, so many mistakes ... you finally decided to do something about it ... and at least not break something with a patch .... Hell YEAH ...I think this was the first patch since open beta that actually didnt break anything important!!!

Yes there are so many out there who cannot play due to the performance issues... Yes there are still random bugs with the game .. Yes we (rest of the world !US) still suffer from HORRIBLE netcode and hence lagshield....Yes the sound still suffers distortion(even when it's supposed to be fixed).... Yes PPC's still suck ... BUT...

You finally gave up on horrible judgement mistakes in your $C bill reward system and made it as it should be: performance driven!!!! I simply LOVE it ... finally I can go in the battle with my YLW... go bezerk ... use the skills :) damage half of the other team before they take me down (and maaybe take one or two mediums with me) and get something in return!!!! I am aware how dumb this action is ... hmm if you believe in Altruism ... then maybe not ... but ok ... still ... I am rewarded at least for some piloting skills .. instead punished for the use of that damn XL engine ;)

Getting rid of the repair/refit costs brought this game to totally different level of fun .. as it should be ... Just like It was in closed beta ... and then some! Why would I have to pay so much for repair costs of a XL engine when it is already compensated in the game by larger chance of critical hit... logical ...

Ah this is becoming a story ... I just wanted to say ..

Thank you ... It was about time you did something else than making pretty gadgets for HUD...
Keep up the good work! ... Please ;)

Base capture in Assault.

aside from that I mostly agree, they did a pretty good job on this one.

QQ threads get tons of replies while the positive nice posts get left in the dust such a sad comunity at times. I had my doubts at first but after actually giving it a chance and not jumping to conclusions I found it quite good :)

Bump for agreeing with this.

I could not be more happy with Mechwarrior in it's current state. I'm playing the hell out of it, and it's only getting better.

Thank you for this positive post. I very rarely visit these forums anymore due to the copious amount of filth and general corruption that makes up most of the posts here.

Keep up the good work!

Positive posts are nice, but I say to you what I would say to the QQ group: this is not permanent, this is a test, this will change. Don't get too attached to either the negative or the positive changes that get made, cuz they aren't staying for keeps.

Would you like your opponents to also stop moving, power down, and let you shoot them? Maybe a respawn?
Maybe you would like it if your mother still spoon fed you?
This game needs to be hard. It is designed to punish the weak, not reward stupidity. Go play a real Battle Tech game where mechs dropping into a fight missing limbs is the norm. If you ever saw a fully 100% good to go Atlas you knew your life was about to get real bad.

You have to dumb it down to make money sir.

Appeal to the lowest common denominator to get the monies.

Kind of like politics.

Not too many of us left that want a challenge.

Your tears fuel me. Keep it up. Also, feel to go play "A real battletech game" and get the hell off the forums.

It's not easy mode. It has essentially just removed you from having to press the repair and rearm button while allow more builds of mechs to be used regularly.

How exactly is it "easier"?

I actually think the game is a little harder now that you can use FF and ammo weapons more freely.

Ehm .. so shortsighted ... maybe even needless to say anything .. but ok ...
Game is ment to be PLAYED ... and as such as in every game ... you can use different tactics to win ... Whether a single tactic is dumb or useful depends on your definition of WIN ... or your goal ...
My GOAL is to have fun while playing this game ... and yes sometimes less tactic more brawl but sometimes other way around. In my opinion a game that does not award all of the possible tactics equally is not right... For example this tactic was, next to being extremely fun, very useful for my team ... I caused confusion, got them out their ranks and even softened them so that the rest of my team could finish them off easily ... Yes my YLW was destroyed ... but still this doesn't mean it is a wrong way to play ... and should be punished ... You could even argue that my tactic brought victory ... Still in the end all I got was a huge repair bill and maybe 30000 $C left ...
If your idea of fun is to play this safeside .. while someone else takes the bullet for you .. so be it ... but do not discriminate on it ...
BTW ... where would be a challenge if everyone is standing still? :)

I have to say that I love the way this patch plays. Base rushing is almost gone from Assault which is great!! With the reward changes and economy changes the focus of play is squarely on fighting other mech and that is honestly very fun. I still am not at all used to not caring about R&R ... I got killed yesterday and was super happy that they didn't damage my ERPPC... then I realized it didn't matter.

That all being said.. what you describe sounds AWESOME!! Pair that with an actual salvage system where you can stockpile spare parts from salvage and there is an economy of availability with parts... that would be super sweet and emersive. What we had was nothing like that and I'm not sad to see it gone. I just hope its only temporarily so, until such time that they can do it right!

Its the lack of risk vs reward that the old timers like me will not care for.

I understand why they are dumbing it down as they need appeal to a large group of people in order to turn a profit.

Hopefully if/when they get the campaign/persistant map the risk/reward comes back.

It is what makes playing games like Eve fun. You run a risk of losing your shlt if you play like an *****.
